    Nice and festive inside.

On Sundays, my mother and I have lunch together. She likes Mexican food but her knowledge of places to eat is very limited. Since I like to check out new places I suggested for us to try Lauras Restaurant. It is pretty local to our area and had to see if this could be a new place on my mother's list. We arrived shortly after they opened. There were already a few people inside. Although there was a sign for us to wait to be seated my mom wanted the window seat so she sat down. We were provided a couple of menus and the search for what we wanted was on! My mother has a difficult time with choosing what she wants to order, not to mention her ability to read the menu is getting poor. Looking at photos helps a lot. The menu does have a number of photos per page but none of them were what she was interested in. After figuring out what to order it is now lunch time! I ordered my mom the Crunchy taco + Cheese Enchilada plate while I got the Parrillada. Its a bit simple, but I like to gauge my first tastes on the beans and rice. If that is poppin, my dish is going to be fire! (most times) The beans and rice test passed and onto the meats. Parrillada came with chicken, steak, and shrimp over grilled onions. Pretty much a fajita sampler. Accompanied with some tortillas I went to town. Comparing the meats my fav was the shrimp but all was good. My mother loved her meal and devoured the taco and enchilada. She is supposed to watch her diet but this meal was a free pass as she enjoyed it so much. (I should have included the photo lol) [[HIGHLIGHT]]One thing I didn't mention earlier was the decor. I noticed there were a bunch of balloons all around.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Not sure if there was any festivities that day or it its like that normally but it was nice to see. I do understand there are happy hours and event nights such as karaoke. Might have to check it out some day. Overall I really enjoyed the meal. I'd like to come back with my mother again in the future or bring some friends along. Parking: private lot VERDCIT: Rinse and repeat

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This Mexican food restaurant is small but there is ample seating![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The restaurant was affordable they have great lunch specials for those on a budget. I got 2 tacos, rice, and beans for $10.99 +tax. The portion size is great the everything had a flavor and tasted well. The owner was inviting and I was served quickly. It was ok for a quick bite if you in the area this is a place that is descent that won't burn you pockets!

The food is delicious, and the service is great. If my family and I travel to this area again we definitely will return.

The restaurant has good food. It is located in the large plaza of Vallarta supermarkets. Plenty of parking. Unfortunately, the day I went, the restaurant sign was that it would be closed for Christmas.

Our favorite local spot! Food is always delicious and satisfies the craving when we don't want to cook at home. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We've been enjoying Friday night karaoke.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Definitely worth trying out!

Alright let's start off the the salsa that has no salt and water downed. My man made a comment then I should of listen and ran. I went on to order their seafood mix tostada I got the a fishy stale frozen seafood mix with absolutely no flavor. I poured so much hot sauce and salt to try to eat it but when you can taste the frozen bites I couldn't do it. Found this place from instagram from San Fernando valley eats I think home boy is lying to us. My boyfriend got a taco but I think it was a lettuce taco because there was basically no flavorless boiled meat.

I like it charred a little. I could have eaten a tub of their rice. So light, fluffy and flavorful. I'm not a bean person but even the beans were hitting the spot. So much I would order them again. Usually I try the beans once and that's it. I'm pretty sure the tortillas were homemade. I loved that they were thick enough to hold everything but soft enough to eat. Salsa was a little too spicy for my liking. Everything was seasoned well. Everyone was very nice! But I definitely had to use my high school Spanish. Between my Spanglish and her English it was no problem. It's a very small hole in the wall. Cases of beer were stacked against the wall. There were only about 5-6 two top tables. Not good for a crowd but definitely great food. I think there was one unisex bathroom. I didn't go in. Looking at the pictures online I didn't know there was an outdoor patio. Looks nice in the pictures. I'm not sure about a parking lot. We parked on the street on Parthenia which was a little scary because drivers don't care about people getting out of the car.

