I was flying to New York City hoping to visit my dream bridal store, Mark Ingram. I called and tried to book an appointment online, and was told I needed to be placed on a waitlist, which I completely understood and agreed to. A week before my trip, I received a call from the boutique saying I might have a chance to be taken off the waitlist. However, the woman on the phone quickly corrected herself, said, "Oh never mind, you're not getting married until 2027," and hung up immediately before I could say anything. I was feeling overwhelmed going into the wedding dress shopping process and she really put me at ease and made it so much more enjoyable than I anticipated. Although I would not recommend going to Mark Ingram Atelier I will admit their new showroom was beautiful, it is really a stunning space. However it is very clear that they have an "ideal bride" in mind that the store is designed for. I have had appointments at several high end bridal establishments most of which ask some questions prior to your arrival. I arrived at Mark Ingram and was informed that they don't have samples above a certain size, no one mentioned anything when I made the appointment nor did they ask me my size. But I am somewhere between a street 8 and 12 and it was very clear that they don't want to sell dresses to curvy women. They also informed me that they charge 20% more for dresses larger than a bridal 8. To be fair in the other 4 or 5 stores I went to there was the occasional sample that was too small to try on, but most of the samples were large enough for me to try on or at least large enough to fit most of the way into so I could visualize what it would look like. At Mark Ingram it seemed to be a challenge to find dresses I could actually put on. I have heard they intentionally bring in small samples, which is lovely for their size 0-6 brides but isn't so nice to the rest of us. I worked with a girl Mindy who was lovely and totally empathetic trying to make it as nice of an experience as possible. But please beware of going here if you are above a size 6 or 8. Also I have heard from several people that the dresses they purchased here were problematic, issues with alterations and ordering errors etc. read more

This is really a review of the alterations with Alzira Hermes, who Mark Ingram Atelier sent me to after I bought my dress with them. The experience at Mark Ingram was fine, although they absolutely need more plus-size samples to try on. It's impossible to imagine what a dress would look like at size 14 when you only have a size 4 sample. The alterations were really the ultimate problem. Hermes added cups after my last appointment and did not give me a chance to try it on before I took the dress. The cups made the top of the dress really messed up and wavy and gaping. It really bothers me in all of the pictures and video of my wedding. I really can't believe the amount of money I spent on the dress and alterations only to look cheap and wonky. It ended up feeling like a very stupid purchase. read more

IF YOU FIND THIS REVIEW PLEASE BEWARE OF ALZIRA. She doesnt have a website and for good reason, she would likely only have terrible reviews. I took my dress back from her after the first fitting. She had zero empathy or professionalism. She had me put on the dress, told me it was too big for me and then proceeded to put a few pins in and dismiss my questions about the hem line and bustle. The first fitting lasted only 12 minutes. I called other ateliers and they warned me about how short the first fitting was, this is atypical considering how extensive my alterations would be. When i spoke to her to express concern, she proceeded to yell and became very hostile. I called my MOH to express concern and she found another friend who used her for alterations and warned me that it is truly Alzira's way or the highway. Needless to say Alzira dismissed the other bride's requests, and went ahead with her own alterations plan. This bride had to find another alterations specialist to try to fix the issues Alzira created. Truly a shame, both in her skill level and her professionalism. I would warn any bride to consider ANYONE ELSE. This is supposed to be a fun experience and she only creates stress and dismisses clients. PLEASE AVOID AT ALL COSTS. read more

Not a great experience. Jillian helped me find my dress, which I loved. The service from her was friendly and professional. Deb, the in-house seamstress, was another story. I brought my mother to one fitting, which should have been a special experience. We rushed to make it on time because punctuality and respecting people's time is important. When we got there right on time, we were kept waiting for 30 minutes with no explanation. Eventually, the bride and parents that were there before us left with a very friendly goodbye from Deb. She then took us to the back without a word or a kind glance. No sorry and just a very gruff attitude. It seemed clear the other clients were valued more highly than us. I got over it - and my mom and I pushed through to have a fun experience. Here's the worst part - my wedding dress tore within an hour of wearing it on my wedding day. You can see me looking down at the strap in photos from the family portraits - BEFORE guests even arrived! The tulle strap fully broke off before the reception even began. Thankfully I had also brought my engagement dress, so guests thought I had an intentional costume change. I didn't report this back to the salon because what does it matter once you're already married? But a warning to brides to be - there are better places. Don't spend $6000 on a one hour dress. read more

