I was here for lunch on Saturday. This place is maybe a 5 minute drive from the fishing pier so you walk in ready for very fresh seafood. But I don't think it is. I got fish and chips for my meal. It wasn't good. The fish was super fried so all I really tasted was fried-something. For the chips, it comes out with potato circles. I totally missed reading that in the menu, because I would've switched it out for regular french fries. The potatoes weren't soft or tasty. At the table, we also got the seafood platter with shrimp (which was described as hard) and the crab cake sandwich. Neither plates were amazing. I had a bite of the crab cake and it was so forgettable. Service here is kind but it takes forever for food to come out. Our waitress apologized at least 3 times for the wait. I won't go back for a meal. It looks like a fun place for happy hour though because of all the tvs and the outdoor patio. For happy hour appetizers, I would recommend the calamari and hush puppies. Went down to Marker 20 for dinner with the wife and I was very happy to find parking right out front. The street this place is on is packed with good restaurants, so I was in a pretty great mood to be right in front of the door on a Friday night. Sad to say that my parking space was the highlight of my evening. The place was not busy inside, and the patio was pretty open as well. We got a table and waited quite some time just to order drinks and an appetizer. A shocking amount of time given just how busy the place did not seem to be. Plenty of staff too, who all seemed content to carry on conversations with one another or a couple of regulars at the bar, not really worrying too much about us at our table. Nothing gets on my nerves more than restaurant staff treating me like an inconvenience, and this place had that feel... We each got a beer and an order of the Dirty Rice Balls. The beer was cold, and the rice balls were OK, but the "cool cajun sauce" was like a hybrid of ranch dressing and water. TERRIBLE. Downright TERRIBLE. At least I only ruined one of the rice balls with the sauce. Wife had the Crab Philly Wrap and I had the Chicken Caesar Wrap. Her wrap was not her favorite thing ever. I believe she had all of three bites and just gave up on it. I gave it a try and all you could taste was the woody mushroom flavor. Nothing else. Not appealing. The Chicken Caesar Wrap wasn't bad, but it sure wasn't good either. The talk about it as their chicken caesar salad "re-invented." They're serious... There is far more lettuce than chicken anywhere near the wrap. Oddly enough, it had almost no dressing, so each bite was a hearty mouthful of romaine... It felt like they forgot the dressing or something. Paid, left, not really in a rush to go back. The beers were affordable, so I guess that's something of a plus, but that was it. read more

Would think that because we are so close to water that everything would be fresh but not the case. This place is located in downtown Hampton on the block with the other bars and restaurants. It would be nice if this area were even larger, but it beats the chains on Mercury for food and suds. The place has a deck that faces the street. The place seems like it's pretty jumping in the summer. The plastic cup they served the beer in was a good indication. It looks like they might even have a bar out on the patio. I had the cheese dip and the blackened tuna salad and was pleasantly surprised. I would return here. Gave 4 stars because I did not dine in. I ordered the Thai shrimp and chicken tenders and both were amazing. I noticed how they put the sauce for the shrimp to the side which was perfect to reheat. My shrimp was crispy and the sauce would have made them soggy. I re heated in the oven with the sauce over and was amazingly good. The chicken tenders were also good !!! I like how my food came with foil instead of wax water. Foil is better for fried food. The inside looked cute but was not there long. Food was ready when I got there. I will be returning. read more

Great sailing bar near Hampton Yacht Club. This place is a ton of fun and on par with Davis' in Annapolis and IYAC in Newport. Great selection of local beer and the staff is very friendly. I was at Marker 20 for a party in the back room before an event In Hampton. The crab balls were delicious and our server, Michelle, was quick and very nice. Couldn't ask for much more from a local bar. I love Hampton and am looking forward to going back soon. read more

My wife and I went to Marker 20 during Restaurant Week in downtown Hampton. They have great specials with all the local flavor and Marker 20 had been catching my eye for a while, lots of folks swear by it and it's right next to one of the places I frequent almost every week. I had fish and chips along with some of the Clam Chowder, the chowder was amazing but the fish and chips were just alright. The fish was too fishy and the batter was not crisp like I expected. The desert I got was the in house special a sort of caramel creme and brownie slice. It was damn fine. The beer selection was small but lots of local brews from our close neighbors at St George Brewery. Regular guiness and Bud with a selection of bottles. I was dissapointed with the size of the tap list, but I am a bit spoiled. All in all it was a fair enough visit. The food was good, the beer was cold but the selection was small. Interior was a bit on the boring side, nothing to say really except it could use a good scrub. If you are a beer lover, go two shops over to the Taphouse. read more

I'm not sure how it's possible that I haven't reviewed Marker before now! The drinks are strong, the nachos are the best I've ever had in my life (literally), and there are a few big screens for football watching. My husband has had the fish n chips and loves them, its a huge piece of fish and great chips. We've also had the burger, its a damn good burger, but i'd still recommend the nachos. The service can be spotty, especially if you're sitting outside. That said, if it's nice, you can't beat their deck for drinks and people watching. The tables outside are dirty and unstable, but it's not fine dining, so whatever. read more

Terrible, rude and unapologetic! We went to this restaurant Sunday for early lunch. There were three of us. My husband, my daughter and me. My daughter asked for honey mustard and received ranch, I asked for unsweetened tea and received sweetened (twice). My husband and daughter finished their meals... meanwhile mine had still not arrived. Eventually, we cancelled my meal and left. This morning we find they billed us twice. I stopped by before hitting the base to get some seafood and here are my findings: The draft beer selection was decent, with a little bit of everything. The caesar salad had way too much dressing. every single leaf was swimming in sauce. I added chicken to it making the salad's price $9, a little over the top. The shrimp platter was really good. I was served six broiled jumbo shrimp and they were well seasoned and juicy. The fries had great flavor and the coleslaw was awesome. The coleslaw was not heavy and went very well with the fries. I wished they would have had oysters prepared differently, other than fried. read more

