This is the older of two Market Basket grocery stores in the area. They offer bakery services, a deli, prepared foods and 'meals to go' to heat at home, beer and wine, frozen foods, butcher counter, seafood, cheeses and lots of dairy. There is a health and beauty aisle as well as paper products and storage needs. Seasonally they offer items such as bug spray in warm weather and ice melt in winter. There is a small organic produce area as well as other organic items scattered throughout the store. They also offer alternative milk products. Their inventory covers most everything you could want and they have their own brand which saves some money. Gift cards are always available in whatever denomination you choose. Seasonal food items are often located toward the front of the store such as holiday candy and sometimes small gift items. Fresh flowers are located near produce. Lots of parking. This review is for the market basket in Tuscan village. Overall, the store is clean and very big. But, over the last few weeks, out of stocks seem to be increasing. But my two biggest complaints are, one, I shop on Saturday mornings, and the kitchen NEVER has pizza ready. I'm not going to make multiple trips to a store when I should be able to get what I want when I'm there. My second complaint is with the checkout. Never do the cashiers ever count my change back to me, and most of the time, they don't even thank me. read more

OK so this is now the third and smallest/ oldest MB here in Salem as the new one opened recently on Central St at the old Rockingham Park site. So they have been doing some changes here by adding some prepared foods (salads, subs, fried chicken, wings, etc) much like the other stores with the cafe. They are also adding more MB brand foods, which are decent quality. This is still the easiest store to go in and grab something (easy in, easy out) if you will. The staff here are great, always friendly and helpful and they never run out of specials. Not as crowded as the other 2 MB's (265 Broadway and Central St). read more

I worked at Demoulas down the road when I was 16. Just came from NC to visit my Dad. I am delighted to have been able to buy knishes and Polar birch beer! One of my FAV of all the Market Basket supermarkets. Yes, it's quite elderly. Yes, they don't always carry what the larger ones do...the parking lot isn't pristine, I could go on with maybe another negative or two. BUT the positives far outnumber the negatives. The staff that work here are great. Whoever chose these employees for this store knew what they were doing. They all make up an awesome team! They will go the extra mile ... I've seen them help older customers shop, take groceries out to their cars, among other just plain, ' the right thing to do " behavior. The store is much smaller, making it easier to go from end to end as far as I'm concerned. If you are in a hurry? This is the store for you... It's always in & out. Very rarely a line. I've noticed that they have been adding prepared foods lately. They have a nice aisle with wine with several price points - SO convenient! I know masks are not required for employees if they are vaccinated but I didn't get any cold cuts because the person behind the counter did not have a mask on. Maybe implement that if you are handing food or preparing food maybe have them put masks on. I don't think I would feel comfortable buying these items if the person behind the counter isn't wearing a mask. I believe a lot of people probably feel this way. read more

I reside 20 minutes south of Boston and I travel to Salem, NH to go grocery shopping. They have fresh seafood. I love it because it is not packaged like the Market Basket in Somerville, MA. I love their seafood salad, it is very delicious. The deli meat is fresh. I love the prices. However they did increase as a result of the high gas prices. They have more of a selection than the store in Somerville, MA. The store is always clean and the shelves are always stocked. I love it because I can beer. I bought 4 cases of Heineken and 1 case of Corona for the last party that I hosted. Beer in Somerville? No way! The last thing that I must say is that there is no taxes in NH. It is worth the trip from Beantown. read more

Ok, no joke, you've got to shop here. If you buy only one item in the store, it should be a jelly donut from their bakery. It's manna, with perfect jelly to dough ratio, ample donut diameter and uber fresh. I drive here from Boston for this donut. Second item to buy is the breakfast sandwich - sausage, egg and cheese on and english muffin. Once you're satiated, shop the rest of the store for great buys, super helpful and friendly staff and decent plastic shopping bags (for all of you who repurpose them). I always walk out with about 10 bags of groceries for short money. Pretty cool also that they double-side print their grocery receipts! read more

You can't beat market basket prices. Staff is friendly. It's still busy despite the newer and larger store down the street.

OK so I love all Market Baskets equally, deal with it...Well except for when they are completely ghetto. Oh well. This one is borderline, but I rate it based on prices and selection. While customers are pretty much all masked, though I don't think NH requires it, the employees are a different story. I am just noticing some store. Managers are starting to wear masks, news hasn't reached their produce department yet? They are only not wearing masks, THEY ARE NOT KEEPING ANY KIND OF SOCIAL DISTANCING, between each other, but more importantly, they ARE NOT MAINTAINING DISTANCE FROM THE CUSTOMERS. On my last 3, yes 3, weekly visit to this store, 2 employees there are totally unacceptable behavior. This male and female employees are almost in a compromising position, and I don't mean only protocol wise, if you know what I mean. The woman was leaning against the produce bags, shooting the breeze, not moving and I had to pick up my produce almost pushed up against her! She is suppose to be working a different produce counter several feet away from her "boyfriend". I know they are blatantly not wearing their masks because at my last visit all other employees had their masks on, and these two beauties reached in their pockets and grabbed out a mask, and half a****ly put them in. I guess their boss was nearby. read more