I am very surprised reading negative reviews because my experience at Mark Ingram Atelier could not have gone more perfectly from start to finish. Brides reading this: I would not discredit finding the gown of your dreams here based on other reviews! It sounds like some of these brides and their families did not properly plan ahead...and lack social graces lol. I am from Maryland and scheduled my appointment in October of 2023; 8 months before my June 2024 wedding. 8-12 months is very standard. Perfection should not be rushed! At the appointment, I met my stylist Deanna, who talked through what I was envisioning for my gown (I had no idea at the time), any concerns I had, and particular styles I did/did not like. She knew exactly what to suggest for my body type and kept me comfortable the entire time. I adored all of her suggestions. They have such a beautiful variety of spectacular gowns that would make any bride feel like they've hopped out of a fairytale! Each was so unique and special and unlike any dress I'd seen in magazines/real life. I also had the pleasure of meeting Mark Ingram himself during my appointment and he was so sweet and down to earth. He even helped find a veil that looked exquisite with my dress. From the stylists to the receptionists, this entire team is professional, courteous, and personable. I am now back in the city for the week wrapping up my 3 final fittings + dress pickup with Alzira. She could not be more kind or knowledgeable and I really vibed with her. She knew exactly which parts of my dress needed to be adjusted in the slightest spots to make sure I am snattttched come June! Since I am from out of town, I paid for rush fittings. While it was inconvenient to plan & pay for a last-minute trip while in the midst of work and wedding planning, this is what you should expect if you are buying out-of-state. Christopher understood exactly what I was looking for and he & Constance did an incredible job helping me with adjustments when I ordered (bringing up the back of the dress by an inch, letting the hips out etc). HIGHLY recommend to any bride as a first stop or for anyone experiencing the type of existential dread that comes with buying the wrong dress somewhere else. I came here for my bridal appointment with my bridesmaids and fell in love with so many bridal gowns. Tiffany was the one who helped me. She's a very cool person to work with and isn't pushy at all. I was also lucky enough to see Mark Ingram himself. Their bridal boutique is small but they have a very great selection. Every single piece I tried on I fell in love with. It's like Tiffany gets me and my style. I walked out of the boutique that day without saying yes to one because I was in love with multiple gowns including a bridal gown by Mark Ingram that looks very similar to Giambattista Valli and couldn't make a decision. My experience with Mark Ingram Atelier during my wedding preparations was distressing. From dress shopping and fitting to alterations, it caused significant stress and letdown. I had bought three dresses for the ceremony, reception, and after-party, all of which had errors two months before the wedding - issues I wouldn't have encountered elsewhere. I'm sharing this to urge you to think twice before making the same mistake I made by choosing them. Part 1:My initial appointment with MIA proceeded smoothly, showcasing various selections from various wedding dress designers. Impressed, I promptly scheduled a follow-up appointment with my stylist Jill through email, confirmed via phone call two days prior. To my astonishment, upon arrival, I was left waiting because my stylist was occupied with another client, despite the confirmation call. This stylist was the same person who had arranged the appointment after my email request. Unfortunately, she neither greeted me nor apologized for the inconvenience caused by the mix-up. The sales manager eventually stepped in to assist me with dress shopping. During the appointment, I discussed retaining the dress's sample color - a nuanced shade instead of pure white. The stylist remarked, "We trust the designer's intended design. The dress incorporates a nude color tone for a specific reason." Feeling content, I signed the contract. I attended the fitting 2 months before the wedding day, the dress was entirely white - a much paler shade than the one I had initially tried on. Their response focused on the contract. They highlighted that it stated "Ivory White" for the lining and the color. The meaning of "ivory white" had not been clarified when I signed the contract. Regrettably, they exploited this ambiguity to sidestep what they had convinced me to purchase. I paid an additional 25% to return the dress to the designer to change the lining. Part 2: I thought things couldn't get worse, another debacle unfolded with my reception dress. The fit was disproportionate, and the design diverged from what I had tried on. The sample dress was four sizes larger than my actual size. However, the dress tailored to my size, had excessive fabric and differed substantially. The original V-shaped front with a waist cutout was replaced by a design completely covering my waist, and the straps were much broader. Upon notifying them with photo evidence from the sample fitting and the actual alteration, they asserted that the dress looked different due to proportional tailoring. They evaded my calls for two days. Eventually, they organized a conference involving their sales manager, alteration director, and stylist, acknowledging that the dress was wrongly crafted by the designer and committing to making it suitable. By then, I was drained from the struggle of constant calls and disheartened by the dual errors I had experienced within a week. Frustrated, I requested a refund. Initially met with resistance, they eventually agreed to a refund due to their mistakes. Part 3: I had alterations with in-house seamstress Deb. Her first attempt to modify the sleeves lacked finesse, resulting in visibly bulky fabric accumulations and an inelegant transition - she said little could be done since the fabric had already been cut. I inquired why she hadn't discussed the final result beforehand, to which she claimed that her methods were conventional and unquestioned by other brides. My insistence led to a somewhat improved transition despite her reluctance to communicate issues. About my after-party dress, originally designed with a cross-back strap, the alteration yielded a double straight back, with a tight strap that resembled a tote bag handle rather than a dress strap. Showing her a photo of the incorrect alteration, Deborah claimed there wasn't sufficient fabric to remedy and it looked just fine. I had to propose getting additional fabric from the designer to resolve this. We were at Mark Ingram Atelier on Saturday, May 25, 2024 visiting from Miami to shop for a wedding dress for our daughter Mariana. Deanna Avrumson was our stylist. We cannot say enough about Deanna. We had been to a number of other places both in Miiami and New York, and Mariana already had a good idea about what she liked and what she didn't like in a dress. She briefly explained it all to Deanna. and within a few minutes, Deanna had selected perfect dresses for our daughter...All different, but all captured the essence of what Mariana is looking for. Deanna was in sync with us the entire time, bringing us dresses that aligned perfectly with our daughter's preferences and seemed to be made specifically for her. The dresses were from a variety of designers, but much nicer than what we had seen previously from the same designers at other places, and all were within our budget. The bar had been set high, since we had gone to Monique Lhuillier earlier in the day, but we were disappointed in our experience. My daughter, her mother-in-law to-be and I were having a great day after our first appointment and a lovely lunch. The salon was in a very non-descript small office building and not even clearly signed. We went up on the elevator expecting the doors to open to a welcoming foyer, but instead were met with a rather dingy environment. Everyone was friendly and our appointment started on time. Our consultant was a pro and very knowledgable. She took her cues from my daughter and had a very New York way about her. We liked a couple of dresses, including by one of the designers my daughter was anxious to try and another that our consultant suggested. Although it wasn't what my daughter would normally have selected, it turned out to be her favorite. Kudos to our stylist! Unfortunately they didn't have the other designer my fighter had hoped to try. We won't be getting her dress there, since she ended up finding THE ONE at our first stop- a designer salon. Overall our visit was a disappointment between the dingy environment and the way our stylist rushed through the dresses - not the elegant experience we had hoped for. read more

