This place has sweet locals in spades. But the food is just ok, and the beer selection is just mass-produced lagers. In all fairness, we didn't try the wings; we just had a bunch of appetizers. They were all fine, but they were most likely premade, frozen and then fried. The good news: the staff were great. Super friendly and helpful. Also, the bar itself was a cool, divey sports bar vibe. Totally ok if you're looking for a local watering hole. Not a great option for killer food.

We went during a Monday afternoon, which was probably the best time since we were seeking a "family…read morefriendly" lunch spot. There were more than a few day drinkers hanging around the bar and patio, but no one seemed inebriated. To be honest, though, I probably wouldn't bring my kids here on a Friday or Saturday night. It was obvious we weren't locals and even more obvious we were there to eat (not drink), but I did not feel at all uncomfortable or out of place. Our server (a blond barkeep) was super duper nice. She was friendly, pleasant, and chatty. She definitely enhanced our visit! And the food was totally awesome! It was our first time having poutine and I'm not sure it was standard (it had shredded cheese instead of cheese curds) but it was delicious! Like really really really good. The burger was juicy and thick. The fries were totally yummy. Kid #1 said the chicken parm sandwich was good, and I thoroughly enjoyed my Philly cheesesteak. The prices were totally reasonable, too! Definitely a bargain considering the decent price for excellent food! For sure we'd visit Cool Hand Luke's again!

Well let me tell you, this place is definitely on point. They have such a great vibe to them, and the food is really really good. So I expected this one to be just as good as the other one. I was not disappointed! I love the exterior of the building, has a really cool modern feel. When you walk in. It is a very open concept. The colors are bright and cheery, and everything is well lit and comfortable.. One thing I love about Canada is the politeness of the wait staff. I have never been to a place where I have felt like I was an inconvenience. They really go out of their way to make you feel at home regardless of what place I've ever been to. I decided for the orange juice and coffee to start my morning with and was not disappointed in the least, the orange juice tasted fresh and wonderful and the coffee was absolutely on point. Point. Perusing the menu I decided upon the steak and eggs, asked for the steak medium, and the potatoes extra crispy. It only took a few moments for the food to get out. The steak was cooked perfectly and seasoned to perfection. The potatoes were absolutely crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. Jesus is exactly how I like them. The eggs were done very well. I asked for them fried hard and they delivered. The toast was wonderful as well as was the jam which I believe is still the homemade jam that I had at the last point. You really have to pick up a jar of the to take home with you. Bottom line? Stacked is now two for two in my list, and that's good enough for me to go for a third round. This place is definitely on point if you're looking for a really good breakfast to just relax and ease into your day.

For some reason they made his item, let it sit 10 minutes and then made mine. During this time we were treated to the counter girl (short, with a light brown pony tail) loudly laughing and making fun of a customer who had called in a complaint about their order. Way to go on professionalism. We got home and I opened my sub which I had asked for no lettuce on. I didn't notice anything off at first due to the tzatziki having a lot of garlic. Took my first bite and IMMEDIATELY spit it out. I can deal with an order request being overlooked, but there was an easily identifiable and totally overwhelming taste of rot. I pulled the sub apart to figure out where it was coming from. When I found the lettuce (that I had told them not to put on), the overpowering rotten smell matched that of what I had just tasted. So basically, if you want to wait for a long time for hot food that is left out for long periods of time on a cold counter to cool (doesn't the health board have something to say on that topic?) only to finally receive food that smells and tastes rotten this is the perfect place for you to go. The rude staff floor show does help with passing the wait time though, I will say that for them.

(A particularly fond memory is sitting in the car with my brother after we had ordered through the car hop service at the former Granville House, listening to Dr. Bundolo's Pandemonium Medicine Show on CBC, and seeing the tray swaying up and down because we were laughing so hard the car was shaking.) That is, until I moved to Ontario, because White Spot is a B.C.-only kind of place. Since then, they have spun out Triple O's. You can find them in Alberta, Ontario, and even Hong Kong. Triple O's is a kind of mini-White Spot, but it's actually sort of the "best of" from the White Spot I remember: burgers, fish and chips, and shakes (minus the "Chicken Pick'ns", which, sadly, have also disappeared from White Spot's menu). White Spot still offers those dishes, plus a bunch of more upscale fare, and dining at White Spot is no longer affordable. Now, it's the kind of place you go for special occasions (unless money is no object). And, sadly, Triple O's is also at the top end of pricing for fast food joints. But still, for this homesick B.C. boy, chowing down on a Legendary burger took me back. It's still as good as I remember. But, to be fair to those who didn't grow up with White Spot, it may just come across as good, but overpriced.
