Mariscos La Playa ABQ location is one of the best family friendly spots! I've been a handful of times and they amaze me every time! I like to try new dishes and have yet to try one I haven't liked. Best margaritas, best tacos, and my new favorite best Ceviche a Tun! They even had a photo opp for guests on Mother's Day. They take of their clients here and the service always makes me feel like family. Give it try, you won't regret it! My favorite local authentic Mexican seafood restaurant

HUMONGOUS PORTIONS. You will never see so much seafood on your plate in your life lol. The value in seafood you get for what you pay is pretty extraordinary. The complimentary chips and dips (bean, avocado, and salsa) are lovely. Mixed Ceviche ($10.95 for Chico) - Good but I couldn't stomach the slimy oyster haha Tostada Combo (forgot) - These were too fishy for me to eat but my sister and mom seemed to enjoy! They came with rice and these crispy wedge fries that were delightful. Seafood Soup ($14.95 for Chico) warm, flavorful, amazing, packed either way seafood. Interior is colorful Mexican decorated. Staff are attentive and nice :)

I ordered this food to be delivered via DoorDash and I was blown away by how absolutely delicious the food was and by the size of the portions. I ordered a bunch of food thinking that it would be easy to finish, anticipating small portions. But this is definitely food to share. The oysters were enormous and came with all the fixins. I loved that they were packaged in a to go box with a bunch of ice. They were still nice and cold when they got to me. The chicharron de pescado was SO FLAVORFUL and crunchy and meaty and came with a nice tartar sauce. The ceviche de atún was so tender, flavorful and SO MUCH FISH!! And the camarones aguachile were equally tender, flavorful, and SO MUCH. Highly recommend all these dishes. I can only imagine that the rest of the menu is equally good.

Definitely a hidden gem. We have been to the sushi spot a few doors down but this was worth the find and stop. Staff speaks english and Spanish. Super friendly. Food came out quickly. And was absolutely delicious. I had to stop myself from eating all the chips with the refried beans and pico so I didn't fill myself up too quickly before the main meal. The steak was tender. The vegetables cooked just right. There is a sign out front but none on the door itself. If you're looking for good Mexican food, try them out.

If it wasn't for the sign on the street you'd probably miss it. There's no signage near the entrance. We got seated immediately and menus arrived with chips & rather than the usual salsa it was 3 bowls containing refried beans, pico de gallo & a combo of pico, sour cream & avocado. Different & delicious. Seating was primarily booths carved and painted with seascape scenes. I ordered the lunch special - 3 fish tacos. They were unbattered, lightly fried & loaded with fish. We also got the steak fajitas. Like the fish tacos, there was enough for two. Needless to say we have enough for another meal. Prices were reasonable, service was good and food was aplenty.

Fantastic experience all around. Very colorful atmosphere, polite staff, waitress was thorough in her explanation of food choices and the food was super fresh and tasty. This is real Mexican food at its best! I had the mixed seafood platter and my wife had the asada tostadas. Both amazing! Will definitely try it again soon!

Love this place such beautiful atmosphere. Great salsa and bean dip. Everything has been delicious here shrimp tacos, shrimp Santa Fe (spicy and yummy) tostadas too. They have awesome lunch specials 11-3 m-f. Can't believe what a hidden gem this place is!

I came here with a co-worker for lunch on Friday, December 9, 2022. Upon entering, you see the colorful walls and a Christmas tree in the corner. We sat at a booth close to the bar. Quite a few patrons were sipping beer at the bar and watching Argentina play the Netherlands in the World Cup. It seemed everyone backed the Netherlands. The waitress, Elena, brought us complimentary chips with three dips. Beans, pico de gallo, and a spicey avocado. The chips tasted freshly made and I liked all three dips, but the avocado dip was my favorite. The colorful menu contains a huge array of dishes, all of them seafood related. I opted for the Marinero, which is a tilapia fillet stuffed with shrimp, scallops, octopus and cheese. This came with a ball of white rice, chopped avocado, tomatoes and onions and fries. My fish came out hot, wrapped in foil. The fish and cheese were a delight, and everything tasted super fresh. My buddy ordered the rolled shrimp enchiladas, which came with cheesy refried beans, white rice ball, tomatoes, lettuce and avocado on the side. He said this restaurant by far was the best we'd ever eaten at together. If you are looking for a change from the typical New Mexican restaurants, visit this Mexican seafood place. All together, we paid $38.73 for some of the best food we've eaten. The plates are large too.

Phenomenal food, and great seafood. We had the shrimp a La diabla and the shrimp fajitas it they were absolutely delicious. The shrimp are cooked in a creamy chipotle sauce that is expertly seasoned and cooked to perfection. The potato wedges were butter and crispy. The service was attentive and helpful and the ambiance of the place is welcoming and friendly. Plenty of seating for large groups and family gatherings as well as small 2 person booths and a bar area.

I am a mermaid at heart so of course the seashell theme was on point. I was on a solo date and the patio was a sweet place to sit outside under string lights and enjoy the views of the mountains in the background. I love to try new things so I was delighted they had an oystertini (yep you guessed it, a martini with an oyster in it!) The lions mane mushrooms were to die for. Insane flavor and texture. The salmon was cooked " medium" which I've never really had before, and it was so palatable and luxurious. Nothing worse than overcooked fish ha ha. Dominic was my server and he was especially attentive and sweet and conversational. Great energy. The rest of the staff had a similar vibe. 10 out of 10 would love to come back. One thing to note: the food is very RICH with a lot of oils, kind of like French food, so next time I wouldn't order as many heavy items (my fault not theirs !) and I would pair it with some lighter faire they offer such as one of their salads. Overall, such a treat.

Unfortunately, they didn't ask us if we had a special occasion we were celebrating, but overall the service was great. The ambiance was pretty nice and there is a back patio that has a few tables. They have a large array of oysters from the east coast and west coast. The oysters and the way they served and prepared were good. They do have raw clams also which I thought strange, but I'm probably just not fancy enough. We ordered a few appetizers including green chili hush puppies which seemed to need a little more Smokey green chili flavor and they were a bit dry. The lobster deviled eggs are sort of tart and flavorless and I didn't get any lobster on mine. My friend said the lobster rolls were good, and I had a salmon special that was out of this world delicious and cooked to perfection!! The red curry mussels were also outstanding!! Could use a bit more spice and salt, but really good. One of the kiddos didn't want raw food, but he also couldn't find much on the menu for kids. They were out of what he ordered and when they finally did get his order, his food came out about 15 minutes after the rest of the table. They did comp out appetizers so that was nice, but in my opinion they should have comped his meal since they didn't have what he wanted and then served him so much later. Their alcoholic fancy beverages were great. I had a glass of wine that was good. I would suggest offering more wines and meals from the adjacent wine bar and restaurant to Lure as well. They have a few kinks to work out, but I think they are on the right track. There is no phone so it's very difficult to make a reservation. I recommend visiting this place and trying some of their food during off hours. I'm not sure I'd recommend their appetizers yet, but with a few tweaks they will improve. Cheers!

I ordered Rainbow Trout & Jumbo Crab Blackened trout, shrimp, jumbo lump crab, hazelnut brown butter, with Buttered Heirloom Grits. The pairing worked very well together. There was a slight up charge for the grits, but I am happy. The food was fresh, delicious and well balanced. The garden outside and around Pappadeaux is a relaxing and inviting.