I have nothing but positive things to say about our trip to Mark Ingram. I traveled to NY for the day with my cousin, mom, and aunt to look at wedding dresses for my cousin, and all of us left exceptionally pleased with Mark Ingram. We started the day at another big bridal store, and were unable to find anything that - WOWED - us. We went into Mark Ingram thinking we'd just be looking at dresses, but probably wouldn't find anything there that day. Upon walking into the store, we could already feel the intimate and personal vibes that were missing from the bigger spot. The waiting room was filled with stunning gowns that we were instantly drawn to. The woman helping us (I can't remember her name!) was amazing! She went on ~vibes~, and was able to find several dresses that perfectly fit my cousin's taste, as well as were flattering on her. As we began to critique each dress, she used this information to find dresses that she knew she we would absolutely love. We were also able to meet Mark himself, who was a delight! He even showed us pictures on the wall of his own family, explaining some of his own background, creating a more personal experience for us. My cousin left with the dress of her dreams, and we were all thrilled with not only the dress, but the entire experience, and we look forward going back to Mark Ingram when the dress comes in . I was very skeptical of such a fancy or what I thought was upscale bridal shop, but I had a pretty perfect experience at Mark Ingram with Tammy Kreiter. Tammy listened carefully to exactly what I wanted and what I had already tried. She also listened to others in my group but focused mostly on me and what made me feel comfortable and excited. I ended up buying a dress that Tammy recommended I try that I never would have picked out for myself. I really love it and am so excited about it. I truly was somewhat dreading wedding dress shopping and the final decision and this was so fun and stress free. My first appointment was midday on a Friday. By Saturday at 5pm, I knew it was the dress I wanted. I called Tammy and asked if I could come to the shop again. She made it happen. I put on the dress one more time, looked at many different veils and then we bought it! I bought a Vera Wang - simple and elegant but with veil and a tie on skirt/train that I can take off for the reception. It truly made everyone happy - my mom who wanted the long train, my girlfriends who loved the trumpet shape and me who wanted them all to be happy but also to be really comfortable all night. By the way, they dress was far less than I had expected and within my budget. Truly a dream. Tammy was so positive, warm and focused on what I truly wanted. I am so sad to have to write this review. I will start by saying I did end up purchasing a dress at Mark Ingram, it's absolutely beautiful, and I loved wearing it on my wedding day. That is the only redeeming part of my experience with Mark Ingram. However, there were many questionable and kind of shady moments. First of all when I called the make the appointment a male receptionist took the call and in the phone call he told me "our dresses start at $10,000 can you do that?" I was so appalled and taken aback by his brazen attitude that my only response was "what?" To which he repeated himself, "our starting price is $10,000" lol as if I responded "what?" because I didn't hear him the first time. Yes, I am fully aware of the price tag of the dresses at Mark Ingram, but there are surely more professional ways of addressing the high price points. The appointment itself was lovely. Tammy was so helpful and she captured exactly what I was looking for and every dress she pulled was on point, but I wasn't in love with any of them. With a few minutes left in the appointment, Tammy pulled one last dress as a last ditch effort to find me a dress I loved and she succeeded. I loved it the second I saw it. Again, this is the only redeeming part. Now, we get into some shady territory. I was graciously given an extension on the trunk show sale because my mom was abroad at the time with a 13 hour time difference, and I needed to show her and talk to her before I purchased anything. I decided this was the dress for me, and I reached out to Tammy to purchase. As she is reviewing the pricing with me I let her know that I want my dress shipped to NJ which is not uncommon and plus I live there. She then proceeds to tell me that her manager has informed all the sales associates that NJ has changed their tax laws and wedding dresses are now taxable. I told her I'm going to have to get back to her on that. So I proceeded to call a bridal shop in NJ and asked if there is a sales tax on wedding dresses and they told me no. Then I proceeded to go through the NJ Sales Tax Guide provided by the state to see for myself. Low and behold, it specifically says that evening wear and wedding gowns are not taxed. So I reached out to Tammy again and informed her what the law actually says and if her manager is able to show me proof of this changed law then I will pay sales tax. Then I don't hear back for over 3 weeks and when I reach out again she tells me the manager was on vacation. Really? Your manager is able to go on vacation for 3 weeks at a time? I think she was just avoiding me. So I'm not sure how many brides they've basically pulled this shady business on, but since there is no tax in NJ on wedding dresses I can only imagine what they do with that extra lump sum of cash. Fast forward many months, and we are in the thick of COVID quarantine. I reached out to Mark Ingram to see where my dress is because it was quickly approaching the promised deadline. No one gets back to me. I call again and the receptionist tells me she can't help me but her manager will get back to me. Her manager emails me asking me to immediately pay the remaining balance of the dress. Now I'm confused because I was calling to find out where my dress is and contractually I did not have to pay the balance until the dress arrived in the store. We go back and forth as I address her rudeness and lack of explanation. She apologizes and tells me my dress is on time, and I can begin scheduling fittings for mid-July. So I email back some dates and then I don't hear back for weeks. I had to call Mark Ingram AGAIN mid-July to see what the hell is going on. When I call back mid-July I find out that my dress in fact was not finished and had never left Israel. There is a new manager, and I have to explain all the back and forth. She apologizes to me and tells me the previous manager left Mark Ingram and she also tells me why the store is breaking their own contract with their clients and requiring payment before the dress arrives. At this point I am just so annoyed that I agree to pay. (I was already stressed having to navigate wedding "planning" more like cancelling during covid) The new manager tries to charge me shipping. I tell her that Tammy did not tell me there would be shipping charges, the receipt I got from her literally listed shipping as $0.00, and after all of my horrible and frustrating experiences with them thus far the least they could do is comp the shipping, and she reluctantly agreed. Bottom line is, I found my dream dress but it came at the cost of many shady and unpleasant exchanges. If I could go back in time, I would've chosen a different bridal store who carries the designer I purchased from. read more

