When you hear steak or steak houses, people always assume that they'd have to splurge just to…read moresatisfy their craving. I thought of this often too until a friend of mine introduced me to Everything at Steak in the Greenhills area. Of course, I got their steak and two sides. It was really good actually. I was very satisfied with how it tasted and how it was priced. The mac and cheese was a really good side dish. It could actually be a meal on its own. The corn and carrots are of course a staple when you order steak. Generally, my meal was good. It was basically a good piece of steak cooked to my preference. The there ambiance was also something I'd prefer. It was light and not cramped. Steak houses are usually designed with heavy color tones and dark lighting. It's usually gives a heavy and carb-loading feeling, if anyone can relate. So yes, I liked it there! It's definitely one place I'd frequent.

But we're also a stingy family, so you can see where the struggle lies with us. But with Everything At Steak, it was supposedly great, hearty steaks for an affordable price! With a spiel like that, you're sure to bring my family in to the mix. And that is Everything At Steak's biggest selling point. You get a steak for under P300, and that's a steal you don't get often. Plus, it's a pretty big serving of steak. Just visually, you're getting more than you paid for. But a steak is more than just its size. In order for a steak to be worth it, it also has to be worth it flavor-wise. That's where Everything At Steak falls flat for me. The steak at times are dry and tough, and that makes it such a chore to eat. The sidings aren't that great either. But there are times that the steak is tender, and for those times it definitely is worth it.

My dad always talked about the Caesar Salad that they make table side and the Lobster Bisque (which he loved but was allergic to). When I heard the restaurant transferred to San Juan, my dad was ecstatic! Since then, we have been coming back to celebrate special occasions. The most recent dinner was to celebrate my brother's oath taking. What I love most about Cowrie Grill is that, when you eat here, you get what you pay for! The ambiance is sophisticated without being snobbish. The restaurant always gives a warm feel. The staff are so attentive and efficient. The food: delicious! The past few dinners we have had here, we availed of the Citibank credit card promo which offers 4 sets of 4 course meals you can choose from. You will always start with bread served with 3 kinds of butter: sun-dried tomatoes, rosemary and classic french. Your server will ask if you want more bread and butter, just do it! The bread is freshly baked and do ask for the sourdough bread. Next, you will have soup. The soup will depend on what is available. I always get the Mushroom Soup. Then, you will have the Caesar Salad! There salad is crisp and just so yummy. Not too salty, just enough parmesan cheese. Love it! Now, for the main dish, the steak! On our recent visit, my brother and I ordered the Tomahawk with prawns. This was good for 2 people and they cooked the steak perfectly: Medium Rare! The sides were baked potato and biryani rice. So so good! Five start hotel restaurant dining experience as expected. Thank you to the friendly staff who go out of their way to make every visit a memorable experience.

To my surprise, as soon as we set foot on the premises, several employees took it upon themselves to offer them an arm to help them to our table. That gesture did not go unnoticed. The servers immediately took our drink orders and gave us a few minutes to peruse the menu. When we placed our entree orders, we didn't have to wait long before our meat came to us on a sizzling plate. I loved the aromas wafting into my nose - it made my mouth water in expectation. And when I finally bit into the beef, I was in heaven. Servings are huge and generous! And the price points are more than reasonable. The interiors are pleasant and do not at all detract from the star - the wagyu beef. My mom couldn't stop gaping at all the meat they had sitting in the refrigerator. The servers entertained all of my father's questions to his satisfaction. It was a wonderful experience for all three of us. Their kindness to senior citizens and families made it so much easier for me to take my elderly parents out to dine - House of Wagyu definitely set the bar for how restaurants should treat this specific age bracket. And I know when I'm back in Manila, I will visit them again and again.

I was first introduced to it in 2010 when I was on the prowl for a restaurant to celebrate my birthday in with family. Back then, I used to work in Eastwood and so I stumbled across it when I was walking around the premises. Since then, it's the Greenhills branch I've patronized since it's a stone's throw from the spa I visit. I always order the same thing: Top Sirloin Grade 9 (220g - SOLO). It's the most affordable item on the menu (steak-wise), and to get straight to the point, it is SO DAMN GOOD. Seriously!!! I love my steak and while one has the option to grill it on the stone, I ask the server to do it because I'm particular about not ending up smelling like a walking grill whenever I leave an establishment. Plus, I don't trust myself to determine the doneness of the steak. Orders are inclusive of soup and steamed vegetables. For appetizer, Oysters Rockefeller is the way to go.

Celebrated mother's day here since the 1st restaurant we tried to reserve didn't honor our…read morereservation. I was excited to be eating at Melo's since it would be my first time and it is awarded as one of the best. Plus, it looks posh and classy. For today, they have a special menu: main course of your choice (choose from the menu), toasts with liver pate for appetizer (one plate for four people), caesar salad or classic onion soup, and a strawberry, white chocolate pudding with graham crackers for dessert. Most of my family ordered different kind of steaks. My mom had the salmon. I got the fisherman's pasta, while the kids ordered duck breast and foie gras carbonara. Sadly, they do not have a special menu for the kids. I wasn't able to try the steak, but they said it was okay. My dad who ordered the Wagyu New York Striploin Grade 5A said it was tender at first but got tired of chewing everything so he wasnt able to finish it. My pasta included mussels, clams, scallop, squid, fish, and the highlighter 3pcs of tiger prawns in tomato and cognac sauce. This pasta dish is delicious and the serving is generous. The only sad part was the three tiger prawns are so small, a suahe would look bigger. For the carbonara, the duck breast was a little tough, but the foie gras is very tender with a texture of a chinese-style pork blood. The pasta itself has the right consistency as well. My mom's salmon was also good. It looked big at first, but she was able to finish it. The fish is light but the hollandaise sauce is a little too salty. For the appetizers, the caesar salad was okay. SImple and nothing fancy, not even in the garnishing, just a flat layer of lettuce with dressing. The onion soup was very salty though. Dessert was good. Layers of white chocolate and chiffon with strawberry slices. Service was fine. The staff was eager to serve us and keep us updated on the developments of our dishes. There was a little misunderstanding awhile ago though when my sister-in-law requested for the pasta to be changed into spaghetti instead. The staff agreed at first but when the dish arrived, it was still fettucine. He failed to mention that the pasta cannot be changed. Be warned though. When you ask what is good, the server always points to the most expensive thing on the menu. It may really be that good, but the prices are shocking. Anyway, at least I have tried to eat here for the experience. I do not understand the hype this restaurant is getting, but I find everything too expensive for what they offer. The food is not even exceptionally good.