Personally I don't mind shopping there but I'm usually just in and out with a few things on my grocery list. But working there is an absolute nightmare. I know I just started working there but I get absolutely no respect from any of my "superiors" that work there. I would advise that if you're thinking of working here anytime that you should rethink it and look for a job elsewhere. I haven't even worked there for a solid three weeks and I already can't wait to leave but I have no idea where else to look. read more

Great place to do shopping. The produce is always fresh and a good selection, the fish selection rivals a fish market for selection. The prices are cheaper than the other three market chains in my area. I shop early in the morning to avoid the massive crowds but in doing so the aisles are sometimes blocked with items that the clerks are putting on the shelves. The store manager Al Davis has a store to be proud of. I try to get Pat S. cashier 198 if possible, she is fast, friendly and very courtesy. Why 4 stars and not five the aisles at the time I go usually are congested with people loading the shelves, may I am not fair but that is how I feel. read more

a few reasons why I LOVE this particular location: *Fresh Baked Parisian Bread at 6PM the day after Christmas *a HUGE beer and wine collection *fully staffed bakery, deli & seafood counters at all times *great deals on great food. picked up 2 Vermont Sharp Cheddar 10oz blocks for $4 *HUGE produce department *lots of parking *really nice staff all around *getting a month's worth of essentials for under $50 and still have money to splurge on wine.. And to think that people go across the street and shop at Shaw's. I know I don't. This has to be the best location in the area. read more

The ONLY reason why I go to Market Basket is because the prices are so low! If they weren't I would not subject myself to this place. Some locations are better than others but all MB's in my honest opinion are inherently filled with people I would rather not be around. This store blows Shaws right out of the water. I went here at 8 o' clock in the morning one Saturday. In driving there, I passed Shaw's and they only had 6 cars in the parking lot where MB's lot was already half full.. Everyone shops at this one location instead of the others for some reason and it's ALWAYS packed! People are definitely on to something at the Salem MB... The cashiers and sackers are quick and ready to move you out of there in a timely fashion, great job. The cake decorators do an amazing job in Salem, where as other stores have a lot of gaudy cakes with way too many colours and too much frosting. Good job cake ladies!! I hope the new store next to Home Depot will have the same if not better success.. read more

Let me first say that I am a vendor as well as a customer and I can safely say that I buy everything here whenever possible Their selection is very good customer service is first rate and their prices can't be beat now I will say that I have shopped the supercenter down the street once or twice and price is comparible but the selection is not and i've received better customer service at the massachusettes dmv. The only bad thing I can say is that in late April I would try to do more shopping in this store during the week and not the weekend because they will be closing the DeMoulas down the street and building a new one so unless you want to stand in the checkout for over an hour after demoulas is closed you should adjust your shopping habits and try to shop on Tuesday-Thursday and you may avoid the long lines once again it closes sometime in April when theEpping store opens. read more

This place is pretty decent, but no where close to Hannafords or the MB down the street. The cashiers are quick and the deli is fresh, but the shelves are NEVER stocked! They would've gotten a much better rating if they hired better people to work in the ends department. read more

I LOVE Market Basket. When I was young, I went to the store in Billerica with my Mom. Now, I live in Salem NH and go to the new Market Basket. Its a great store. The prices are the best. They also have a wonderful selection of products. They have an excellent 'ethnic' food aisle. The deli is fantastic. They sell fresh fish. They have a huge dairy aisle. I can not imagine anyone ever going to any other local market. The other area stores all have ridiculously high prices. Market Basket can get crowded on Saturday and Sunday afternoon. If you go then, be patient. If you can't take the crowds, try to shop early or late. read more

My place to food shop every week for 17+ years and have been happy since with selection and price. Only complaint is they open at 7:00 a.m. for customers and they have employees just coming in at the same time. Then they just start stocking things at 7:00 a.m. so their are no meats out at this time. Sometimes milk is not their but definetly beef, chicken and veggies are usually missing. Come on MB if you open at 7:00 a.m. for custmers you should have product on the shelves. read more

The prices are very good and the produce always fresh. I would give it 5 stars but one thing I don't like is the kids blocking the aisles stocking the shelves. I also think some of them need to be taught that I am the customer. It is their job to get out of the way and let me through and not the other way around. The store is always jam packed crowded but I can see why. There is also tons of old people that want to kill you with their shopping carts but that's not MB's fault. read more

If you are doing the shopping for an elderly person who can't get out to the store to shop for themselves Market Basket is not the place to shop for them. Despite being authorized to use my mother's card to purchase her necessities the Market Basket manager refused to allow me to purchase her groceries. This after wasting over an hour in the store doing the shopping. I even called the Market Basket headquarters in Tewksbury, MA to see if they could help us find a solution to this. Not only did they not even apologize for the inconvenience they basically told me there was no way I could shop for her in any of their stores using her card. Bottom line is this supermarket chain is stuck back in the stone age and has archaic policies that discriminate against the elderly. I am just completely outraged by the way I was treated by both the manager of this store and the Demoulas / Market Basket corporate offices. read more
