First time spur of the moment decision. On our way home from the Citadel Outlets. Craving seafood and found this place on Yelp. Had great reviews. Very busy and people waiting to be seated. Sat in the bar area and served immediately. Our server was amazing. Great service and conversation. Very welcoming and informative. Made some great recommendations. They welcome you with tostadas and salsa. I knew it was going to be a great night. Tostadas were so crunchy and salsa was delicious. Ambiance is fun and festive. Music was good. The manager came to our table to thank us for coming and gave us a card for a free appetizer on our next visit. OMG!!! What a great manager! That's the way to get customers to return and feel so special. The best people work here. Food and service AMAZING!!!

This location does not have parking so look for parking on the street or what other customers did such as myself was parking in the parking lot right next to it at the plaza where Del taco is. When we arrived, the host told us it was gonna be a 30 minute wait at around 7:30 PM on Friday night so she gave us the option to sit at the bar so we did. Right off the bat they serve you chips and salsa, but the chips are tostadas and the salsa was pretty spicy. For an appetizer, we got an order of guacamole which came out to $16.99, which is extremely ridiculous for the price didn't know till afterwards since it didn't have a price on the menu. For the entrée we ordered the Molcajete which also didn't come with a price on the menu, which came out to about to $55 which came with a nice big bone marrow, Asada cooked rare even though we asked for medium, pieces of chicken, three pieces of shrimp wrapped in bacon, nopales, block of cheese, green onions, half an avocado. It also included a side of rice and beans in one order of tortillas we wanted another order of tortillas which came out to an additional $2.99 Overall, the food was flavorful, but the prices were some of these things are ridiculous specifically for the guacamole and the up charge for extra tortillas. The ambiance is nice and modern. They have mostly outdoor seating which looked pretty cozy. Our server was great too and the other staff that attended to us were great as well. If you wanna come somewhere with cool vibes this is the place for you but honestly, I've been to better hole in the walls that offer the same items for fair prices. I would come back to try their other seafood options

Nice restaurant, Friendly Staff, Delicious food!!! The place has a cool vibe, with beach resort style furniture. Came for lunch with a coworker, and we both enjoyed our selections. We had the Tostada Rebelde and the Shrimp tacos. The Nemo drink is a little pricey for what you get but still taste good. Our server Alondra was kind and attentive and the manager Sid was friendly as well and checked on us. Will definitely be back to try out more of the options on the menu.

In the mood for light seafood dinner, thankfully, we got here just in time before it got crazy busy. Seafood tostadas and strawberry margarita were perfect and hit the spot! This is one of our favorite seafood restaurants, which we will always come back to, because the customer service and food are consistent and on point, every time we come!

Mariscos Choix was a good experience overall. The food was flavorful, and just about everything we tried hit the spot. We started with the Aguachile, which had a great balance of lemon and spice, very refreshing and well seasoned. I also ordered the Tacos Sinaloenses, which were simple but good. My favorite taco was the Taco de Mar y Tierra, which really stood out in flavor. The restaurant is pretty big with music playing, giving it a lively vibe. The host and waitstaff were very friendly and welcoming. Parking can be a bit tough, if you can't find street parking nearby, you'll need to park across the street in the shopping center near Del Taco. Overall, a solid spot and a fun atmosphere.

A great birthday celebration I had the fried fish I loved it. My friend had the great idea of asking for gloves! That really made my meal so pleasant nothing worse than fingering a fish. I'll be doing that every time we eat fish now my friends loved the octopus tacos. The fajitas were delicious. There was like eight of us and we were able to all share one order of the churros we had a great time. The service was amazing. Five stars #ValleyDowneyCrewGoVentures.