Marker 20 is a part of the downtown Hampton restaurant/bar scene. The layout is divided into two sides, if you will: one side is narrow and indoors; the other, a large outside patio area. There are often bands playing here which is pretty cool during the summer. Smoking is permitted out here, of course, so this has become a haven for smokers, clearing out the inside portion of both smoke and patrons. I've always come to Marker 20 later at night while there is live entertainment. This varies from being small three-piece bands to Open Mic Night. The Open Mics are fun and feature regular performers who many of the crowd knows. The bands are also similarly received, so it's frequently a cool, semi-sing-along experience that borders on being too loud quite a bit. It fits the overall ambiance of the place though, a mishmash of this and that in Hampton--young drinkers, older lawyers, crabbers, shipyard workers, local musicians... and it's always entertaining. read more

Great pub feel to it. Service wasn't as fast as expected but definitely worth the wait. The fries were nicely seasoned. I had the Cajun burger topped with crab meat (brunch menu). I was impressed with the flavor and quality of both meats. Wasn't crazy about the plastic cups they served non alcoholic beverages in but like I said, the food made me look pass it. We didn't choose to sit outside; however, it seems like a perfect place to grab drinks and food with friends on a summer evening. This was my first time visiting. Went during the day, so it wasn't packed. We were able to sit ourselves wherever we liked. The restaurant had a bar as well as booths for seating. I decided to get the Crab Philly Wrap with Sweet Potato Fries and my hubby got the Andouille Sausage & Chicken Pasta. The Philly was different, but very good. The Sweet Potato fries were the best that I've ever had. Not hard, not burnt, just right! Only thing is the sauce that they had with it, I would just prefer it to be sweeter ‍; was still good though. TL;DR: Music was great, Sid was not. Initial impression was rocky, but the management made it worse. My experience was great for the musical performance aspect and atmosphere. However, the bartender or "manager," as she later proclaimed herself to be, was absolutely unpleasant and unfriendly. Sid dismissed our questions about the evening's events (at the location) and later threatened to kick us out for using a vacant restroom. The ladies room had a line of five women and the men's room had no occupants or anyone in line (we were second and the girl in front stated she would not use it because the men's bathroom door did not lock). Sid advised me, after watching my sister walk into the bathroom, "Well, if one of my men come around, he can go right in there." I was waiting outside for her finish and asked the man who had just appeared "Do you mind waiting until she's finished?" He had no problem with this. Sid then proceeded to tell me that we were kicked out and, after arguing with the other (significantly more polite) bartender, sent her to explain she could no longer serve us. Mind you, this was already after we had been patiently waiting for some time at the bar for our tab. I've worked in bars a restaurants with staff like Sid. I hope the actual management can learn to realize what type of people they should staff for busy nights. I tried this restaurant based on the Yelp reviews. Again, I was disappointed in the results. There is nothing special about this place. It is a bar that also serves food. I had the seafood platter which was small and the scallops were bland. There was way too many french fries and they were all soggy. The coleslaw serving was small. There were friendly people at the bar and if I was out to drink, I would say this place could be fun. But for a dinner destination, it was not worth the effort read more

Love coming here for Saturday and Sunday Brunch. I went to Hampton and usually only come during Homecoming and it's great every time. I get the Nawlins wrap; they do not skimp on the meat. It's savory and has nice heat to eat; it's spicy but not so much you need a glass a milk to wash it down with. There's a bar in side with booths; didn't like the booth because the venue itself is pretty small and I like ot take advantage of outdoor seating when possible so I always sit outside. One main reason my friends love this place is the $3 drink specials; they're not water-downed and they're $3 so budget friendly especially to the college crowd. I will say because it was Homecoming it was busier than usual. Hampton's Homecoming it usually the 2nd or 3rd week of October so keep that in mind. Other than that I love this place it's a tradition to eat our Sunday brunch here before everyone goes home bittersweet but tasty food. read more

We go out to eat about twice a week and me and the hubs went on Thursday evening, so sorry to say, really horrible service, the waitress on the patio greeted us after 10 min, we ordered a magners and a dirty martini, my husband said it was cheap liquor , and not made right. My drink was slammed down on the table and she said, " Sorry, I would pour that in a glass for you but my hands are full. We never received our waters and she left so fast we couldn't order. Ive had a few different experiences but I really love this bar. The last time I went the waitress didn't want to service outside because it was sprinkling but saying sprinkling is an exaggeration. So we waited for 15-20 minutes to get a booth inside. Inside they had a very.... honestly horrible live band. It sounded like screaming cats. The bar isn't big enough to have such a big live band with MAYBE 7 booths available to sit. I do love this bar. I have been to it a few tkmes and it's always fun and the food is great. I went here twice during my trip here with a friend who's a local and both times the service was horrible. The first night we had to basically force a server to help us/take our order, the food took FOREVER even though it was a week night and the restaurant was absolutely dead, and to top it all off the server messed up our checks. The second time I went it was with a large group of people (9 people). It took a good 15 minutes before a server came to help us, took another 15 minutes just to get us waters and then forgot about the other drinks we had ordered. We ordered our entrees as soon as the server took our drink orders.. but we didn't get our entree orders until over an hour and a half later. The food wasn't AMAZING but by the time it go to us we were so hungry it tasted like food from a 4 star restaurant. 0/10 would not recommend unless you're not that hungry and you need time to work up an appetite read more
