Ehh. It's alright. I came here with my uncle for meryenda. Meryenda is only 238 PHP (Less than $5), and you get a bunch of small bites. I came here already full from eating at Shake Shack but my uncle wanted to come here to take a break from walking. The have options like corn dogs, pasta, arroz caldo, bibingka, ensaymada, juice, soda, etc. All the items are just ok quality. You get what you pay for. Dad's is where you literally, PIG out. (check out my lechon photo!) If there's one thing that Filipinos are known for, it's the genuine love of food and eating in general. The first question you'll usually get when you visit someone's home is "kumain ka na?" (did you eat already?) and while my mom is nothing short of amazing when it comes to cooking, we opted to bring the whole barangay (aka village!) to Dad's for my lola's 81st bday. While the dinner buffet price is now 788 pesos, it's still a bit cheaper than Vikings or other buffet restaurants that have been popping up left and right all over the city. Plus, the SM Megamall location was super convenient to my mom's place. We had a problem with our reservation (a miscommunication about seating arrangements) so that was a bit of an awkward start to our meal. But the service throughout was incredibly warm and we even got the singers to do a couple of songs for our bday celebrant! At Dad's, make room for lechon and the carving station! we do LOVE our MMMeat and will happily load up our plates with delicious morsels of protein. Anything at the hot station is also great and especially the classic Filipino food like pinakbet, adobo, sinigang, escabeche, pansit and of course the ever popular, fried lumpia. There is also different "world" stations that feature Thai, Malaysian (nasi goreng!), Chinese and even some Indian curries. I tend to steer clear of the Japanese sushi spread since I'm leery of the fish offerings there, but it seems to be a crowd pleaser. Ever been to a buffet with all you can eat crispy pata on different levels (skin, meat, lecon, etc?) How about all you can eat filipino street food (quek quek, bbq, inihaw, etc.) Or all you can eat sushi, quality entrees, dessert, ice cream and more? All with excellent presentation? For a group of 40, we got a great deal for about $10 (US)/person. In the US, that is a steal for this type of buffet! Dad's was one of my favorite eating highlights of my trip to the Philippines. There was a time when Saisaki and DAD's were affordable. Now is just no longer that time. However, I don't think their food can be matched, still, especially their Saisaki sushi corner. Whenever I go to Saisaki and try all of their sushi, I feel like I've tasted every single possible sushi in the world. It's THAT many! There are crispy ones, raw ones, overly spicy ones, ones that make you regret you even chose them, ones that tasted just like any other sushi out there but not really...they are just fantastic. I don't remember how many times I've left here barely having the ability to walk with all the Japanese rice I've consumed. I actually wish Saisaki made their sushi and maki smalle and less compact, you know. It's just not fair! My small stomach would be full before I eat them all! (of course I'm just whining here. They are all utterly satisfying.) Overall, I can never say a bad thing about this buffet restaurant. I just am not a fan of their eating areas. It's sort of a bummer, because you pay so much and you'd be sitting at often dirty tables. But whatevs, right? read more

An afternoon buffet not worth paying for. If you read the comment of Aron J posted 5/17/2019, it is on point. Never go here for their afternoon merienda buffet unless you get there at exactly the time they open. And even if you do get there during the time they open, are you really that desperate to have and even fight for mediocre food. You can afford the price so go and spend it on better food and better service. If you go there about an hour before their closing time, it will be a waste of your money. And yes, the comment about the unfriendly lady who's supposed to greet you and offer you a table is very accurate. She must really hate her job. They run out of food and they don't refill them. They start changing the food for their dinner service even before their merienda hour is over and so when you think you can pick-up a new set of food, they will ask you to return it because it is not part of the selection for merienda even though it is clearly still your hour to get any food you want from the area they designated for you during the afternoon buffet. You can reason out and even make a scene to point out the fact but again, is it worth your time. Lesson learned here and we are sharing this experience so that you don't have to experience bad service as well as mediocre food. Not worth the time and hassle. read more

Before Vikings, Buffet 101, and Sambo Kojin, there was Dad's, Kamayan, and Saisaki. This 3-part buffet served simple Filipino, American, and Japanese food that you could find in all the fine dining buffet restos that have popped up everywhere, but at a much more affordable price. In fact, my boyfriend was unafraid to claim how he preferred Dad's over Vikings. He says it's because, unlike Vikings, Dad's serves food he's much more familiar with, thus enjoys eating here more. I do agree that Dad's serves food we've all grown up eating, so it's perfect for those non-adventurous Filipinos who want to eat food they know and love. read more

DO NOT COME HERE DURING Meryenda All you can eat time. Know I remember why I hate buffets. The greeting from the lady at the front was not friendly, and did not have an expected time rate for seats within the restaurant, so we sat outside. The main problem I have with this place is that coming here on a Friday (payday for most) during a time where Dads has a promo for their Meryenda. Line ups are long, customers take an abundant amount on to their plates leaving other patrons waiting for a new batch to come in, people are fighting and insulting each other in the line for the most pettiest things. One lady insulted the filipino girl with a white boyfriend and threw racial slurs, which I have never experienced in my life visiting the Philippines. Lastly, the food during this time is low quality. The food is either overly salted/seasoned, lack of variety and authenticity, quickly gone in a matter of seconds, and either burnt or over cooked. I recommend if you want a place to eat without the anxiety and stress of crowds, lack luster food, poor customer service, and bland variety, I STRONGLY suggest that you avoid this place and go to a sit down restaurant that can serve you one on one. read more

Dads World Buffet, which includes Kamayan and Saisaki, is one of the first few buffet restaurants that I have tried. This 3-part buffet has been a part of SM Megamall for so many years now. It has been in Manila even before the arrival of popular Yakiniku buffet restaurants like Sambo Kojin and Tong Yang. I initially thought that the craze for Dads would slowly die down with the appearance of bigger and classier buffet restaurants, but I was so wrong. Every time I go to SM Megamall, there would always be a long line outside Dads World Buffet. I guess what makes this buffet restaurant so popular among the masses is its wide food selection. They have a combination of American, Filipino, and Japanese food. It's also really affordable and they always have special promotions for their valued customers. read more

Dad's, Kamayan and Saisaki. Well, if it isn't a throwback to the good old days when buffet restaurants were much simpler and loads cheaper? Thankfully, this chain still exists and you can still rely on it to get your fill of American, Filipino and Japanese food respectfully. All you want, for a very affordable price. I like it here because I feel like I never have to rush and there are just so many options to choose from. So much so that I never really get to try EVERYTHING because I'm so full by the end of the day or the night. To be honest, the role this buffet plays in my life is that it supports the moments wherein I just turn into a total pig. When I turn into a total pig all I really care about is that there should be a lot of food, they should taste decent enough, and they don't burn a hole through my wallet. Well, my pig-self, the answer is always the trio of Dads-Saisaki-Kamayan. Their buffet is kinda wild. They have so many varieties, from Japanese to Filipino to Chinese to Italian and to more. Another name they use is World Buffet, and that's pretty much fitting. Yes, they don't have the best quality but come on, there are times wherein it's really not a big deal for you. Plus, at P500 bucks? No one's fooled that they're churning out high quality stuff. By just constantly filling my plate with salmon sashimi, I know I'm getting my every peso back.