I live in Washington, DC and my best friend, who lives in Denver, got her wedding dress from here a few years ago and had an amazing experience. I was able to see her wedding dress process as the maid of honor and was so excited to finally go to Mark Ingram as a bride. Unfortunately that day will never come. At the beginning of August I made an appointment online for the first week of October. Being from Washington DC, I had to take time out of my work schedule and plan a trip to NYC in order to go to Mark Ingram. A week before my appointment, I received a text message from the store saying my appointment is cancelled! I called the store and the gentleman who answered the phone was very rude and stated "you should have never been able to book that appointment because we're not open that day." The gentleman said he would call me back and try and schedule me in for an appointment but he never did. Glad their true colors were shining before I even showed up. If this is the kind of customer service they offer before you even step foot in the door, I can only imagine what kinds of disasters they will offer during the most important dress shopping experience of ones life. My experience wasn't as awful as some reviewers but it wasn't great and incredibly disappointing for my first shopping experience. On a positive note, I wasn't body shamed, the appointment process went smoothly, and the appointment ran on time. My appointment lasted less than 30 minutes. My consultant and I chatted, she brought a few dresses. I loved one but only as a reception dress and the others weren't so great but I tried them in hopes that they would be better on than on the hanger. Based on my feedback she brought a couple of more dresses, again nothing really special. At that point she looks at my mother and I and says "well, I think we are good, I'll go write down the info for the reception dress if you want to buy it" and she took off. WHAT? THAT'S IT? She didn't even really try, in reality it appeared that she was in a rush to leave (I later realized I was one of the last appointments on a Saturday). My mother was offended and pissed, but I told her to chill out because clearly the consultant didn't get me and I was fine with moving on. At one point, I saw Mark Ingram poke his head in the room but he didn't say anything and quickly disappeared. The service was bad. I wasn't a difficult customer and I was shopping in a very high price point- but it was clear the consultant had other priorities. I ended up buying the reception dress... but from someone else. I had the most amazing experiences at Saks (on a Sunday morning I was the only person and the consultant Jill was amazing!!!!), Reem Acra, and Monique Lhullier. I ended up buy dresses for my wedding events at these other shops, all of which told me they had only heard bad things about Mark Ingram lately. In fact one of my consultants from another shop told me the exact same thing happened when she and her daughter shopped at Mark Ingram and she knows him personally... so I think the service is just poor overall. read more

