This review is for the Markets Kitchen sandwich bar. Extremely rude service. If I could rate zero stars, I absolutely would. I had two separate incidents here. The first was my order continuously being skipped over a few weeks ago. I gave up with that and got something from the hot bar. Today, I ordered a steak bomb sub from the counter. My friend ordered two chicken sandwiches. These people let my order get stolen by another customer. They then made another steak bomb for me and proceeded to wrap up a regular steak and cheese which barely had anything. They left the other sub on the counter unwrapped before by standing customers had to step in before they finally gave me the sub I asked for. Please, NEVER order from this counter. The employees were nothing but rude to me. These people should be ashamed for this. Very unprofessional. read more

Since Market Basket removed Arthur DeMoules' products, they have become increasingly hard to find. The rice cakes packages have been out for two months, the Light House salad seasonings have disappeared, and the basic Outshine Strawberry popsicles are nowhere to be found. For the fruit, just don't buy it, unless you want to throw it out. I think it is time to admit that they fired the wrong person! read more

there have been many times when we first started shopping at this location where we got home to find that the food we purchased was expired. i've learned to get diligent about checking the expiration dates on any items before i purchase them. i've found products on the shelves, such as bags of bagels, that have been long expired, up to two weeks past their exp date. read more

The fish dept used to offer wonderful cod loins. They are sub par now. I've noticed that business here is way off. Not too hard to park anymore. Doesn't matter. I am taking my business elsewhere. Prices are now on par with all the grocery chains read more

Don't sleep on this place. I normally would never order takeout food from a supermarket but the food from Market's Kitchen is pretty darn good. My son loves the magnum wings and I can testify that the steak and cheese sub and the Italian sub are much, much better than you'd expect! The sandwiches are made to order and they give you a really big sub for like $5-$7. What's even cuter: they know the sub is big and they cut it in half and even wrap it as two separate subs (one-for-today, one-for-tomorrow style) knowing you won't be able to finish it in one sitting. They have a deli-ticket system and the really irritating thing is people grab a ticket and walk away. So yea, the waiting game can be aggressive, especially on a Sunday. If you're getting a ticket and your number is almost up, the people behind the counter make the sandwiches pretty quickly, there's no need to walk around, just stay there! I watched a kid today bang out my Italian sub in less than a minute. Everything is made to order right in front of you so there's very little room for error. I've always ordered my food to take home, but there is a seating area behind their coffee shop where you can also pay for your food if you don't feel like waiting in line at a register. To be clear, there is also a section nearby with grab and go premade sandwiches, salads, etc. I recommend you order at the counter unless you are in a rush. read more

I always purchase products at this market in Danvers/Peabody Ma. but Ive been looking for the soup called ITS GREEK TO ME which I always buy ther and at the Middleton,Ma store but I cant fi;nd it at either place now. It actually seems it has been replaced with another brand. This is very upsetting since it was about ;the only local market that carried this soup. Are they just out of stock and will I be able to buy it there again or do I have to search on line for somewhere to purchase this terrific soup. Prices are good, place seems clean. Bathrooms not always clean. They have a large variety of foods. Fruits aren't as good as other supermarkets. The service isn't the best. Mostly Spanish people that dont speak English work there. It's not helpful or convenient when the employees don't understand you. Would make sense to hire English speaking people as well in a town with mostly English speaking people. Place can be crowded and chaotic most of the time. I don't enjoy shopping or being in this store. Many employees don't speak English and consequently get orders wrong in deli and cafe. They spend time talking to each other in Spanish while customers wait for their attention. I've talked to the manager a few times about employees sitting in cafe on their breaks while playing audio on phones without earbuds etc. Since there is already a large TV, it really makes it difficult with all the various things playing. He said he would take care of it, but it keeps happening. Also a large number of shoppers are talking on phone while shopping which means they are distracted and add to the congestion and feeling of chaos in the store. So all in all it's not a place that I want to go to too often. The one in Rowley is much nicer. read more

Market Basket reviews need an update. I see many of them are years old and many plagued by the period of the pandemic. In my opinion, this is a quality store.is large large so the turnover is great. The produce is fresh, the dairy is very fresh, and the selections are many. When you compare the pricing to the other local stores, the savings are substantial. Someone may be having a grumpy day, but for the most part people are helpful. I admire what the owner does to help all the employees, he is loyal. First let me say that the store itself is awesome! It's clean, lots of variety and good prices. The reason I can't give it more stars is the customer service is the worst I think I've ever experienced!! As I left yesterday I started looking at every single employee, not 1 had a smile. At least 15-20 employees. Honestly for customer service I'd give 0 stars! They don't talk to you, barely a hello. It's weird to me. I don't expect to have a full on conversation but why are they so lacking as just being courteous?? That's the job! I just hope someone from management would see the reviews and work with staff on being more friendly and approachable. read more

