My first taste of reptile! I've had bison and buffalo meat before but this was my first taste of alligator meat! I was hesitant but I needed to try it. Taste like chicken! no wait... taste like pork? quail? hmm... it had an interesting taste and texture and it's juicy and chewy but overall pretty good. Husband will not have any of it so he waited for me while I finished my alligator stick. LoL! Mmm... This market is located in one of the best seafood markets in the New Orleans area. They offer a wide variety of seafood and meat. It is not your regular Safeway market. LoL! They also sold stuffed artichokes, fried okra, alligator sausage, andouille sausage, boudin, alligator and crawfish sticks, oyster plates, fried fish, turkey necks, as well as po' boys and homemade cracklins and several grocery items. If you want to sample the local Cajun cuisine, come here. It is a market and they have very small seating area inside and two picnic tables outside. Plenty of parking in an old, gravel parking lot shared with the Westwego Shrimp lot. Seems to be a popular place among locals and tourists! We came here after our swamp adventure tour. Review #1491

    Po boy

Great market with all the po boy options. Can buy and grill at home also. Delicious gator bites and other cooked meats. I came here after a swamp fan boat and had a great lunch. Would recommend stopping in for a bit or pickup some meat to grill at home!

This is a cool little store/bodega/hot food place with no frills (really...no frills). It's kind of divey, but not in a dirty way. It's in a little area of stores and shacks where you can buy fresh seafood right off the boats from that day. Anyway, I ordered a fish po boy and fries, but I also picked up some spicy boudin, andouille sausage, and some cracklins. They also have frozen stuffed chicken, frozen rabbit, tamales, and other stuff. The po boy was good, and fries were browned just as I asked for. There is plenty of parking, it's pretty small in the store, just 2 or 3 small tables. A good place to get a bite for lunch or pick up some stuff.

This is the only place here to get food to eat. I want to give a 3.5 stars bc their service was really good for a mom and pop shop. You get entrapped with the smell of freshly smoked andouille homemade sausage! It's being smoked right outside. Definitely deserves a 5 star for flavor! If you want to eat in store, it will be on a stick and tossed into the deep fryer. We ordered two types of fried plate dishes since they did not have a combo that included fish, shrimp and oysters. At $16, we expected more than 8 pieces of oysters that were breaded with fish breading and fried. It came with fries but you can tell it was old fries. Not sure why tho since it was right about lunch time. Our fish and shrimp plate was even sadder. Our shrimps were like micro shrimps. It was definitely the $2/lb shrimp that you get from the market right outside the store. Super super tiny you almost thought it was crunchies (like from long johns). The fish was good. It wasn't over cooked, nice crunch texture. We got 4 pieces of fish and just a small handful of the tiny shrimps. Again...fries...undercooked and old. I did order the crawfish sausage with green onions! That was delish. Not overly salty...right texture and of course it was on a stick and deep fried. My mom really liked it and bought the smoked cold version to go. The cracklings were super super hard. It was almost inedible bc of the texture and of the enormous amounts salt seasoning. I'm sure it was the bottom of the barrel. It was disappointing! Overall, yes to the sausage, and yes to the fried fish. Ask for extra crispy fries next time. But that's it!

This place is AMAZING!!! The alligator sausage cooked outside is to die for. Wash it back with an ice cold Strawberry Abita. We were lucky enough to hang with the owner for a bit while he was cooking on the bbq! Super nice guy! Go Support his business! Wish I could have bought even more stuff to bring home and cook! All the meats look great! Will be back in the future to try that crawdad sausage!

Shrimp plate with fries and French bread (no bread) :/

Unfortunately Market Wego was disappointing. My co-workers decided we wanted fresh Louisiana seafood, and what better place than a seafood market with all types of fresh caught fish and shrimp... well it FAILED! Staff was friendly but the platter was such a let down. Tiny shrimp that should be used in a salad or dressing, NOT FRIED! Fries were bland should have been sprinkled with salt. And the French bread wasn't disappointing because it was never included in the plate. Too bad the location is great and it has so much potential! SMH

The real deal! We had the oyster plate and the shrimp plate. Both were excellent. Prices are reasonable. Great choice for authentic Louisiana cuisine.

