He's young, but knows his stuff. The exams were very thorough. He identified something with my eyes that he was unable to do anything with himself, but he referred me to an Opthamologist for that. They don't make the glasses on premises so there is a delay between the exam and getting your new glasses. I admit that the wait was a little longer than I'd hoped. It took 10 days for mine to arrive. At the time of this writing it has been over two weeks and my wife's have not arrived yet. Be that as it may, even with the delay I would say that, overall, the experience was very good. I look forward to seeing them again in the future. (Pun intended...)

Once at the store she told me I had no coverage for eye exam for contact lenses. I told her I did but she insisted and did not offer calling my insurance to confirm. I got home and confirmed I do have coverage for eye exam without differentiating if it is for frame or contacts. Also, I have the option for contacts fitting and evaluation. Very disappointed there was no service for me to help figuring this out, ant the person attending just wasn't interested on doing business even when I've been going to this place for the last 5 years. Will definitely change my eye care provider.

The doctor and I discussed my options, what was more important for my needs, and of course, what implants would my insurance cover? I got the standard IOL, surgery was easy. I had no pain or swelling afterwards. The first day was the most uncomfortable because of the patch. The surgical nurse gave my husband the postop instructions and he left them in the car, so I didn't know I was to use my eye drops that day, but everything turned out ok, no problem! 2nd surgery is Thursday. I originally tried to go to 'Chicago Cornea Consultants' because that is where my eye doctor tried to send me. When I went to my consultation I was very grossed out by their facility and found out the only reason my eye doctor sent me there was because he had a deal with them and received money for each person he sent there. I called my insurance company after the consultation (which I should have done at the beginning of this process) and found out I could get a discount through them if I went to LasikPlus. My insurance company (Blue Cross Blue Shield - HMO) made my free consultation appointment with LasikPlus on my behalf which made me feel safe and secure. Right when I walked into the LasikPlus facility in Schaumburg, I felt so welcome and at ease. Getting lasik is a nerve-racking experience and the staff at LasikPlus is next level. Everyone I talked to was kind and open to answering any questions I had (trust me, I had a lot). During my consultation they determined I was a perfect candidate. Not sure if this made a difference, but at the beginning of this process I did not wear my contacts for almost 3 weeks before my consultation and never again after that (I ran out of contacts but this was a suggestion from my eye doctor). After determining I was a good candidate, they told me if I scheduled my surgery ASAP I would get an additional discount due to scheduling early. I said HELL YES, and had my surgery the next week. The day of the surgery was pretty crazy. There was a snow storm (I got it done on January 23rd). Something crazy happened and a man who got lasik earlier that day broke the machine. This meant that no one could get their surgery on that machine for the day. Everyone who was scheduled for surgery that day in Schaumburg were sent to the Oak Brook location since that location luckily had no appointments for the day. I still had the awesome Dr. Horn do the surgery. Even with all the chaos, LasikPlus handled it flawlessly and I was home faster than I expected. They also gave a discount due to everything that happened with the change in location. My actual surgery lasted all of 10 minutes, which was wild. My brother drove me home and I fell asleep immediately. I would suggest getting your prescriptions BEFORE the surgery because we stopped at the pharmacy on the way home and it delayed me getting to sleep as soon as possible. I would recommend LasikPlus to anyone looking to get lasik. I am so happy with this investment and kind of can't shut up about it. I went to my 1-day follow up appointment THE NEXT MORNING with 20/15 vision. Unbelievable, perfect vision. FYI - I would 100% recommend anyone who deals with allergies to get the surgery done in the winter so you don't have to deal with your eyes itching while you are going through the healing process. ****IMPORTANT**** I did not drink enough water or eat enough the day I got lasik. I got dehydrated and after I took my "after surgery nap", I fainted in the bathroom putting my eyedrops in. This had NOTHING to do with LasikPlus and everything with me being on a stupid diet lol. He insisted that I find him an opthalmologist and schedule an appointment. Thanks to Yelp's directory, I was able to find Dr. John Marchon in our area. When I called his office at 10a this morning, Maryann answered the phone. She is extremely pleasant and articulate. I told her about my dad. She apologized for the ophthalmologist being out of the office. Maryann assured me she would speak with him and call me back with his recommendation as soon as possible. Within an hour, I was on the phone with her with instructions from Dr. Marchon. My dad went to the ER at St. Alexius Brothers. The ER Physician was able to diagnose and treat the eye injury. My dad is home without needing to make a follow up appointment with the referring ophthalmologist. Everyone in my family and relatives all stereotypically wear glasses, have had Lasik surgery or use contacts. We're getting up there in age for risk of eye disease. St. Alexius Brothers Hospital is in close proximity to most of us. If any of us ever needs to see an ophthalmologist, Maryann is the person I'm going to say to call first.

My father, a 78-year-old patient, was brought to this ER following a fall at his rehab facility…read more His medical record clearly documented a tape allergy with a specific notation that tape causes skin tears. Despite this being visible in his chart, staff applied standard adhesive tape to his arm. When the bandage was later removed, it tore his skin open, leaving a wound that was still unhealed ten days later and caused him significant pain for several weeks. This was not an emergency situation. He was there for a head CT and was stable. There was no reason his allergy could not have been checked before tape was applied to his fragile, Prednisone-thinned skin. I filed a formal complaint and received a response acknowledging the issue and stating that staff had been educated on allergy documentation. An apology and a staff training do not undo the unnecessary pain this caused my father. Documented allergies exist for a reason. Patients and families should not have to fight to have them respected.