Although I didn't purchase my gown at Mark Ingram, I want to thank this studio and our salesperson, Mindy, for being so helpful and demystifying the process! I had shopped in Boston and found the process quite unprofessional. "Yes, we can get that gown for you; oh, wait, no, we can't!" Charging for this and that, and generally unhelpful. I told Mindy about other gowns I had tried and loved (at other salons) and she used the information in a very productive way: to establish the direction I was going in, and thanked me for letting her know, even encouraging me to share with salespeople in other boutiques as well. To say the customer service is subpar is an understatement. This not a place where'd you can browse and see everything they have. It is up to the sales person to decide what to show the prospective bride, and my daughter, whose budget was on the high end, was shown only a handful of dresses. She chose one 9 months before her wedding and 10 days later decided she wasn't sure about it. She was told she couldn't change her mind because they had already cut the fabric. However, it was not ready for the first fitting until 6 months later. There were only two fittings, even though it was obvious at the first that there were significant issues. The final fitting was a scheduled less than a week before the wedding and only two days before the dress had to be shipped to our hometown where the wedding took place. The end result tailoring was abysmal, with the final dress having an uneven hem, bumps in the seams, loose bodice and hips and boning sticking into my daughters ribs. If this was not infuriating enough, the seamstress and Tammy, the sales person, tried to convince my daughter that the dress looked good, even though it was very obvious it did not. Bottom line, a tailor in our home town was able to alter it in 24 hours the day before the wedding. The difference in the fit before and after the last minute tailoring made it clear how shoddy Mark Ingraham's tailoring was and how disingenuous both Tammy and the tailor were in their commentary on how g the dress fit. read more