Finally made it out to this place for a late lunch. Wanting a cold and refreshing meal, mostly ceviche and agua chile type food. No wait for an inside table , multiple outdoor tables but it was still really hot despite fans and open air space. Quick service by waitress, she made sure to ask if it was our first time too; manager came to check on our experience at the end of the meal and made sure to invite us back with a coupon for a complementary agua chile next time. Tried a variety of food: Taco de Marlin and taco mar y tierra (grilled beef and shrimps) - both delicious Agua chile negro is a huge serving of raw peeled and split shrimp over slice cucumbers in a dark marinade that seems soy sauce or Worcestershire based. Very delicious and fresh. I got a camaron ceviche tostada: mixed raw shrimp and cooked shrimp plus lots of onions, crunchy cucumbers in a citrus mix. Complementary whole crisp corn tortillas and salsa, They have a huge size for lemonades and other agua frescas. Live music on evenings.

Came here for dinner on a Saturday night and lucked out with live music. We were a group of five and expected a long wait, but were seated in about 30 minutes. There's a bar area where you can grab a drink while you wait, which helps. We started with the chicharrones de pescado, crispy and a 10/10 with the dipping sauce. The shrimp empanadas were okay. I ordered the tacos de pulpo zarandeados and loved them, the avocado really brought everything together. My cousin had the camarones al mojo de ajo with rice and beans and said they had a nice spicy kick. Modern space, fun crowd, and people singing along to the live music, it was definitely a vibe. The seating area by the live music is very tight but the atmosphere made up for it. Overall the service was great.

Came in for a late dinner with my friend Ana. She ordered the fajitas mixtas and I ordered the 7 mares. We shared an order of the queso empanadas. The 7 mares was just OK. I don't know what kind of fish they use but it was probably marlin. Not the 7 mares I am used to. Seemed kind of skimpy. The fajitas were asked for medium well and got them medium rare. Empanadas were ok this time around. Nothing special. It was busy for a Friday night. That was expected. The live music was going at what seemed like a privada out back. The service was ok this time. Tried this place out on a Sunday night after seeing all of the reviews on yelp. The ambience was very loud as they had live Banda music, so I couldn't hear conversation with my friend. Our servers name was Andre, he was very friendly and chatty and checked on us a few times and always made sure our water cup was full. We got a Paloma and a lime margarita, the Paloma came out warm after waiting 20 minutes for it. The lime margarita was fake tasting. So I definitely don't recommend the alcoholic beverages here. We ordered two shrimp and steak tacos, and the all seafood tostada. Food was very good. The bill was $83 for two drinks and two entrées. Definitely plan to spend money if you come here. The food was the reason for the four star review because the alcohol was not good.

Nice place, we sat in the front patio, the music wasn't so loud, we actually could have a conversation and the windows were kinda open to get the breeze in. The food was good, although it came in different times, maybe because we had a big group. my fried fish was great. Andre our server was so nice and came by quite often to make sure we were ok. Would definitely come back here, I had not been here since before the remodel.

My first time here. This place was recommended by my bro who has been wanting to try it out. This place did not disappoint. The food is delicious! The drinks are delicious! Fish tacos were excellent. Was in the area and was craving tacos. Ambience: 5/5 really nice inside - they have like a porch vibe with salsa/cumbia music playing. Band will start playing around 4ishpm, didn't stay for that though since we finished eating way before then. This was on a Saturday afternoon. Parking 3/5 - I don't think they have their own parking at least I didn't see one. There's street parking and a parking lot on the side of the restaurant, took a risk and parked there - no ticket and car was still there when we got out, so I guess doable? Overall, will not be back because prices are way too high for what we ate IMO. Bill was almost $150 including tip for 3 people, this cost is like going to West Hollywood. We had tacos and ceviche, and one had steak fajitas, still...way too much. If you don't mind this and just came for the vibe then I guess you'll be fine.

