It's about a 30 minute drive from us and it's worth every minute getting there, I would drive across boarders. I normally get eggs, sausage (I think it's home made 10/10) and home fries. Across the board 10/10, so good idk if they use bacon fat for the home fries but they're a home run. The French toast is also something else, you don't even need syrup, it's that moist. Wow!! I had such a great breakfast from thus restaurant. A friend decided to order take out one Sunday and it was such a good idea since there aren't many options near the hospital. Appar6that place is hopping on a weekend and they don't take reservations but it's good to know for my days off. We've ordered take out several times now and the food is always consistent. Breakfast today at the Marketside. I had never been there but, had read about the upcoming addition and figured I'd check it out. We arrived about 10am so the early breakfast crowd was gone and the lunch crowd wasn't there yet. Still, the place was jumping and many large groups. This is certainly a local favorite with a few dishes named after the late Sal Maggie. Service was prompt bringing us coffee. I had an omelette with spinach, ricotta & mushrooms while Yvonne had one with mushrooms and cheese. Both were delicious and came with choice of toast. Our pal in the kitchen sent us out some pancakes and French toast to sample as well. I always forget how much I enjoy a good pancake and this was top notch. The French toast was good too and both were garnished beautifully with some fresh bananas and berries. Pricing is average if not even a little lower than other diners. A regular unpretentious, casual spot that's worth another visit for sure. Looking forward to seeing the addition and the gorgeous courtyard patio. read more

This little yellow cafe is full of character, delicious food, and super friendly staff. Everything we ordered was amazing, and the waffle came with a mountain of fresh fruit on top. The owner came by multiple times to check on all the tables and was so generous and kind. My meal was one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had, and the home fries were buttery and perfectly cooked. We were tourists to Niagara Falls today, and found ourselves in need of a breakfast. Marketside Restaurant to the rescue! The Niagara Falls of today can seem like a ghost town in comparison to my childhood days when long queues of cars inched along the streets and thoroughfares seeking peeks at the falls, or entrance to any of the fun attractions. But today, it was easy to pick out the restaurant on Pine Avenue, as the parking lot was filled while other businesses seemed to be closed up. The entrance was bright and clean, and we were greeted and seated quickly by a very pleasant, efficient hostess. Almost immediately our order was placed and within 10 minutes, our amazing breakfasts arrived! About that time, the gregarious "Mike" strolled the filled-to-capacity dining room, greeting patrons with happy small talk and a gracious demeanor. He was genuinely honored that everyone chose his restaurant on this overcast Saturday morning in February. I ordered the Omelet Works for $11.11. Loaded with pepper, onion, mushroom, spinach , ham, sausage, bacon, and cheese this was a home run for me! The oven-roasted meats added an incredible flavor profile to this dish, and the melted cheese was divine! Probably THE BEST omelet I've ever enjoyed! This plate comes with two slices of buttered toast, which rounds out the meal very nicely. My dining companion ordered the Sal's Works which was similar to the Omelette Works with the addition of home fries. Again, an amazing breakfast for only $13.88. Our waitress asked where did we hail from and what brought us to their doors today. She said, "Welcome to the best restaurant in Niagara Falls!" I certainly have to agree with her! We give high marks to the Marketside for fast efficient service, great food nicely prepared and served without delay, sparklingly clean establishment with a family friendly vibe. As our coffees were poured, the locals came in for food and gathering in this clean, homey breakfast spot. They have a special breakfast called the Sal Maglie--a delicious loaded skillet but you can order it as you wish. My son ordered the pancakes and fruit and it was a beautiful plate. Everyone was happy with their selection and they have toast with bread from a local bakery. On a side note, it also looks like there is plenty of outdoor seating for warm weather dining. I visited here on a recent business trip and wasn't originally planning on coming to this exact restaurant, but it happened to be close to another one where the dining room was closed, so l quickly searched on yelp and luckily I found this one. Turns out, they have been operating since 1939, so that's always a good sign. Once inside, you will likely hear old timers talking about days past. The menu is nice, but super simple as they mainly just have various Sal mangie, omelettes, and pancakes. Sal mangie is just a breakfast potato and egg plate. But the one I ordered was "the works", it comes with nearly everything in the kitchen, like 6 different kinds of cheeses. I asked them to hold the American cheese. Restaurants in other parts of the US commonly call this a kitchen sink omelette. For $15, it was the priciest item on the menu; however, it is really good and filling. This particular Sal mangie comes with a bread of your choice, I asked for English muffin. I'm guessing most locals choose the Italian bread (slices), and the waitress gave me that instead of a muffin. I added orange juice, which was pretty good. Not sure it was fresh squeezed, but it did the job. read more

The food here was pretty good. We've had trouble finding decent places to eat so far in Niagara Falls, so were relieved to enjoy what was put in front of us here. The toast was great, and my son's waffle looked incredible! I do, however, have a couple of gripes. First off, they are cash only- and this wasn't indicated anywhere at all. We didn't find out until we tried to pay with credit. I don't often have cash on me, so I was grateful my fiancé did this time around, or we would have been in a bind. A sign at the front counter, on the outer door, or an indication on Yelp or on their Facebook that they only take cash would have been nice. Second, our waitress was gruff and standoffish- if not blatantly rude. When we came in, we walked in with our Starbucks from the morning that we hadn't yet finished... I know sometimes this can be frowned upon, but frankly, I'm pretty particular about how I like my coffee- and most restaurants don't make it that way (nor carry all of the espresso and special drink options you can get elsewhere). Being that I'm there to spend my money in your restaurant, and that I still bought the ($4 a glass!!) orange juice, I'm not sure why this would matter-- but as soon as we walked in, we heard this waitress and another chit chatting loudly about how rude it was for us to bring in outside drinks. Ma'am, what's actually much more rude is complaining about paying customers within earshot before you even seat them. We asked her to split our check and the response was "well, I've already written it down, but I GUESS I can"... And then our check came all together and she disappeared, so we didn't have the chance to ask again. Third- it's crowded. The tables were so close together that we couldn't sit down until the woman at the table next to us had finished getting up- there isn't enough room between the two tables to pull out a chair on each side. Fourth, there are very limited options here. I'm talking one page, one sided, double-spaced for the menu. Which is fine, it's just breakfast, but I was a little surprised at the lack of options. The menus were paper and very coffee-stained which honestly isn't that awful, but i don't understand why they wouldn't be using laminated menus that can be wiped clean if they want to reuse them. All in all, not a terrible experience- but it could definitely have been improved upon. And maybe do some customer service training with the wait staff. read more