Long ago I refused to shop at Market Basket. The stores were so crowded, and the aisles so narrow.. As time went on I succumbed to shopping at Market Basket in Middleton I absolutely dreaded going there! Everyone was so rude and vicious. Customers and employees alike!! Honestly, I truly thought I'd die in that terrible place. It was SO stressful!! Thankfully I decided to go to the Danvers location, what a difference!!!!!!!! They have remodeled and it's absolutely stunning!! I can't explain what a difference going to this market basket has been for me! Yes, the prices are pretty high- but much lower than other grocery stores. (inflation) You can still get a bargain here on certain things. Nowadays you must watch every cent. I was able to get some pork chops for 4 bucks and some chuck stew beef for 6 bucks. And I scored some boneless chicken breasts, two in a pack for 3.45!! Sadly the produce was ridiculously high priced, but it's even more elsewhere... if anyone is reading this go get a turkey now! I got 2 for 10 and 12 dollars. I heard a rumor from the butcher after the turkeys sell out that will be it... Let's all fight this situation and do all we can to get through!!!! If you take the time to look through the store you really can find bargains. Not on eggs, butter, or beef tho... although sometimes they do have meat on sale. Sigh........ read more

Market Basket in Danvers MA is absolutely the worst Market Basket I've been to. I've never been able to complete my shopping there. Always running out of stock on some pretty basic items. The store is currently a disaster since it appears they unnecessarily rearranging it and I had a manager direct to aisle 15 for what I was looking for(soda) and there was no aisle 15, there was aisle 12, then three unnumbered empty aisles, then aisle 18. Today I was disappointed to find that there was no fresh parsley in the store... No flat leaf or curly, nothing. Navigating my way through a busy Sunday morning check out, my dismay was only compounded when I got snapped at by the cashier, Julianna, for putting my large package of Poland Springs on the belt. I know that sometimes they scan those things directly from the shopping cart, but it is not a 100% given... Worst customer service: does not stand behind their product. I have been a regular at this location for the past four years until today. And I must say I never want to come back. The last can of my Canada Dry Seltzer water 12 pack came empty with a defect. When I went into the store expecting that they would surely offer an exchange or a refund. To my surprise, they asked where the rest of the 11 cans are, and denied me exchange or return. If one can is damaged in a 12 pack is that not a defective product? I got to say this place has taken a tumble. The checkout has become ridiculous. It seems like every weekend it looks like the day before Thanksgiving with the lines that go through the entire store. I also have noticed they have hired some older workers that are miserable. I had one rudely bark out orders when I was trying to put my stuff on the counter. Only $3 but still had to throw half my lunch away as the nuggets were wayyyy past their time. Quality control is a must to me, and the lighting was off so I couldnt spot it myself. I LOVE this Market Basket. I don't care for the one in Salem at all, but this one I honestly just love. Back in 2008, my father worked at the Town Fair Tire right next to Market Basket, so we'd go and pick him up from there and go to Market Basket afterward. We were going there A LOT. Now, this was the same time season 7 of American Idol was on. Throughout the season, I grew to love David Archuleta, and at this Market Basket, I had many David related moments, and that is why I love it there. I got my first David poster there, and I remember buying an issue of J14 magazine there because there was an article about him. I remember looking through numerous magazines he was in and I remember my surroundings, and til this day I associate that time with this Market Basket. Those moments in 2008 were life changing as I became a fan of David and became so greatly inspired by him, and that is why I love this Market Basket. The spring time always reminds me of it, since that was mainly when all this took place, so mostly during the spring I love going there and reminiscing on those days back in 2008 and though I didn't appreciate them at the time, they mean so much to me now. This Market Basket symbolizes when I became a fan of David and when it all began, and for that, I give this store 5 stars. Where it began, I can't begin to know when, But then I know it's growing strong, Was in the spring, And spring became the summer, Who'd believe you'd come along? - David's version of "Sweet Caroline". Anyway, I liked the $1.99 donuts cause I'm fat. We bought some Cod and that was tasty too. The prepared sushi was OK. I thought the selection of International foods (eg Aloe drink) was above average. I don't like the store! To be completely honest, I hate it! It always stinks in there, especially if you pass by the fridges with seafood. It smells so badly it makes me nauseous. They never have ripe fruits and only occasionally some avocados, most likely you will find them already overripe. Even now in summer time they sell green bananas, avocados hard as rocks, yesterday I bought baby carrots which were somewhat unfresh. The bathroom is never neat and clear, no toilet paper, and stinky! I don't recommend to buy any seafood, sussi or rolls over there because I don't think it's fresh considering the odor you can smell aisles away. read more

