Love this place. Been here way more time than I've checked in. Service always been proper. Haven't seen the owner my last few visits but when he's in the house, he'll go out and mingle with the folks and ask if all is well. My go to is the shrimp and octopus cocktail. Always consistently perfect. The chips are warm and the salsa is proper. And you get a free little bowl of soup before each meal. Only one time in my visit have I had a hiccup, two of the oysters in my order of a dozen was still partially frozen. Besides that one time, everything has been stellar. read more

The servers were really nice and attentive. Someone who I'm guessing was the manager even came by toward the end of our meal to check on our service. The food was perfect. I ordered aquachilles verdes and my kids had fish sticks and Carne Asada tacos no complaints from either of my picky eaters. They bring out chips and salsa and a sort of vegetable soup as appetizers. Everything was on point. I've ordered takeout from the Canoga Park location through Uber Eats and the food was just as good as this location. The price is about average depending on what you order with seafood being a bit pricier but you def taste the quality and freshness. Will return when in the area. read more

We found this restaurant by accident. Actually meant to go to a similar named restaurant a little north. But nonetheless, we were glad we ended up here which is better due to it being larger and with an extensive menus. It also has better allocated parking. We went for the fried fish. I had tilapia and the hubby had red snapper. Both were excellent!! The house margaritas were perfectly made as well. We will be revisiting real soon!!! read more

I've been coming here for some years now and the food is consistently good. Every time I come here I feel like I'm visiting a family member's restaurant. Everyone including the owner Alfonso are always warm, inviting, and friendly. I crave the ceviche on a regular basis. Every time I come back home(California) to visit, I have to come here and I get: 1 shrimp ceviche, 1 fish ceviche, and a side of beans and rice. Sometimes the shrimp enchiladas if I'm feeling like something saucy. They give you healthy portions of everything. I have to say I really LOVE this place and that's not an exaggeration. I've been know to be a picky eater but seriously they have amazing fresh seafood and micheladas. I would give this place 5/5 if they had more staff during the weekdays. Even on weekdays this place gets busy. One thing I don't like is when there is only 1 waiter doing everything. It's not fair to the employee or us the customers. Still I have to say the waitresses/waiters provide great customer service even when they are busy. :) There is room for improvement as far as management but they definitely have yummy food! read more

Finally! We found a gem for authentic Mexican food in Van Nuys. Not only do you get complimentary chips and salsa when dining in but they also give you a cup of consome. Absolutely horrible food. And I was surprised that I would experience this at an authentic Mexican restaurant. First of all, when we came in we were not really acknowledged. It was packed and there wasn't readily available seating. Mind you, when you walk in, you are RIGHT IN FRONT of the cash register/hostess/waitresses. The entrance is small and bec there is no place to stand, they can't NOT see you. When I ask to be seated, the waitresses all looked confused and started talking to each other in Spanish about where to seat us. We were a party of 3 and the only available table was a big round one (maybe for a table of 6+). Ok, SO WHAT? In this supposedly down-to-earth, non-pretentious joint you're going to keep us standing there bec you don't want to seat us at the big table? What a load of crap. Finally, they sat us down. I was so hungry that I ordered a ceviche plate and fajitas. When the food came it was absolutely horrible. Ceviche tasted like OLD RUBBER. Regarding the fajitas, the only reason I came here was because SALSA AND BEER (5 STARS) was packed. I ordered the fajitas plate thinking it was going to be the same quality. WRONG! Beans and rice were cold, chicken and steak DRY, DRY, DRY!!! The meat had NO SEASONING!!! Who wants dry meat with no seasoning??? Disgusting. I have NO IDEA what happened to the chef that day. The other person I was with got a shrimp cocktail which I was told didn't taste good at all. Wow, how does a supposedly authentic Mexican restaurant mess up these simple staple dishes? I recently realized one smoke hint on searching on Yelp. If the bussines is not claimed by business owner 60 percent chances the service and food will be great and excellent. This place came across my search when I was parked cross the street and I decided to try it. The 4 star is a lie! My friends and I came here for happy hour which they did not have! We should got the clue when it was dead in there but have a try since it's a 4 star . Biggest regret! We had water down Micheladas that are $9 each. They came the aguachiles they weren't even green sauce it look brown. It just tasted like limon. Our bill came to $81 dollars ! Ridiculous! Food is good but really overpriced and two out of the 3 servers are good the third seems bothered to be there. 8.99 for a bean in cheese burrito for my 7 year old is laughable. The owner is a good guy and rent must be high so he has to take care of his business. I would recommend they only serve the free soup if guest ask for it along with the salsa. read more

Last night we went here as we were craving good Mexican food and searching for "Mexican" brought up only fast food taco places so I entered "Mariscos" and lo and behold a bevy of restaurants. Both my husband and his mom, who lived in Guadlajara in the 1970s, said it was not only excellent in every way (service, food, timing) but very authentic. It was full but not crowded. Immediately after they take your drink order everyone is served a seafood soup. Really good. My 20 year old ordered a burrito and 2 carne asada tacos. Most of the burrito is in our refrigerator and even better, he will stop complaining that no one gives him enough food. I had the small camarones de cocktail (shrimp cocktail) which was very good...although it usually is at every Mexican restaurant. They were out of tilapia so asked if red snapper would do, and it was lovely. We also got the beef tostada and more tacos. I don't think the tortillas were homemade, although others in our group thought they were, but in any case they were very good. The salsas were too spicy for me, but the guys ate bowls of the chips. There were 6 or 7 types of hot sauce on the table probably for their regulars. They have a sangria that is nonalcoholic in a bottle that tasted like red cherry soda and was delicious. That is the food. The service was really outstanding and tbe owner came by to make sure we were well taken care of but he needed have bothered because their service staff were very well trained. They could EASILY be working at a Michelin 3 star restaurant. The decor - eh. Typical of Mexican resyaura ts in LA. It was comfortable, but there is a TV with choldrens provrams which you can't hear and a large ice chest sitting against the wall. That is why they are not given 5 stars. WOW. This place was delicious. I'm super picky when it comes to seafood, but this place hit the spot. I ordered ceviche, aguachiles, and lobster. I'm a Coctel fanatic and the Coctel de camarones here was VERY good. I usually add a lot of ketchup but I didn't even need to add much ketchup mine. I also LOVED the fact that it was packed with veggies because I've had shrimp coctels with barely any veggies and it makes me so sad. The service was a tad slow but the waitresses were all very kind. Now that the weather is hot, I've been so obsessed with ceviche. I've had ceviche 4 times this week alone. I saw some great reviews on Mariscos Los Arcos and decided to give them a try. I ordered the tostada mixta and tostada de pescado. The pescado is just white fish. You actually get quite a bit of fish but the flavor wasn't that great. The mixta which has shrimp, octopus, and scallop tasted better. My only complaint is that the mixta has way too much onions, tomatoes, and avocado in the mixture. I would rather they charge more but give me more seafood instead. When I called, the person on the phone only speaks Spanish so I had to place my order in Spanish. Once I get there though, some of the servers speak English. I wasn't impressed with this restaurant. I'll most likely to go Puerto Angel or Sirenitas next time instead for Mexican ceviche in the area. read more