The receptionist was horribly rude and acted like it was a favor to be there. I almost walked out. There was minimal seating, and they do not make you feel welcome at all. They also didn't have the Mira Zwillinger gown I wanted to see, and I was not overly impressed with their overall selection of gowns. I very much preferred Oscar, Carolina, and Amsale where I was comfortable, welcomed, and literally waited on hand and foot (champagne, photos, multiple visits). At the time of my visit, I wasn't sure of my budget, which they were not pleased with ("if you're not going to spend $10,000 I don't know why you're looking at these gowns"). To them it's all about a five-figure sale. This is not a place I would want to get my fittings either because you can hear everything going on. It was very uncomfortable. Needless to say, I purchased my five-figure gown elsewhere. read more

Something happened to Bridal Atelier in the last year or so... and its really saddens me. I still see Mark Ingram walking around, but maybe he stealthy sold the salon or something, because things are certainly awry at this boutique. I purchased my dress here, as did my sister in-law and several of my friends. All of them had an excellent experience and all purchased NYC style gowns that were less adorned than what you find at say Kleinfelds and all under 5K. Personally, I loved my salesperson, she booked two appts with me, scheduled the fittings, fittings were excellent, and the dress wowed. Enter my gf who is getting hitched and by my suggestion made an appt at Bridal Atelier. To say the experience was a 180 would be putting it mildly. Reception was cool, acted like it was a favor to be there, and said if you can find a place to sit, go ahead. Hmm, difficult with the loud gaggles congregated around - not really the "intimate salon setting" they are trying to sell. No offering of water or a beverage, barely even looked at people as they entered from the elevator. OK, maybe its just busy.... Consultation begins and bride-to-be explains the styles she's liked. Immediately salewoman says, "well our dresses are 5K and up, and really more like 6K or 7K." Coupled with a look sussing us out. Now, bride wants to spend a little under 5K, but can afford a lot more, but thinks its ridiculous to spend so much on a dress. I agree. But, bride's open to anything and increasing her budget. Some dresses are shown, some are lovely, some are duds. I mention that we saw some Jenny Packham and Elizabeth Filmore dresses online, she shows us one of them. As if there aren't tons more in their collections?! Instead, she pulls a 7.5K Monique Lhuillier dress, which looked great on top but totally not what bride wanted on the bottom. Consultant tries to make it seem "perfect" by saying we can do this in alterations, but really, considering the price tag, she didn't see to follow our logic that it shouldn't have to be altered to be what the bride wants. I believe at some point, she mentions that we should also be looking at j. crew. Seems like there might be something mid-way between j. crew and not wanting to spend 7.5K. At this point, she has NOTHING else to show us. Okay.... I think there's a difference between being a high-end salon (what it used to be - would have been a 5* review) and a pushy and rather tacky price-driven sales pitchy one (what it is now *1 star with *1 extra for my experience). Only Mark and his crew know what's really going on and what's behind this new strategy. But it seems a little ridiculous to put such a focus on certain price points, because not only are you going to lose a lot of customers, some of the smarter designers might not understand why you draw the line at not selling their under 5K dresses. Unfortunately, there's not a current salon who deals with the same designers without a more corporate feel (Saks) or singular designer (Vera Wang, Carolina Herrera, Amsale), but if one day such a place opens, this new strategy will be remembered as what drove people away from a once great salon. It seems the experience at Mark Ingram can be totally hit or miss based on reviews. Unfortunately for my friends and me, it was a totally negative miss. The experience was like going to a tacky used car dealership desperately trying to be like the BMW dealership down the street except they don't have the same creds, class, or quality. It's almost embarrassing really. We went during a sample sale and had the displeasure of having a consultant / tacky used car saleswoman named Anju or something along those lines. She tried to make a pushy sell on a dress my friend liked, asked sneaky questions to size up my friend, avoided answering any of our questions to get real info and just went off on random tangents (in trying to push the sell) thinking we didn't notice, and then condescendingly denied my friend a second appointment to come back because my friend's budget was not high enough. Since it was a sample sale, dresses by the designer that my friend really liked weren't out on the floor so she wanted to come back another day to try on dresses by her fave designer. The consultant / used car saleswoman was unnecessarily rude and condescending in literally saying "I'm not going to let you make another appointment because all of our dresses start at $5,000 and that's out of your budget." Even as my friend insisted she really loved this designer and would consider changing her budget if she loved the dress, the consultant / used car saleswoman still power tripped and denied her another appointment. It was so awkward and tacky that even this consultant's colleagues all started to avoid eye contact with us and slowly drifted away from the scene of the crime. Don't waste your time (or support a business without class or professionalism), but if you do decide to go, at least avoid this consultant / tacky used car saleswoman we unfortunately had to deal with. read more