I am not the person who likes to write bad reviews but If I could leave -0000000000 stars I would! Normally my husband and I enjoy getting the fish and marlin tacos from here on taco Tuesday when they are reasonably priced, but today I decided to get my dad a shrimp cocktail here instead of our normal spot tacos el Tio in Norwalk. I figured since it's a mariscos place it should be good right? WRONG. For $17 I got a small little 16 oz cup of tomato juice with 5 shrimp. Yes 5 shrimp only. And not only that but it was hot! Oh and they didn't give me any crackers or tostadas, no hot sauce and not even any like to go with it. HORRIBLE!! Ended up just going back to tacos el Tio and ordering their shrimp cocktail that is 32 oz for $13 and has at least 15 shrimp in it. I will probably never go back to this place. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! The food was amazing. We had fish tacos, tostada mixta and fish chicharones were delicious. The food was decent. Had the garlic butter whole fish. It didn't have too much flavor but it was tasty. We ended up eating to the very bones. I loved the flavor of the rice. The shrimp cocktail could have used more flavor. I want to say the food overall could have used more flavoring but it was good. The michelada was tasty. The dessert was a nice touch. First time here and I defiantly recommend it. The aguachiles verdes were full of flavor with a good spice. The micheladas were also good and the cup was the perfect size. Probably the only thing would need improvement would be the check in process. You're supposed scan the QR code that's located outside but if you're new here you probably won't have any idea. As you walk in to check in they send you back outside and scan the QR code which is neat. The welcoming and guidance piece of the business needs a little more work. But good job. Hospitality is great everyone smiles and greets you once seated. Attention to our table was great even the manager at the time checked in with us. I did spot that there is a gap when placing a simple order. The food took too long to drop at our table in my opinion. We didn't complain we where patient and enjoyed the night. The server did mention the kitchen was backed up so I understand and I appreciate everyone checking in almost every 10 minutes. The food was delicious, we had tacos governador and ceviche the camarón. Lastly, the live músicos weren't all that great. To be fair they sounded not so great and uncoordinated, vocals where all over the place making my experience fall off. Some grupos are great but this one wasn't.. 4 stars for Choix visit we love this place ! read more

A million stars if I could!!! Food is amazing. Had a mariscos FEAST!! Itzel (our server) was THE BEST !! Knows her menu & ALL of her recommendations did not disappoint. Be sure to ask for her AND they do a michelada with sparkling water (no alcohol) Service from check in to all table service was fast, efficient, clean, & super friendly ! First thing, service was excellent. Restrooms are clean. Dinning area spacious and maintains social distancing.. We ordered aguachile shrimp and fried tilapia with garlic sauce. The photo on the menu and yelp photos showed whole shrimp with orange color. The aguachile we got where shrimp sliced in half and was so raw that it did not have time to cook/marinate in the "sauce/lemon/lime." It did not look appetizing at all and the shrimp tasted and felt raw - no flavor or natural sweetness. It seemed like they sliced the raw shrimp in half and place it on top of the sauce and serve - no time at all to be properly marinated. And the green sauce should look delicious and vibrant right? The green sauce was muddy - just waiting for the halved shrimp to start swimming. The fried tilapia was ok and the garlic sauce was very subtle. The rice under the fish soaked up all the grease so the rice texture was slimy. They have live music on a Friday night and it was LOUD. Not really fun . I hope they will make sure that the food they serve should match the photos on their menus. read more

The ambiance was great! They have TV's everywhere so the guys were able to watch sports. The Sinaloense tacos were a little too salty for me but super good. We ordered a variety of tostadas and cocktails- all super good. The cilantro alíelo was bomb! Everyone said the oyster shots were a delicacy to try! Highly recommend! It was our first time at this place. My partner ordered a aguachile, no tostadas or like crackers were given , which is basic for aguachiles. Then the micheladas tasted more like Clamato then beer. In any other restaurant they also bring the rest of the beer used for your michelada and these people don't. Which is probably how they save money. I also ordered a cocktail it had no alcohol mostly juice. My next problem is this backwards management and waitresses who have no customer service. We were listening to the music and eating. I was finishing up my food and second drink when the waitress tells us that our two hour time limit had been reached. First off I'm not Opposed to that however it had only been an hour and some minutes. Then later we saw that the same people who had been there before we had even sat down we're still there and did they tell them anything? First I thought perhaps because we aren't ordering loads of food or drinks they are kicking us out. We hanged around while I finished that drink and the tables that were over two hours were not ordering a thing. So this place is that kind of place. The manager, waitress, doesn't like you and they kick you out. So one star, would give zero. read more

