The dim sum cart came around quick, and we loaded up on hakaw, siu mai, char siu bao, and those amazing crispy taro puffs--everything was hot, fresh, and tasted just like the old-school spots back home. The spare ribs were tender and saucy, not overly sweet, and the yang chow fried rice had that perfect wok hei. Service was friendly even though it was packed; our server made sure we had hot tea refills without us asking. Super affordable too--we fed six of us and still had leftovers for under 2k. Total comfort food win. Definitely heading back next time we're in the area. Five stars all the way!

I can summarily declare that all the items we ordered were below our culinary standards in the following order from worst to not so bad. HK style fried noodles, the sauce was peanuty tasting poured over noodles. Horrible looking. The congee is not very appealing to the eyes and the palate. The duck was bony. The congee itself was barely hot. Siomai was no good either. The roasted duck with rice again lacking presentation appeal. The tofu skin roll is ok thus the 2 star. The waiter was very green. Served our sodas without glasses. Avoid and don't believe the hype.

Since I cannot watch movies without a siopao or two to munch on, I'm glad there's a Kowloon House near where I used to live. It's in a strip mall fronting Brazil street, which makes it not too far from SM Bicutan. Whether asado or bola-bola, Kowloon has been able to maintain its terrific taste over the decades. This place is open until late into the evening, so whenever the urge hits, I can be sure that I can get my favourite jumbo siopao practically anytime. Kowloon claims to have the "world's best dimsum" and it's not an idle boast. How else could it have survived for the longest time? However, the outlet along Dona Soledad Avenue says it's open 24 hours a day, but there have been several occasions when I passed by and it was closed for business. The place is more kiosk than restaurant, by the way. There are only a handful of tables and chairs, but that's ok. Most customers order take out anyway. There's been only one out of so many times when I wasn't totally satisfied with my Kowloon siopao. The taste seemed funny, close to spoiling. I chalk up that one bad experience to their possibly recycling unsold siopao. Or maybe it was just one bad batch out of thousands sold every month. I've been crazy for Kowloon House siopao ever since I was a kid. I still am. Five stars for the world's best dimsum!

Nonetheless, I decided to give it a try. The interior of this branch is very relaxing. The decorations, the design of the tables and the hall itself resemble the traditional design of Chinese restaurants, but the use of light colors and bright lighting makes one feel at ease here. The service is very timely and cordial. This restaurant is perfect for large groups of people celebrating birthdays, baptisms, and other life events. If you are looking for a relatively quiet dining place, this is not your cup of tea. Keeping with its Chinese theme, Luk Foo offers a wide variety of classic Chinese foods, such as yang chow rice, Chinese-style chicken, dumplings, and pancit canton. Whether your order is for solo meals or groups, the servings are really large. In fact, our group went home with a lot of leftovers that were consumed the next few days. Customers will have their appetites satisfied and they all taste delicious. I particularly enjoyed its version of cream dory, which is crispy and tender at the same time. The meals are also really cheap given the serving size. Honestly, this may be one of the most affordable restaurants I have ever been in. If you are in the Caloocan area craving for Chinese food with your friends and family, Luk Foo in Puregold Caloocan is probably the best Chinese-themed restaurant in the area.
