3.5 stars sadly. we went for the seafood night because i love lobster and wanted to experience unlimited lobster. there's a LOT of sections in the buffet and each cuisine almost had their own crab dish and multiple seafood dishes as well as other meats and pasta/noodle/carb items. it's legit. but the lobster and a lot of the seafood were dry and overcooked. i did about 3 rounds of lobster orders though and i noticed every next round, the lobster got much much better so the dryness and overcooked stated of the first one might just be from mass preparation for the start of dinner service. there's not much to say about the place and ambiance itself but it was huge and had multiple sections. a bit odd though is some sections are very far from most of the main food area so i wasn't even aware there was a japanese section in the far back. they do have a lot of options so that's good. and unfortunately there was a server that gave a bit of uncalled for attitude. most were pretty helpful though.

mouth watering,,..very tasty and i love all the food

Best hotel buffet in Manila. There are only two types of food here: "masarap" (delicious) and "napakasarap" (super delicious).

My favorite buffet resto in Manila! Especially at seafood night - every station has a lot of seafood dishes!

What stood out about this restaurant was the exceptional customer service and the cultural dancing while you eat delicious traditional Filipino food buffet style. I don't know if it's because they cater to tourist that makes this place so special but I left here feeling very full and very happy from the cultural performances. What was also fun was after the performances they invite the visitors from different regions of the world up to the stage and taking a picture with the dance performers. It provided a great keepsake to take back home. They also perform different songs from around the Philippines and the different dialects they speak and where they are from providing an educational opportunity. One of the songs was from the region, where my mother's father is from which is why I took a trip to the Philippines to learn more about my grandfather's culture and homeland. This touched my soul deeply and will never forget my time at Barbara's. The food was outstanding and very tourist friendly. I went up two times to partake in the delicious offerings from the buffet. I think the best thing about this place too is to have experienced all of this in an air-conditioned building. It was a nice reprieve from the 90+ degrees Fahrenheit with humidity weather that I endured in Manila. I also attended another restaurant with the cultural performance, and it was outside, and the experience was not as special due to the weather. So that's why I can't say enough good things about how I was treated and the yummy food that I ate and the beautiful cultural performances I admired at Barbara's. Highly recommend Barbara's while visiting the Philippines .

If anything I ordered here was extraordinary, it would be the iced tea. I just can't forget the reaction of my sister to the face I made after just one sip. She laughed so hard the entire lunch we've spent in Makan! Okay, let me describe to you their perfect iced tea. It's not instant for sure. I can taste the lovely bitterness of the tea leaves this was extracted from. It almost tasted like a real fresh, literal tea with ice. Even the slight flavor of lemon sweetened by honey was oh-so delicious. It was the most perfect Iced tea I ever had in the Philippines! Oh, they also have an awesome Bagoong Rice. And pad thai that has sorta "kunat" nuts. But mostly, you can come here for the iced tea. It's just perfect.

Maybe it's tradition. Maybe we just got used to the idea, and like mice conditioned to fulfill a certain directive when faced with particular stimuli, we respond. Or maybe it's the food, because let's face it, the food here is amazeballs. The cuisine is classic Kapampangan, I think - either way, every single dish is a delight to eat. And once you've gone through all of the viand choices, they also have classic Filipino desserts to cap off the meal. Enjoy!

I thought eating there would be a nostalgic experience of the glory days; it turned out to be a regretful revelation that some things in life, like the food you grew up salivating for, do change for the worst. Yes, Cabalen showcases the rich Kapangpangan Culture; but it was supposed to be Chicken in their Afritada, so it was just arresting when they decided to drown the poor fowl on an ocean of oil without a pretentious attempt to include tomato sauce in its murder. The school of grilled Bangus (Milkfish), Dalag (Mudfish), and Tilapia can likened to a seafood barbecue gone wrong that the only hope for the poor fishes' survival was to hose them down. Their famous Kare-Kare and Sisig were surprisingly lifeless that it wasn't enough to soften the blow of this outrageous catastrophe. At the end, my supposed to be dinner down the memory lane was bridged by their stir fried noodles so typical that eating it in their establishment makes the Pancit Bihon at my old school's canteen a million bucks slice of heaven. I shall never allow this accident happen to me again.

So, we had our welcome back dinner + celebrating my Tai Kong's Death Anniversary (Great Grandpa) here last Sunday with the whole family. Why here? Because the oldies (HEEHEE) doesn't like crowded buffet place. We occupied half of Market Cafe that night. I didn't like their ube icecream. So disappointed, my favorite Calamansi Sherbet is gone Well this time their dessert station is quite good, the pastries are nice and yummy unlike before. They also have Wine and Beers. For the service, all of their staff were friendly and attentive. Follow @CHEFFYMITCHYU on Instagram for more food photos and to discover new restaurants in the metro.

If you are not a hotel guest, then the breakfast is 399 PHP, no extra charges above that. That's of as of this date; and also, as of this date and the current exchange rates for USD/PHP, that means the price of the buffet breakfast is under $8 USD. Eggs are cooked to order, but not consistently correctly, but, you know, this happens in the Philippines. Coffee is good - not always a given here, as what you get in many places is basically just a cup of hot brown water when you order coffee. Lot of great Filipino favorites in the buffet, like tocino, garlic rice, hot dogs (yes, for breakfast, big favorite in the Philippines), many different kinds of fruit, vegetables, etc. No cereal offered. The aforementioned coffee, and tea, and fresh-squeezed pineapple juice and orange juice are proffered as drinks. The fresh-squeezed pineapple juice is heavenly and will make you feel better about life in general. My voracity was of huge proportions as I had just come off a 23-hour flight from the States, and man, did I go after it hard here - three eggs, tocino, watermelon, cantaloupe, garlic rice, pineapple juice, several cups of coffee, and a cinnamon pastry. Service is very attentive without being overbearing, and quite prompt. Very nice dining room with views out onto the street, and, somewhat astoundingly, considering what year it is and the location, a steady stream of Miles Davis in my ears offered a great aural background to my leisurely sojourn there. I left feeling fat and happy, with a new attitude, and plenty of fuel for the fire within that day.
