I'm always on the look out for a new food spot. Today, I craved comfort food and opted on a quick Google search to help me narrow my search. I read the reviews on this place and decided I would try it out . I dont regret it at all ! The customer service was beyond amazing and the jerk chicken melted in my mouth . It wasn't dry and had just the right amount of spicy without you needing a beverage. The rice and beans were also solid I look forward to trying more of the menu items !

The gigantic portions here! Jerk chicken, cabbage and rice

I'm surprised how this place isn't more popular- stumbled into this place when I googled Caribbean food having grown tired of The Islander (another carib restaurant nearby) lunch specials. Came here and ordered the small Jerk Chicken/BBQ chicken half-half with rice and beans. Jerk Chicken being the standard for measurement in my rating, I can say that this is the best Jerk I've had- crisp on the outside, fall-off-the-bone tender on the inside. Mark is also very generous with his helpings and ladles out hugeass portions if you're an eater, while being really congenial otherwise- a very welcoming place. Definitely going back for more! Update: I have since started preferring the 5 dollar Munch-n-Go option for lunch which is rice and Curry chicken with a free soda. The portions are finally human.

This is a great place if you're on a Jamaican kick and want some takeout with HUGE portions. Food 5/5: My girlfriend and I got the oxtail and curry goat. Bother we're super tender and literally the meat would fall off the bone. For oxtail, they give a massive portion with probably 6-7 pieces. The curry goat was also very good, it wasn't too salty which was great. It could've used more of a kick but it was still to die for. We also had the beef patties but they were nothing like the entrees. But we did come at the end of the day so they might have not been fresh. Price 5/5: The entrees are priced well, the oxtail was $13 for large and curry goat was $12 for large. The portions are HUGE so I would suggest getting the small. Recently been to Norah's also and this place gives better portions for less. So if you want takeout and more for your buck then go here!

Ordered the oxtails, they were mediocre. Not tender. Great serving size but if authentic is what you're looking for this isn't it.

Now what I will say is make sure you have your cash ready this is a cash only establishment which is not bad at all what you saw as a price is what you paid. Plus the specials that they had were cash only as well and they were worth the bucks. Nothing was too expensive great pricing I don't think I saw anything over $20. Plenty of drink options in the best little glasses that are complimentary of Ball, if you are familiar. As we arrive we met this really nice security guy super cool even came to check in on us at some point through the night an amazing bartender super cool great conversation great tattoos. Sorry I was tired so I didn't get a name but when you see him you will know it. So we did a little late night dipping and dabbing just got something light sweet chili wings perfectly cooked perfect flavor and adjust the right amount of sauce with the freshest celery and carrots! My partner was looking for something heavy so he indulged in the burger and the sweet tater w Pico queso. Delicious .. We remember seeing this place over the summer and all we remembered was a lot of people standing outside so we didn't realize what the bar was but this weekend we stopped in and were pleasantly surprised we will definitely be back and looking forward to it!

My short rib ragu was actually delicious. Unfortunately, my wife saved me half her chicken dish and the piece I ate turned out to still be raw. I stopped eating once I noticed, but the damage was already done. Also, quick PSA on the dirty martini: it's shaken with blue cheese and comes out looking more like blue cheese dressing than a martini. Definitely not for everyone, so just know what you're signing up for.

The restaurant was located in a multi-floor home on Wesley Lake, just around the corner from the hustle and bustle of Cookman Avenue. The first floor was more of a bar and lounge, and they had a live jazz band on the evening we visited. We checked in with the hostess and were escorted up to the second floor dining room, which was a charming spot that was breezy and comfortable, yet refined. The floor also had its own bar. Our server was on top of things, but was also clearly newer to the place. Regardless, once we got settled, she took our drink orders, which had taken us some time to decide on since the menu was creative and vast. I went with A Sidecar Named Desire, which included Courvoisier VSOP, Cointreau, Chinola passionfruit liqueur, and fresh lemon juice. I adore passion fruit and had always liked sidecars as well, so I figured it was worth a try, and I loved it! It had a good balance of tart sweetness and smokiness. My friend similarly enjoyed her spicy margarita, and we both imbibed while picking on some bread and herb butter. For our meal, we decided to start by sharing the Greek Salad, which was a massive bowl of romaine topped with tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, red onions, and Kalamata olives. We left off the feta cheese, but enjoyed the seasoned dressing made of red wine vinegar, honey, salt, oregano, and olive oil. It was a fresh and flavorful mix of vegetables that was a pleasure to eat. The entree options were endless and offered something for everyone. I wound up going with the Chilean Sea Bass, which was served over sweet onions and potatoes in a tomato herb reduction. The fish was tender and perfectly cooked. It was a light and tasty dish that seemed perfect for the Spring season. After our meals we were a bit too full for dessert, but we decided to get a second round of drinks, mainly because I was dying to try their Pistachio Espresso-Tini. Wow, was that drink delicious! It blended Ketel One Vodka, Mozart White Chocolate Liqueur, natural pistachio flavor, and fresh espresso. The coffee notes were not super prevalent, but the creaminess, nuttiness was the real highlight. It was a decadent way to end a delicious meal. After we settled the bill and headed downstairs, I noticed several bowls of after-dinner mints, which were a nice touch. From the relaxed atmosphere to the interesting and expansive menu, Moonstruck was a terrific option for our Asbury dinner experience.

The burgers are great, and the last time I tried their cheesesteak which normally comes with cherry peppers and red onion. I asked for it plain, and it was super delicious. Portion sizes are solid, and prices are reasonable considering the area. We actually ended up here because Pasta Volo -- one of my favorite spots in Asbury Park -- was closed that day. The Speakeatery made for a great backup. You order at the counter, and the service is decent. The space is long and narrow with some stool seating up front and more table and chair seating towards the back. The grill and kitchen are situated in the middle of the restaurant. The place only has indoor seating, which fits the speakeasy vibe nicely. Overall, I'd recommend The Speakeatery for breakfast or lunch when you're visiting Asbury Park for the day.
