We stopped by this place for lunch after our visit to The Niagara Falls State Park. We ordered a whole pepperoni pizza pie and some chicken wings and we love them. The pizza was fresh made and came out hot. It was very cheesy and my kids love it. The amount of pepperoni was generous. The chicken wings were tasty. It was more like a self service sit down place which you could get your own drinks from the fridge and paid at the end of the meal. This is what you call a quintessential NY pizzeria. No muss and no fuss. What they do have is a very friendly staff. The one employee immediately welcomed us when we stepped in and gave us instructions on how their ordering process goes. The older gentleman was a sweet and welcoming guy. He brought over a horseshoe magic trick for my kids. They weren't able to solve the trick, but their old dad knows a thing or two and figured it out. Now the food: I generally don't gravitate to pizza for food when out of town, unless it's a small, local business. Those are the types of places that generally make legitimately good pizza. Donatello's does not disappoint. The pizza had the right amount of sauce and very tasty without tasting sweet as some of the national chains usually taste like. The other key factor into a good pizza is the crust. When I saw one of my kids move to throw away their crust, I almost screamed! Nope. That crust is entering my belly! As I alluded to earlier, the place is not much to look at. It adds to its charm and the fact that a large, if not majority, portion of their business is takeout. After visiting Niagara Falls from the New York side, we were ready for lunch. We used Yelp to look for a good place to eat and discovered Donatello's, which is very close to the Niagara Falls International Rainbow Bridge. Since Donatello's received an average of a 4.5 star review and had over 270 reviews, we figured we would try out this mom & pop restaurant. There is no parking lot, so you have to find street parking, which may be difficult during the peak hours. It is self-seating inside, so you order first and find a table to sit. As for the food, I didn't think it was all special. The wings were just okay, but I really liked their service and enjoyed the friendly conversation with the owner. He shared his story that his son's favorite character was Donatello from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He does have some Donatello artwork and toys around his restaurant. Overall.., I would give this place a 3.5 star review. I'm willing to back here to try out his other items the next time I'm visiting Niagara Fall from the New York side. read more

What we ordered was a beef on weck sandwich (a regional specialty featuring horseradish), a cheeseburger, a side of garlic bread, and a couple cans of Coke. The order came promptly. What we got were soggy and cold fries with our sandwiches, lukecold bread that didn't taste at all like garlic. My sandwich was okay, but my horseradish-loving wife reported that the beef on weck was barely edible. And for this meal, we paid $55, including tip. We would have had far more food, hot to boot, if we'd just stopped in at a pizza place on the way back to the hotel. We would NOT patronize this place again. read more