We came here several times before pandemic and never left a review but we enjoyed some normalcy here when the first wave of Covid 19 hit after in door got reopened. We were so overwhelmed with life we just wanted to try out drinks chips and salsa. The establishment is small in door dining. There is out door dining available small also. Restrooms are available outside around back. They get cleaned regularly. Staff was following protocols sometimes its more the customers not following directions or being disrespectful and not wanting to wear a mask. Otherwise our experience was a big relief and drinks were good. read more

It was definitely a different experience the place is small and parking super limited, I was about to drive somewhere else because of parking. My husband really wanted to try it so we decided to walk a block to eat here, I am glad we did! Service was amazing the hostess and waitress were super attentive and the food was just delicious. We got the Mar & Tierra tacos as an appetizer and the Molcajete caliente to share. Their house salsa had so much flavor that we wanted to take a bottle home. They have a big patio with live music to put you in a great mood, we had our toddler with us and decided to eat inside which was quieter, she had nuggets and fries that were made fresh which she loved! Definitely worth the over 100 bucks bill lol read more

Been coming to this pace for a while and the foods solid,nothing out this world. But lately the prices have gone up significantly,and it hasn't gotten any better. Just to give an example,a glass of lemonade $10! So because this isn't much of a value anymore we'll most likely look for other places in the area. There's plenty more out there. I want to say that I am beyond impressed by all the staff at Mariscos Choix. From the moment you walk in you are welcomed with a smile. I came in with a party of 4 and was told there was a waitlist to which I didn't mind. A few minutes after my wife asks if we can get some drinks at the bar and they said yes and let me tell you the Nemo was my wife's favorite and Mine was the borracho the presentation and taste is top tier!!! When we finally got the text our table was ready to our surprise Cindy was attending us today and let me tell you she is very genuine. she asked about our engagement and it honestly made us feel like she really cared like if we've been knowing her for years . My brother in law ordered two fish tacos and she asked if we had any peanut allergies (he does) she let us know that the salsa they put on the side contains nuts. There was not 1 staff that didn't come to our table and ask if we needed anything so if you guys are looking for a place with good food,great service,great environment this is the place. We had such a great experience here, especially thanks to Joel! There was a pretty long wait when we arrived, but he immediately took care of us and made it feel worth it. He helped us get settled at the bar while we waited for a table and was super friendly and welcoming the whole time. We were able to order some drinks with him, and they were honestly so delicious. When a table finally became available, Joel personally walked us over and made sure we were comfortable. He let us know a server would be with us shortly to take our food order, which made everything feel smooth and organized. His positive attitude and great service really made the experience stand out. We truly appreciated how attentive and kind he was! Our server Karlen who took over after Joel was also very attentive and would come check on us frequently and made sure we had everything we needed. What can I say , An overall 10/10 experience! Our server Melissa was adorable and full of personality plus. To start off she recommended some new items/dishes and her personal favorites from the menu and to say the least everything had us at a WOW!! To start we had Pata de Mula. When I heard pata de mula I was in a complete shock!! Pata de mula in Downey????? Not a lot of restaurant do but Mariscos choixs is definitely the best pata the mula in the whole county.. Next we had " Tacos de camarón baja y de Pescado baja" waitress personal favorite! So good that we had to get another round. We also had almejas, oysters prepared and natural ones so fresh and delicious. Last but not least Augachiles Negros The flavor, the taste, the spices! Accompanied with a House lemonade best combo. Our experience was made even more remarkable by the incredible service provided by our waitress, Itzel. She was attentive, friendly, and had excellent recommendations for our meal. Never a dull moment here. They upgraded the place and menu and every time I come here I have a great experience I went there with a few friends on a Saturday evening. Everything about this place is EXCELLENT! We got seated immediately after our whole party arrived and the service was great! The weather was warm so I was craving a Michelada and a Coctel de campechana(mixed seafood cocktail). Both of the items I ordered suited the occasion refreshingly, service was quick and staff is friendly and attentive, I did have a minor negative critique, I had a couple fries from my nieces left over dish and It was obvious they cook their fries in the same oil as they do their seafood, I personally didn't mind, but I know some folks that would definitely complain about it, so just a heads up folks. All in all we will definitely be going back since they have an extensive list of items on their menu wich look delicious! read more