Not only is this store carrying the brands I want but a) they're less expensive, b) they're fresher, c) they're easy to find in the store, and more. MB's employees are better trained and are more intelligent and knowledgeable about the locations of items than any other store I've been in. They're polite, helpful, civilized, and act like your friend that's on YOUR side of any issues. The place is clean, has an inexpensive lunch/dinner option always available. I like this latter because I stop there on my drive back and forth to and from Boston on a fairly frequent basis. I can count on finding a healthy and tasty hot meal when I get there to do my 2-week shopping. I short, I dearly wish you had a store nearer to where I live in Northport, Maine. This place is a shit show. I love MB don't get me wrong it's just this particular one i'd rather have a root canal than shop in. It's always packed wall to wall with people no matter when you go. The store needs more space. You can't shop and look without someone standing over you wanting to be exactly where you want to be. The only draw (if you call it that) is the big Markets Kitchen which serves cool things like Sicilian style pizza which I haven't seen at any of my other MBs. Now aside from that if I get the chance and don't want anything from Markets Kitchen I venture to Middleton and I live in Danvers. That shows you how much I despise shopping here. It's not dirty or anything just overcrowded and needing more space. If you have that many people coming to your store on a regular basis you deserve a bigger store like the Wilmington store size wise. I enjoy shopping there because it's spread out and you don't have people on your heels except for maybe snowstorms and holidays. If they decide to update and give it the space it deserves I will definitely update my review. read more

I usually do my grocery shopping early on weekend days, but due to other errands, I was forced to come here on a Sunday afternoon a couple of weeks ago. It was a huge disappointment as it turns out. There were several staple items that they were out of/had not been restocked, including 2% organic milk, spinach, potatoes, strawberries etc. In addition to that, the baguette we bought (the last one in one of the baskets in the bread section) tasted like it was 3 days old (very rubbery), the guy at the fish counter, as well as the woman who packed our deli did such an awful job that we had to unpack and repack both while still at the store. The packages looked like they were wrapped by a 5 year old (pieces of fish/deli were sticking out) and the fish guy put the price sticker on the fish part that was sticking out. Had to ask him for a bag 3 times. After getting home, we found chunks of something else on our deli slices (gross). The swordfish was clearly nor fresh and had the fishy smell and murky, dark color that same night. In addition to all that, the way the isles are set up is ridiculous. It is already a problem for two carriages to pass one another, so you would think that space management would be important to them. Instead, there were several isles where random products were just placed somewhere in a corner, blocking parts of an already tight isle. It seems like this place in general is a mess or does not have any supervisory personnel on staff. Do yourself a favor and go the the Chelsea Market Basket instead. The two places are like day and night when it comes to product availability, the ability of the workers, cleanliness, the space, as well as the layout of the store. read more

Ok, why are people complaining about a CROWDED parking lot? The parking lot is HUGE. There's parking on the side, out front, WAY OUT FRONT, to the right, WAY OUT FRONT TO THE RIGHT... it's EVERYWHERE! Maybe there'd be no obesity epidemic if people didn't view walking an extra 100 feet as a negative aspect of a great supermarket...! That being said, ROTISSERRIE CHICKENS FOR $3.99 COOKED, SAY WHAAAAA??!?!?! Yeah, you heard me right! Cooked Rotisserie chickens for FOUR BUCKATOLLAH KHOMEINIS. They've also got FOUR express checkout counters and SO WHAT if its crowded... that means the food is being turned over regularly and, therefore, FRESH. "Boohoo! I have to fill out a card to cash checks...!" "Boohoo! It's so crowded. I'm so important I have to get in and get out or I'll miss my photo shoots and autograph signings..." If you're going there to fill up a shopping card, then it's not going to take you any longer than it would at any other seagull-infested grocery store; but if you just want a rotisserie chicken, its only going to cost you $4, you'll be in and out faster than it takes flies to mate, and you'll feed yourself for the next 3 days. I still love this store, and it's the one I'll go to for the foreseeable future, but I have to mention what happened today. I was in line behind a woman who noticed early on during her check-out process that her milk was leaking. She noticed before it got scanned and informed the cashier, who took it and made it disappear. When the cashier gave the total, the woman said, "What about my milk?" The cashier, looked dumbfounded and said, "Oh, you want it?" Duh. So the cashier said to the woman, "Well, I haven't run your credit card yet, you can go get more if you want it." And the rest of us waited for 5 minutes while the cashier and bagger stood there waiting for the customer to get her own milk, and then rang it in. I felt the need to ask why the bagger couldn't have been sent earlier on in the process to get the new milk, and I was met with another dumbfounded look and told, "I didn't know she still wanted it." No, she didn't...she just kept the leaky milk in her carraige and brought it throughout the store 'cause she thought it looked purty. read more

Love love love this place! Mama raised me good by taking me here all my life, cause it's really the best place to shop. These prices are the cheapest you'll find. Is everything here fresh?? Ya, cause they're constantly restocking cause they're getting emptied out every hour. It can be a hectic process getting through the place and getting to all your needs, but that's just what you gotta do for a deal. This place does it right. No bullcrap phoney savings card like Shaws and stop & shop, just great deals all around and they'll make their profit by having non-stop consumers emptying their shelves. Parking really can be tough even though they have a humongous lot. If worst comes to worst, I've parked in the CVS lot before, but usually there's something closer. If you're some pretentious snob who wants to act like you're too good for this place, please stick to your shaws or whole foods or whatever. But if you're a reasonable human being with a brain, go the Market Basket. read more

I'm relatively new to the area. I believe this Market Basket recently underwent a face lift. It's a wonderful store with TONS of selection and great prices. Seriously. Great prices. The only reason the store is a four-star store and not a five-star store is because it is often way too crowded. I have waited in the deli line for over an hour!
