Not a large variety of meats nor produce, so you are somewhat limited to just select few options. I see customers decline taking a print out of their purchase receipts here. I use this store out of convenience rather than heading to Market Basket. May I suggest anyone shopping there, take and check your printed out receipt before leaving the building. In my last six visits to this store I've been overcharged or mis-charged four times. I've been charged twice for a 12 pack beverage. I've been charged $14.99 for spinach when I had not bought any spinach. I found an anonymous charge of $20.99 on my bill and demanded that the order be rescanned. And most recently, was charged 4 times for an item that I bought two of. I caught two of these in the store. One I made a trip back an hour later, and one, the most recent, I just ignored. So. Check your receipt! read more

Just moved to Boxford from California and didn't expect the full features of a 'market'. They had excellent fruits and vegetables even in the dead of the winter season. The deli was as big or bigger than most of the so-called 'supermarket', as was the prepared food sections of quiches and pot pies. I found everything I needed and will be back to browse for extras! This is way more convenient than the drive into Andover and there's no good reason to with Crosby's here. read more

Once again this place is so disappointing needed some flowers and a few other items from the fruit and vegetable section Most of the flowers were wilted and many of the vegetables had fruit flies flying around them. I told an employee about it and she said that's all we have. The products should not even have been out for sale. Horrible horrible horrible zero stars if I could read more

Found this great market on the way to one of our favorite seafood restaurants. As were going in to check it out, we noticed the sign in the window that sign Homemade Chicken Pies. Well, knowing that's right up our alley, we went in to check it out. I have to say, this is a great little market! When you first walk in, there are loads of veggies all lined up nice and neat. There is a good variety (usually at least 6) soups, of which we have had many so far (Wedding, Fagioli, Minestrone, Fish Chowder), and all have been excellent. A few trips ago, we tried the Apple Streusel Muffins that were out of this world, with chunks of apple and crunchy cinnamon topping. Tastes like coffee cake. We came upon...the Chicken Pies! I noticed they had two different kinds, so we had to try both. The filling in both were equally as good. The crust was different on the two. The rectangular one labeled "Henry's Chicken Pie" was my favorite. It had a fairly thick pastry crust on the top that stayed crispy even after baking. The other was a round and had a puff pastry crust on top and bottom, and seemed to get a little soggy after baking. They were both delicious, but I preferred the one with crispy crust. The home made chicken salad is also delicious. Now the pastry. Usually I shy away from pastry and cakes from grocery stores as everything kind of tastes the same. We decided to take a chance and try Sammys Special Chocolate Cream Roll which is essentially swiss roll cake. That cake was the lightest cake I've ever tried! Nothing like I was expecting! The cream in the middle was not greasy at all! Light and whipped creamy middle and super light cake! There is also a lemon, raspberry and strawberry version. The strawberry is delicious. We have also tried the Chocolate Cream Pie and that was also delicious. The hubby tried "their own" home made Italian sausage, which was delicious. Not overly salty as many are, seasoned perfectly, and not too fatty. The Macaroni Salad is pretty good as well. The Henry's Individual Pizzas come 4 in a package and are deep dish style. They are fresh not frozen and are excellent for kids popping into the oven for a snack. I'm sure there's something I'm forgetting, but this market is a diamond in the rough. I often am at clients for business in pretty far-flung places, which makes it very difficult to find a healthy alternative when I'm unable to bring my lunch (or am too lazy to make it) . I ventured out at lunch today in unknown territory looking for an alternative to the greasy pizza place and stumbled across this grocery store. I must say it was a refreshing alternative to the mammoth Stop and Shop and overpriced Whole Foods near my home. The salad bar had a great variety and I was even able to find my favorite Stonewall Kitchen salsa in the store (Mango Lime Salsa...it's to die for) Most of it looked like your typical small grocery store, but it gets 5 stars in my book for some of the best service I've ever had. Smiles? Who sees those anymore? The coup de gras was when the women who bagged my groceries *put the bags in my arm for me.* That's right. Live just down the street. Usually stop in for their prepared foods. However a month or so ago I had a very uncomfortable experience. When I was checking out the lady at the registered did not and would not respond to me. She simply stared back at me. Even when I repeated, is there a problem twice she continued to stare blankly at me. I've never experienced anything like it in my life. I emailed the corp office to share my experience and received no reply. I waited to leave a review expecting to receive at least an acknowledgment by management but I still have not. I love Crosby's when I enter the store - fresh produce, prepared food and desserts greet you. Great beer and wine selection. Don't shop hungry. Prices for ordinary items are a good 30% higher than supermarkets. Clean and well stocked. People are pleasant and well mannered. Watch your register tapes for mistakes. read more

This is one of my favorite Crosby's locations. Plenty of parking and a really clean and well organized store. You can tell the employees care about the displays and making sure everything looks nice. They always have a fabulous and unique soup selection. I tried a great spicy chicken one that I had to find the recipe for and then just last night had beef stew. Always tastes great. The alcohol section, especially the craft beers, is huge. Lots of variety. My only complaint and this might sound silly is that the tomatoes aren't really in great shape. I've purchased before and it was hard to find ones that weren't bruised. I couldn't find a good ugly one this trip as they were all very soft or bruised. Bummer as those are the best tomatoes. Hopefully, they improve as the summer goes on and they get more crop to select from. read more