We recently visited this restaurant after seeing an Instagram video that made the experience look amazing, but unfortunately, it didn't quite live up to our expectations. The food itself was okay, nothing terrible, and the prices felt higher than what the overall experience justified. One of the biggest disappointments was realizing that what we saw online didn't match what was actually offered when we visited. It seems that certain menu items or presentations highlighted in their social media are only available on weekends, something that wasn't clearly communicated. This made the experience fell a bit misleading and left us whishing we had known ahead of time. Enjoyed our first time at Mariscos Choix. All staff, especially Andre our server made our celebration for a group of 16 one to remember. We were seated in a timely manner for our reservation at 6:15. Drinks were ordered and enjoyed by all. Andre made sure to ask about food allergies which was great as some of their salsas have nuts in them. My son has nut allergies. The food was great we ordered a variety Baja Fish Tacos, Marlin Fish Tacos, De Pulpo, Tostada de Ceviche, Tostada Mixta, Molcajete, Beef Fajitas, Shrimp and chicken nuggets for the kids and everyone was satisfied with their meal. Given we were a large group drinks and food came out in a very timely manner. After dinner, celebration desserts were brought out by the staff for my brother and parents who we were celebrating. He took the time to walk us through the menu, gave great recommendations, and made sure we understood all the delicious seafood options. Woowww!!!! This place keeps getting better and better. I've been coming for some time now, and today was honestly the best. I always get my (tacos mar y Tierra). Let me just tell you.... These juicy ass tacos are bomb! Tortilla is fried, the cheese is fried, shrimp and asada... mmmm La tostada (ceviche de camarón con jaiva) is my favorite. The reason I keep coming back. Don't forget to ask for Chile chiltepin ( you might die) jk. Anyway, this place is honestly the best. As a client of about 4 years, this place is the best. Oh but wait...... there is more..... Ok so I been craving for a Botana choix that I saw a couple time on friends Snapchat. It looks super yummy avocado good presentation. So I went with hubb to take food to go. I order my Botana Choix. ERROR!! They give me 2 boxes, I open one it was only 3 slides of avocado and the other box was the Botana. Omg it was like one tostada serving. We paid almost $28dls which is ok for a Botana but serving was so poor. Flavor was delicious. have nothing to said about the kitchen really good. But never again I'll take botanas to go. They serve so poor portions. If you want a good Botana Mariscos for same price go to La Barca Grill and Cantina. read more

Was very surprised with the wait time which was none. Came here around 1pm on a Saturday and my family and I were seated right away. Have to mention that the food here is very delicious compared to other similar restaurants around the area. Micheladas are buy 1 and second half off! We had a mojara a la diabla ( super delicious ) and chicken fajitas. Our waiter was Guadalupe and she was very sweet and genuinely attentive. Amid the pandemic, things have changed every where and everyone one is trying their best to make things work. I was really hoping for a great experience at this place, but unfortunately, it didn't live up to expectations. The food was mostly mediocre. The Aguachile was alright, but nothing special. The "fresh guacamole made to order" looked more like an old spread -- definitely not what I was expecting. The Tacos Gobernador were fine, but it's disappointing that they charge extra for the chipotle sauce, which is usually included at other places. The chicken fajitas were also underwhelming, lacking the flavor and sizzle I was hoping for. Overall, it wasn't a terrible experience, but I won't be rushing back. read more