In a city where Mexican food is probably the primary dining option; one might think that it is all…read morethe same: that a taco here is the same as a taco there. This line of thinking is completely false as each region and state in Mexico has distinct flavors, cultural preparations and unique ingredients. Luckily in the City of Angels; we have access to all of these styles whereas everyone can pick and choose their favorite! I was in the North Hills/Mission Hills area and decided Mexican was going to be the meal of the day - and thanks to the trusty Yelp app: Tacos al Tijuanense was the winner to satisfy my hunger pang. If you are a longtime LA resident or born-and-raised within the city limits and can swear to Tacos al Tijuanense sounding familiar/remembering that it was a food truck... Then your memory doesn't deceive you. Tacos al Tijuanense birthed as a food truck in 1987 quickly gaining popularity for its smoked meats and Tijuana-inspired flavors serving tacos, vampiros, quesadillas, birria tacos, etc; loaded with fresh toppings and offering a variety of meats for the protein selection. The LA love for Tacos al Tijuanense caused such popularity that the food truck expanded into brick-and-mortar locations with several now spread throughout the city. The North Hills location of Tacos al Tijuanense holds real estate near the Woodly/Nordhoff intersection in a small strip plaza shopping center that seems half sleepy and half eyebrow-raising. But, as most of us know, the hidden gems are usual the best spots so don't be deterred by such businesses like the sketchy massage parlor next door. In fact, diners will be pleasantly surprised when crossing the threshold of the entrance to find an airy interior with high ceilings, natural light, wooden accents and the combination of a trendy- almost gastropub sticking to the food truck theme (there is even a food truck motif behind the order counter) that feels like a party. Tacos al Tijuanense is not what you would expect from the outside! Tacos al Tijuanense is fast-casual meaning you order behind the counter and take a number to the table of your choice. After browsing the menu, my boyfriend chose a Quesadilla (13" tortilla filled with protein of your choice, jack cheese, cilantro and salsa with my boyfriend picking chicken - $13) and a Vampiro (toasted corn tortilla layered with jack cheese, choice of meat, onions, cilantro and salsa with al pastor - $3). For my order, I also went with a Vampiro but with chicken while also ordering Nachos to share with carne asada. When our plates arrived, we were surprised to see the size of the portions. Everything at Tacos al Tijuanense is large and in charge and they most certainly do not skimp! The fillings are overflowing with bright, fresh ingredients, toppings are numerous and the size overall makes everything shareable. My Vampiro was crisp with delicious guacamole that added a refreshing element and tender, tasty chicken. My favorite was my boyfriend's Quesadilla which was gooey, warm and perfect. You can't go wrong with a quesadilla! But we have to talk about the nachos because these nachos are HUGE! This is party size and could generously feed three people. The carne asada was heavenly and the chips tasted homemade. The only slightly "meh" factor was that the cheese atop the nachos was canned cheese and we would have preferred melted shredded cheese. This wouldn't have been such an issue had the canned cheese been in a rational amount but it seemed like a Costco-sized can poured onto these chips! These nachos were hidden under cheese glop! Regardless, they were still delicious. Tacos al Tijuanense holds true to its almost 40-year-old fame with affordable prices, delicious food, large portions giving you a bang for your buck and a surprisingly inviting ambiance. Tacos al Tijuanense is definitely recommended and the North Hills location is much recommended despite its odd plaza placement.

She told me the order was not ready but did not give me any estimated wait time. While I continued waiting, two other Dashers came in after me, received a much warmer welcome, and were helped quickly while I was still standing there with no update. The same employee later called out the wrong customer name to me. When I corrected her and gave her the correct name again, she simply said the order still was not ready. By the time my order was finally handed to me, the delay had made me late with the delivery. Another employee also asked me to confirm the pickup before giving me the order, which is fine if that policy is applied consistently. However, I did not hear her ask either of the two previous Dashers to confirm their orders. The entire interaction made me feel like I was being treated differently from the other drivers. And this lady seriously asks me, "what meat" and I repeat myself and she laughs in my face like I'm the one that sounds dumb for asking what is she taking about. She repeats herself and I say, "birria." Then she proceeds to ask me, "Do you want that with cheese or no cheese?" If I'm asking for quesabirrias, is it not obvious I want it with birria and cheese. But it's also the fact that she makes me out to be the idiot for being confused at her ridiculous questions. They then gave us the same number as the man before us and had to bring it to their attention, so they wouldn't give our food to him (he had a to-go). Thanks to the man that went to go say something. Then, my mom said that they charged us the same amount for both menudos when on the menu it shows up at different prices (we got 1 pata, 1 without). I brought it to their attention and I said, "That's okay, you could go ahead and bring me the pata, since you already charged me for it." She answered, "Well, you have to go pay the difference up front." I repeated myself, she viewed my receipt and said okay. She comes back 5 minutes later and she tells me, "They charged you for the pata, do you want your money back?" I said, "no, you could go ahead and bring it to me with the pata." Then she finally brings it out and tells me, "it's priced at the same amount whether you get pata or not." Whether or not, that was true, why was she trying to charge me the difference. They never brought my mom that said sangria, she never ordered. She went to go get a refund for that and they only gave her $4 with no added tax amount, so they didn't even process her refund as they were supposed to. To make matters worse, the food wasn't even good. I really tried to enjoy it, but the menudo was tough and quesabirrias lacked flavor. The restaurant was small, and we had to sit outside, which was okay, considering it wasn't too hot out. In conclusion, service was awful, rude, there was no coordination, food was not the best, and the it was small but very limited seating. I was so excited to come here, because an influencer said this place was so good. Last time I listen to someone on the internet. My fault, but I was just so disappointed.
