I would never buy anything from Marios, mainly because i can't afford it, lol. However, my husband shops here and primarily in the Hugo Boss section. The skinny, brunette guy who runs the HB counter is wonderful. He knows his shit and will go out of his way (or maybe its just his job) to get you what you need. We just bought a suit for our wedding and he was incredibly informative about when to get alterations and even put a note on his blackberry to give us a reminder call about when to come in for a fitting appointment. Mu husband shops here and whenever we go in to Marios, the staff is always very attentive and helpful. They make excellent suggestions for coordinating pieces (we know they're upselling, but even then, if it looks good~ we'll usually take it). On a few occasions, we've just missed the sale day, and they'll still honor it because we've been longtime customers. It's a great boutique for men~ gets them in and out with what they need, and maybe an extra cashmere sweater or two for fun. read more

Love the men's section. My wife does have some sort of in having gone to the Seattle Art Institute's design school so maybe that's why they bring tailors up and still talk her out of dresses that she loves but don't quite fit right. That's what impressed me the most is the sales staff telling her that there is no way it would work and to let it go when I could tell she was dying to buy it anyway. A push from them the other way would have made them a sale. So not stereotypical of sales staff. read more

I had been in this place a few times over the years, but honestly found it snooty and expensive. When I found the Hugo Boss area and Luke my perspective changed. Luke is outstanding and worked hard to get me a great looking suit at the price a great looking suit is going to cost. The service & product knowledge is outstanding, Marios is the first place I stop and have always been extremely satisfied with the selection from denim to gowns for a gala. My experience couldn't get any better. Me and my 3 other friends are all colored UW students, we needed to get a suit for one of our friends as he had a scholarship ceremony that he needed to attended. The whole day we went to Westlake shopping for him, gaining sideway looks and getting absolutely no help from any associates. They thought we were only there to steal or look around, not seriously buy (not knowing we had about $3k to spend on a suit). We were very ticked off, literally all the places did the same thing (Macy's, Nordstrom, etc) so Mario's was our final hope. As soon as we walked in we were greeted. We got help from a Bosnian lady, who was so incredibly nice. She was so helpful and found a perfect suit for Jamal, for only about $200! She was very friendly and chatty. The entire staff was lovely, they all literally came to us and spoke to us about our story and what not. I am not kidding when I tell you we met the entire store. They were all incredibly nice and told us stories, they weren't doing it for any reason apart from genuinely being good people. The suit is very dapper and Jamal loves it, and the customer service is something I've never seen before. Recommend this store for everyone. read more

An indispensable resource for the groom-to-be. Fantastic suits and incredibly helpful staff that will see you through every step of the process. My assistant even advised me on accessories to pick up in other locations to cut down on costs. With only a few days left before I had to depart for a destination wedding, they spotted additional alterations needed to tighten up the pants and handled it on an expedited basis at no extra cost (including a fresh pressing of the entire outfit). Mario's selection is always top notch. While some of their options might be slightly too pricey for me at times, they do have options at each price tier. Mario's is the best men's clothing store in town, and almost the only place a man really needs to shop. The clothes tend to be extremely well-made. Most of the pieces I buy last well over ten years. (The shoes, I expect to last a lifetime.) We create our own customer service experiences, I believe. Not once in over ten years has anyone been less than welcoming to me. Men (and women looking to shop for men) should ask for Vito -- he's extremely helpful and refreshingly honest. He'll politely hint that certain items might not be appropriate (either for fit or quality reasons) -- quite a departure from a salesperson in the average store, looking to make a sale no matter what. Yes Mario's carry beautiful high-end clothes, etc. But what makes Mario's special is the people. Without Eva and her tailors, none of the merchandise will look beautiful on you unless you are lucky to have a model figure. Without Kelly, I would never have gone outside of my "comfortable" box to invent/reinvent my style. Yes Barneys and Nordy carry similar high-end merchandise- but they do not have nor retain the skill-set Mario's team has for years. Yes it is tough on my bank account- but what you get from Mario's will be tailored to fit you perfectly and they are "forever" pieces. Well Worth Every $$$!!!! read more

Unbelievably poor customer service. The sales staff are everything that high-end retail sales people should NOT be - pretentious, impatient and condescending. The man that "helped" me chided me for second guessing the purchase of a sale item, and then laughed when I inquired on the return policy. Do yourself a favor and stick to Nordstrom or Barney's. read more

I worked at a luxury boutique for several years, so I have a firsthand perspective on what service professionalism should look like. This past Saturday, I strolled into Mario's while I killed time waiting for my son to finish an event he was participating in. I want to say I was in the store for at least 30 minutes. In more than half an hour, not a single person greeted me with a hello, how can I help you, nothing. Full disclosure, a tall bald gentleman in an awesome twill bold pinstripe bespoked suit did acknowledge me with a smile and nod, as he was chatting with a customer at the register. A few of the comments in other reviews suggest the sales staff is pretentious. I agree. I am going to go a step further, it is likely they don't get too many black men in their store either. I don't have the height of an NBA player and Seattle lacks a team so it is likely one could surmise, I am not a basketball player. I am clearly no NFL player. And I had no enterouge so it was unlikely I was a rapper. I did have melanin, maybe that was the problem. I also likely had more knowledge about many of their brands than most of their staff. The only pleasantries beyond the half acknowledgement from the tall bald guy came from the middling melanated gentleman at the door, the security guard and I exchanged salutations upon entry and exit. In my experience, Mario's was a pretentious and uninviting place. The million dollar question, are the people employed at Mario's racist, and they don't acknowledge any minority patrons in their store or are they just judgemental of everyone because they lack training in what service and salesmanship really looks like? read more

i think the men's selction is better than the girls but jeeez the girls clothing selction is lame. just because its expesive does not mean it look good.... however the shoes are another story the have great slection of design womens shoes. but no matter this place has nothing is going to repel me faster than the god awful window displays..please do something better, im bummed every day on my walk to work because of the crap displays read more

i had old memories of mario's from a few decades ago, when mario was on one floor and the women's dept was schmoosed into a corner & i ,too, had an experience that wasn't one to brag about & a checkbook of a retail fashion salesperson, then a poor travel agent out of college. now, in the present millenium, i went with a friend who was shopping for a dress for her wedding & as i surmised the women's dept, now the entire floor, accessible by elevator ( i have a disability) or a gorgeous grand staircase, i found a prada little sport piece & asked this adorable salesgirl (who looked like alice, in alice in wonderland with the sweetest smile and turned out to be the most helpful & went way beyond the call of duty & friendship as the years have passed) if i could try it on. "ofcourse" she said. i ended up buying that day a purse and a cute outfit, not inexpensive, but i still wear and use it 10yrs later. she has now become a customer service rep (which she is perfect) & still helps me...and now suzee is my salesperson which really encompasses more than that word usually means...she blends my taste with some experimenting which sometimes means less black or more fitted...or maybe a new designer like akris. and that is something that they are specialized at-knowing their merchandise...like when christa first put me in a prada dress for the wedding that put me into the store in the very beginning- it was something that absolutely looked bizarre on the hanger & then i thought it would never fit or look good on me-but it was the one! and i felt beautiful. and then their alteration women are magicians and it's complimentary, unlike neiman marcus. i feel like they have become family with the way they have taken care of me and my health issues, and you cynics can say, 'sure, cuz you spend a lot of money there."and there's a place for everyone cuz i find the opposite exp. at barney's. well, i will say yes they are professional, have designer lines at different price ranges ( sport lines & great jeans at diff .$), and from the top,mario, and to the sales staff- too many to mention have humor,knowledge and warmth. read more
