Salmon & Asparagus Bow Tie Pasta
Helen C.

We got the BBQ bacon cheeseburger and the salmon and asparagus pasta. The cheeseburger was decent but the pasta was pretty good. Would definitely come back for the pasta. The hostess who seated us was kind enough to pick up a bee that we found on our table, and the waitstaff was attentive but we did have some trouble trying to flag someone down for the check at the end of the meal. Ambiance was quite nice. We came around dinnertime and there was no wait. Noise level is moderate and there's seating inside and outside. Just a heads up, they do charge a 2.5% service fee, which doesn't include tip.

I am so sad to see this place was permanently closed. We drove to the Farmer's market today and was shocked to see the restaurant was completely gone.

The Happy Hour that they don't call a Happy Hour menu.

Now THIS is a hidden gem. You need to get over here right away and take advantage of their afternoon "Happy Hour" that isn't called a Happy Hour, but functions like one. There is a Marmalade Bites menu that is available every day from 3-6 and it is a HECK of a deal. They have apps (called small bites but I can attest that they were not really small at all), drinks and desserts for $8 each. We had a couple of cocktails/beers, the sliders, the mini nachos and the bruschetta. We were expecting the normal minuscule portions of Happy Hour "bites," but these were nice big portions. We actually over-ordered. And everything was good - the sliders and the bruschetta in particular were both must-order items. Service was very friendly. There was only one other table in the place on a weekday late afternoon. I can't imagine why this place isn't slammed every afternoon - it is the PERFECT place to do a meeting, friends catch up, early dinner/late lunch... really, it's a perfect place to keep in your back pocket and use for ANY occasion. This is a great find. Make sure to get parking validated! Grove or Farmers Market parking is the only drawback we found to this spot.

This was my first visit to the Marmalade Café at farmers market. The service was great. I love the outdoor atmosphere. It was a beautiful California day. The sun was out and there was a perfect breeze, so we sat outside in the patio. Someone at my table ordered the spinach artichoke dip. She really enjoyed the dip and the house potato chips accompanied the dip. They were great. They also ordered a spritzer. They enjoyed the drink. I had the "healthy breakfast". It was hearty and the 7-grain almond granola pancakes were great, not traditional still great. I didn't put butter, (I usually do) but they were tasty with just a tinge of syrup. They are best eaten warm when served. I would not recommend "to-go". I took one of the pancakes to home. It fell a little flat when eaten later, probably because it was not served hot "off the griddle". The scrambled egg whites w/bell peppers were cooked to perfection. I don't usually drink coffee, but I ordered a latte. I was pleasantly surprised, the coffee was great. Someone in the table next to me ordered avocado toast and added a poached egg on top when it arrived it had lots of greens (arugula or micro greens) on it. It looked delicious. I think I will order that next time I stop by. Everything that came out of the kitchen looked appealing. This will be one of our favorites to visit again when we go down to the farmers market/Grove area. My top rating is usually four stars. If I go back and the food and service is consistent, it will be five stars. I consider my five stars equal to Michelin star rating.

Steak and eggs

Came in for breakfast while shopping at the grove and really enjoyed this cafe! Inside was very clean and wasn't too busy at the time but it did fill up very quickly! Service was very good! Server made sure to check up often and asked if everything was good. I got the steak and eggs. Steak was amazing! I got it cooked medium and was cooked perfectly. The steak was seasoned perfectly with the right amount of salt and very tender! The eggs were fluffy and delicious.

Stopped in here this weekend for some breakfast and was pleasantly surprised. It's located inside The Grove but they validate your parking if you park on the farmers market side (2 hours ). We got the steak and eggs and the oatmeal with fruit. The steak and eggs were very yummy and the steak was cooked perfectly. Also came with a side of potatoes. The oatmeal was good as well, very standard and nothing special about it. Service was also really great. The interior here is beautiful! Lots of indoor seating and a bit of outdoor seating as well. It seems family friendly as well. I would definitely recommend.

Calamari

The location is great and there was no wait! The service was good, and the food always smacks. There's indoor and outdoor seating both with great views. Not pictured our drinks! I had a watermelon drink which was deelish, around the table we also had a bloody marry and a lychee martini...all perfect! We ordered half from the lunch and half from the breakfast menu. The smoked salmon eggs Benedict were a fave, and the chicken sandwich was tasty too! If you want a wide variety of food options that are all tasty, this is the spot for you!

Free Range Chicken Pot Pie

Chicken pot pie was actually delicious!! The flaky crust was yummy too. Service was fast at first and then a little bit slow after we got the food! Inside was actually so cute and warm.