Ugh. I went to Mark Ingram to shop for dresses on a friend's recommendation, and was completely dissatified, and also insulted. I mentioned to my assistant that I had shopped earlier in the day at RK Bridal, and she IMMEDIATELY wrote me off. Not only did she inform me that I had "large ribs", she finally stated that she "had nothing else to show me." Are you kidding me? If you can't work withing a very reasonable budget, and a not so particular style, then you just aren't doing your job. Steer clear. read more

If you want the picture-perfect bridal experience, go here! The salon is beautiful and the customer service is amazing. First of all, due to subway problems I was a whopping 30 minutes late for my appointment. Upon my arrival, I apologized profusely--but they put me right at ease and took me right away anyway. I was helped by a lovely woman named Zara (sp.?) who asked me what I was looking for specifically in a dress, but also about what "kind of bride I wanted to be." She truly worked with me to help me narrow down my choices. I was overwhelmed by all of the beautiful dresses--Monique Lhuillier, Angel Sanchez, Herrera, De La Renta, oh my! With each dress she asked me more questions abotu how I felt in the dress, what I liked about it, etc. Zara helped me put the dresses on in my own changing room, then I walked to the next space to present each dress as a "reveal" to my mom, aunt and maid of honor. At one point, I put a dress on and said, "I feel like a star on the red carpet." And she replied, "then the dress isn't special enough--you need to feel more than that." With her help and guidance, I was able to really crystallize my "vision" of what kind of wedding dress I wanted to wear on my big day. She was like the bride whisperer! ;) At the end of the day, I bought my dress at Vera Wang. But if the Bridal Atelier had sold Vera, I would have made a point to buy it there because of the customer service and personal attention. One caveat to budget-conscious brides: Before you go, be aware that the selection at this salon starts at $3000 and goes up from there. Their range of choices in the lower end of that bracket is not huge. read more

i love you mark ingram. i found THE dress for my big day at this wonderful bridal atelier. special thanks to lidia and alene for their spectacular service and introducing me to dresses by lela rose! i was fortunate enough to come during the lela rose trunk show and had the opportunity to try on runway bridal dress samples from her spring 2008 and fall 2009 collection. lela's designs are "classical silhouettes with a whimsical twist" and i feel so comfortable in her dresses! read more

After hearing such wonderful things about this salon, I was extremely disappointed in my experience and totally unimpressed by the service. Not having tried on gowns before, I was hoping to receive a consultant who would be patient and perhaps provide me with some guidance. Instead, I received attitude and snide remarks. After 2 rounds of 3-4 dresses each, the consultant told me that "my time was up" that I "had a hard time verbalizing what I want" and that some dresses "were out of my price range" (mind you my price max was $10k.) I asked if I could have a look at the samples to see if anything catches my eye.. Apparently that is not allowed. Also, this salon most definitely pushes certain designers and doesn't offer the variety that I hoped for. Definitely not a "luxury" experience. The dressing room atmosphere is also quiet cramped with only room for 2 people to sit in the room along with the bride. read more

This place was recommended to me by a recent bride. The worst dress shopping experience so far. I did like a dress there but the attitude that I received from my attendant was SO hostile....! I am not sure why, but it seemed like she was progressively angrier through the appointment until she became insulting. I was so shocked I didn't even react to her attitude until she left without saying bye to the back. I called for the manager immediately and my fiance and a friend who were both flabbergasted tried to calm me down but it was not acceptable what had just happened.