Great food for the price. Its a small menu, but it is done right. The rest of the market has some great items too.

Been here a couple of times. This food is amazing! They never disappoint! Nice feeling when walking…read morein and welcoming staff! Nice setting, clean, and small. Back to the best part...the food! Nothing is left without seasoning. The chicken and waffles didn't even need butter. The French toast is fantastic as always(they were out of praline sauce, but the blueberry reduction was really good as well). Last up is the shrimp and grits omelette, this thing is huge and packed with flavor. The omelette is topped with shrimp and sauce, and then stuffed with shrimp and grits! Chef Myron is going to need a bigger diner room when word gets out about them. Thanks for never disappointing, Lebrane's!

Today I gave another eatery a try to give my taste buds a change in my dietary intake. I did…read morereviewed LaBrane's menu prior to arrival and elected to have the Lasagna Baked, Fried Half Platter substituted the Fries for Mac & Cheese for an additional $3.00. The same Mac & Cheese was listed for $4.00. It was never explained of a cost difference after being told I can substitute because so I was going to get the Mac & Cheese regardless to try it out. I also ordered the Baked Bread Pudding. Placing the order took a little time and the Kiosk seemed to be a little cumbersome. Paying attention to my receipt, I see a To Go Fee of. $0.75 which isn't much but it was just an observation. Service is not quick! Order was placed at 11:57 and I received my close to an hour later. So I took a seat and patiently waited for my name to be call. Started paying attention to other patrons who were dining in and waiting for their food. Each table had people sitting down and having casual conversation. I counted about 21 people including myself. The atmosphere was pleasant but it was not giving. They had music playing from station 107.5. I'm a stickler for sanitation and it's the little things that matter....dipping cups in an ice machine vice using a ice scooper, wearing gloves particularly when servicing food to those dining in and not using a tray bring out food. Simply doing too much to not be consistently washing hands. Same person taking away soiled trays is bringing out food. One customer had to ask for utensils for his Togo orders as he didn't have any. A second customer just got her Togo order and had to ask for utensils as well. Just saying with a To Go Fee, you think that someone will check or maybe they are just overwhelmed with the services they are trying to provide. 30 minutes later, I'm still patiently waiting and listening to Drake with my AirPods in. So this is heavily leaning towards a One Shot One Kill for me. This business had 6 potential customers who came in and walked out. I witnessed four potential customers who were never greeted or given an explanation as to how the operation goes. It's safe to say they more than likely will not be coming back. They were on the lure but the lack of acknowledgment allowed them to get away. Update: Got my food in To Go containers at approximately 56 minutes after paying for my order. I did check my bag before leaving and no utensils could be found. Once I got back to my office, I saw that they did place a fork in each tray which was essentially covered with food as it was not separated. I would prefer to have a utensil pack or a knife and fork wrapped in a napkin. Guess only reason is that my food all being cooked fresh as it's ordered Joking How was the food? Fish and Shrimp: Tasty with a nice consistency for then breading. Lasagna: Simply did not have the layers for me as meat sauce, noodles, cheese filling (did not exist. The top layer of the lasagna had some hard spots and the ends of the noodle were crunchy. The sauce beneath it was on the sweat side and did not match the same flavor of the lasagna itself. Mac & Cheese: Peppery flavor with cheese tasting more on the Velvetta side. I never pictured Mac & Cheese with shells. Surely was not expecting it to be like this. Bread Pudding: Best Part of the Meal. The flavor, consistency and sweetness were all on point! . They did have sauce on the Menu for a $1 but prior to my order, I thought a sauce was automatic like many other locations serve. I did not let my emotions overtake my Honest review!