Enjoyed a nice brunch on the patio. Weather was perfect. I had a bbw chicken salad. It was a great portion size. Very filling without being stuffed. The flavors were all so complimentary. I really enjoyed it. Service was respectful. It was nice to sit on the patio and people watch Would recommend and return.

Came for a Sunday brunch. Plenty of seats so our party of 8 was able to get seated easily. We came in between lunch and breakfast so was able to order from either menu, plus the specials. Food came quick. Chilaquiles were slightly spicy but the tortillas were a little soggy, probably from the generous meat and sauce plus the gooey egg. The crab cake Benedict had great crab chunks. Restrooms were nice and they validate.

Came here for a friend's birthday party in the private room. Dorothy really took care of us! Came early to see Miriam at the bar for happy hour and she was so sweet and attentive! Food was great and service even better! Highly recommend booking the back room for a private party! Very comfortable and nice!

french onion soup

Standard but good, and the service is always great. Usually there is little to no wait, which makes it an easy choice. I had the chicken piccata and it felt like you get a little bit of everything on the plate. The French onion soup was good, though a bit saltier than I am used to. Overall, it is a solid sit down spot that will not break the bank. For parking validation, make sure you park on the Farmers Market side, not the Grove side.

This is located at The Grove so you'll have to park at a garage. It's my First time here. We came for lunch. We ordered Calamari, Spicy Ahi Tuna Tartare, Ginger Sesame Glazed Salmon with Broccolini, Lobster and Shrimp Linguine (but made with Penne) and Baja Cioppino. Everything was delicious. My favorite was the calamari and the Ahi Tuna since I love seafood. All the food was served hot and fresh. The price was quite standard not too expensive. note: the Ahi Tuna is quite enough for lunch (I was thinking it was an appetizer) it's still definitely shareable. The Cioppino is one dish not to miss. It's a must. It's another shareable meal. The restaurant has great lighting and decor. But can come dressed casual. Some dishes are pricey just FYI. But definitely worth a try. If you're on budget this restaurant might be good for a special occasion (in my opinion). The service was excellent. There wasn't a long wait at all. We were seated right away. Our order was taken right away and the food came fast. And it was nice and hot. Just the way it should be served.

Yes! We had ours there. They even brought her a water cup.

I got the skirt steak cooked medium rare -- flavor was good, but it was a little tough to cut. I think it would've paired even better with some garlic butter or chimichurri on the side. The mac and cheese was SO good and easily one of the highlights of the meal. Creamy, flavorful, and definitely something I'd order again. The pork chops were delicious and packed with flavor, but the spinach underneath was a bit too bitter for my taste. The mashed potatoes were creamy, soft, and comforting. We also loved the Brussels sprouts and Caesar salad -- both were super solid sides. Drinks were perfect and balanced out the dishes really well. Service and atmosphere were great too. Would definitely come back to try more items on the menu next time we are in the area.

I wouldn't come here for the food, perhaps a drink and a small app.

We sat in the lounge area and it was perfect. Got the ham appetizer, the burger, fries, and the raspberry sorbet dessert. Everything was incredible, one of the best burgers I've had in Los Angeles. Service was also great. I even called about an hour after I got home because I started getting a scratchy throat and realized I didn't specifically ask if there were strawberries in the raspberry sorbet (I'm allergic and that was completely my mistake for not double checking before I chowed down) but the host that answered was super nice, I could hear in the background her double checking with a server, who then even double checked with the kitchen to make sure they were giving me the correct answer which I really really appreciate. Side note, no strawberries in the sorbet I'll most definitely be returning here in the future.

We ordered a bunch of cocktails along with a few glasses of red wine and champagne. The cocktails were definitely the highlight. We tried the Blackberry, Cucumber, Snow Pea, Tomato, and Daikon. The Tomato cocktail was my favorite by far -- savory, balanced, and not overly sweet. Blackberry was a close second, really refreshing and easy to drink. My first glass of champagne was unfortunately flat and pretty gross but to their credit they replaced it immediately once I mentioned it. Still, for an upscale restaurant, that was a little annoying to begin with. For food, we got the asparagus, burger, fries, abalone, and the bluefin tuna belly deviled eggs. The abalone was easily the standout dish of the night. Everything else ranged from just okay to forgettable. The burger sucked. Overall, I'd come back for drinks and would give the food another shot since the menu changes pretty frequently but this particular meal didn't totally hit for me.