Delicious bakery items (I love the 1/2 red raspberry pie). Nice selection of meats. And I often get some of their prepared dinners. Unlike most prepared foods, they do not skimp with the protein! Their pot roast dinner is delicious! The only complaint I have is I wish they did more with the mashed potatoes they include with many of the prepared dinners. Basically, they are plain boiled potatoes that have been partially mashed. No milk/cream, no seasoning, very lumpy because of the partial mashing. Such a little thing, but needs improving. read more

I used to be a big fan of Crosby's until my last two or three visits. Prices were outrageous and seemed to have gone up. The deli staff is unprofessional and there was a young man eating deli meats behind the counter. I am close to 50 years old and was asked for my ID when buying a bottle of wine. It's the worst! Crosby's has a captive audience in Georgetown and they seem to take advantage. Their prepared foods are absolutely terrible. Thank god they started selling Henry's prepared foods. What makes it unbearable is the employees. The "kids" in there are so unfriendly. I don't go in during the day so I am getting all younger people in there. They go out of their way to be unhelpful. If I look like I may ask a question, they turn and almost run. Then check out is painful. They look miserable and then never say thank you, ever! Five years and not one thank you ever. I purposely don't say it first (like I always do out of habit) and they just stare at me. I try to take the extra 5 min drive to Market Basket where everyone is trained to be friendly and helpful. If I could give zero stars I would. I walk in to buy to chapsticks and I get called to the smaller line where then the person walks away. I wait a little bit so then I walk over to another line where there is a girl on her cell phone. I ask if she is open and she says yes. Oh why thank you for being so great with the service. Did I interrupt your cell phone time while at work? So I complain to the manager Margaret where she made one excuse after another one well the kids has to ring in alcohol. Ok so what's the girls excuse. Thank you for having great management skills. Way to show your team how to defend themselves when a customer complains. What happened to Im sorry. I'll look into it. Crosby's is a quaint grocery store. Yes, that double-edged sword, "quaint." It means you're going to get some really great locally grown and organic produce sold to you by people who seem to really enjoy working at the market as well as some more obscure products and specialty items but you won't likely find the variety and selection of brands you'd find at larger grocery stores and you're paying a premium for the store's lack of purchasing power. Still, it's a local grocery store within walking distance from the apartment I'm in so I suppose if I do a comp of time cost of money and factor in gas prices to drive someplace instead of walk, I'm sure that $5.00 box of cereal may not be quite as expensive and I should probably just get over the fact that'd it'd cost $3.00 or less at Stop and Shop, Market Basket or Target. So there's five star service, two star prices and three star variety, why a four star review? Because Crosby's prepared foods are full of happiness and joy. See, this apartment has really old appliances and cooking in the kitchen is not a joy. And while it isn't a convection oven, it is a convection apartment so when it's quite warm out, cooking makes it white-star hot in here. How do you eat fresh tasting, not horrible for you takeout food? Crosby's! (and a microwave that cooks food slower than the oven, but I digress.) We've tried their meatloaf, the lasagna, the manticotti, all very good as long as whomever makes it doesn't get joy-happy with the basil, which they sometimes do. Stuffed pork tenderloin. Seared tuna. Again, all good, all fresh. I think my favorite Crosby meal has to be the chicken pot pie. It's almost better than my gramma's. I say "almost" because if I didn't, she'd haunt my dreams and make me eat mashed rutabagas. Seriously. The chicken pot pie: fresh, pulled chicken with perfect beads of peas, slabs of crisp yet tender carrots, and a light but savory sauce all wrapped in a flaky pastry shell. It's even good when heated for leftovers. The salad bar serves the same fresh veggies they sell in the store and their home made soups are also superb. The beer and wine selection are nothing to sneeze at, either. That's right! I said beer and wine at the supermarket (sales after noon on Sunday.) It may take you a while to get through the checkout line but you'll find your groceries are expertly packed and yes, they really do place the bags on your arms or offer to help you to the car. read more

Crosby's is the kind of neighborhood place us old people used to shop at before supermarkets gave big selections and lower prices. In a way, it is Butcher Boy without the fabulous meat but with more grocery items. It must be a small chain because there is a Crosby's in Marblehead and Manchester (bythesea). We shop at Crosby's frequently when we are driving north on route 97 after we get off I-95 coming from Boston or the North Shore. Usually its because I say I need to get something to fix husbands spur of the moment craving for dinner. Actually I enjoy the feel of the place, the friendliness of the staff and the fresh produce. I reminds me of the local markets in the town where I grew up. Market Basket is a lot cheaper, but you can't buy a memory. read more

I LOVE all of the Crosby's Marketplace locations but I would have to say that this is my favorite of all. I enjoy having a conversation with the worker that is usually in the produce area. I believe that her name is Allison. She is so nice, sweet and kind to everyone. She is very enthusiastic about her job. You can tell that she loves it. I also enjoy speaking to Terri, who works in the kitchen. She is super kind to my kids and I. She is always complimenting me about my clothes and makeup. She always makes my day. I also really enjoy Matt in the deli. He is the kindest gentlemen I know. Thank you Crosby's for making the sun seem brighter every day. read more

I live very close to Crosby's and I don't seem to go there often. I only go for some clam chowder once and awhile! They have very good soups there that you can dish out yourself. But they're way over priced..they do have good quality foods but the amount you pay for it is just ridiculous read more
