good affordable food. great service (excellent queueing system). available road side parking. highly recommended! was surprised by their customer restroom (2nd floor), its not perfect, but its "usable." will definitely visit again! This is one of the very few restaurants in Binondo where everything we ordered arrived... (in other restos) there's always a dish that won't arrive... guy serving us made sure that everything we ordered arrived! some were late, but everything in our list was there!

This place has excellent service and stellar reputation for authentic Chinese food. Located in the heart of China town in Manila , in the area called binondo , it can be easily found, I won't recommend it for folks who don't like to risk eating in alleys, back streets and restaurants whose kitchen is open 24/7 and have no time to power wash everyday. You can enjoy authentic dumplings and famous Chinese butter chicken . Parking is available across the street if you can find one , recommend going later in night to avoid wait and easy parking. They are open till 2 am and food tasted as delicious as in the day.

This restaurant offers a wide range of choices under the Chinese cuisine. We usually eat here during Sundays or whenever there is a family occasion. Our staple orders are: Beef Ho Fan, Spinach Soup, Hakaw, Cheung fan and lemon chicken. I usually order their milk tea! It tastes authentic. Recently, I tried their Four seasons shake and I guess I will order it from now on. It's so refreshing and has real fruit bits. Just make sure to bring your patience especially on weekends since this place is full house most of the time. Definitely a family favorite and I'm sure the best one in Binondo.

That sweet, sweet crispy peking duck skin

Ying Ying Teahouse in Escolta, Quiapo is a place that most people deem as the best-kept-secret of Binondo when in fact it is far from it. Everyone knows it's there and it has its own share of fans and critics alike, of which I belong to the latter. For a place that has become almost fabled, the food deviates from bland to meh. The Xiao long bao, a dish known and loved for the soup inside, was missing guess what - the soup inside! The only time it went to a level of taste that it has come to be known for was when I was eating the peking duck. Peking duck is a hard dish to mess up, though, as its natural flavor should be able to carry you. For me, the only thing Ying Ying has going for it is that they have parking, something that's rare enough in Binondo to sway one's opinion of the place.

The dim sum cart came around quick, and we loaded up on hakaw, siu mai, char siu bao, and those amazing crispy taro puffs--everything was hot, fresh, and tasted just like the old-school spots back home. The spare ribs were tender and saucy, not overly sweet, and the yang chow fried rice had that perfect wok hei. Service was friendly even though it was packed; our server made sure we had hot tea refills without us asking. Super affordable too--we fed six of us and still had leftovers for under 2k. Total comfort food win. Definitely heading back next time we're in the area. Five stars all the way!

I can summarily declare that all the items we ordered were below our culinary standards in the following order from worst to not so bad. HK style fried noodles, the sauce was peanuty tasting poured over noodles. Horrible looking. The congee is not very appealing to the eyes and the palate. The duck was bony. The congee itself was barely hot. Siomai was no good either. The roasted duck with rice again lacking presentation appeal. The tofu skin roll is ok thus the 2 star. The waiter was very green. Served our sodas without glasses. Avoid and don't believe the hype.

Philippine Vacay 03-2025…read more Got a history lesson from Manila. This is the very first Chinatown in the world which was established in the Philippines in the 1800s! We wanted Chinese food so we went to the heartland of Manila's Chinatown. We got dropped off on the Grab App in a basic Chinatown location. Upon being dropped off, we stumbled on this Chinese restaurant. We got in and the restaurant was cool and clean. We were greeted nicely and was seated to our table. Ordered crabs, shrimp, fried rice, lobster entree, Birds nest soup, and broccoli beef. Everything was superb. No complaints. The ambiance of this place reminded me of a bruce lee movie I watched not to long ago. This was a safe heaven for being comfortable away from the heat. I would definitely come back again. The food was well worth it. Delicious! Pricing was cheap for all entrees except the lobster entree. They got me on that one. I did not understand the cost at the time of order. For a party of 10, the final bill was very cheap, minus the lobster which was almost $100 us dollars. Smh Place is a Gem in Chinatown.

This was my first time in Manila, but the restaurant felt familiar, with a classic universal Chinatown vibe. A spacious dining room with huge tables and a worn-in banquet hall vibe. Lazy susans, dragons and red lanterns, laminated menus a thousand items long. Service was fast and polite, and we were in and out in about an hour. Our guide took care of the ordering, curating a nice spread from that giant menu, which had whole half-page sections for shark's fin and pigeon and frog. We didn't get any of those, but we did have some bird's nest soup, which I think was a first for me. It was interesting, if not especially delicious, kind of a goopier version of an egg drop soup. I didn't bother looking up the dish until now, and have just learned that I ate soup made with hardened bird saliva. Yum. Everything else was less exotic, and it was all pretty tasty, if not especially memorable. I liked the salt and pepper fried squid and the sautéed scallops with broccoli. There was a pot of breaded fish and tofu in a nice, soupy, flavorful sauce. The sweet and sour pork with pineapple appealed to my American Chinese-loving palate, as did the shrimp and pork fried rice. We didn't have dessert, but many of us did indulge in some cold sweet beverages, great for a hot Manila day. I liked both the calamansi juice and the green mango shake, a pleasantly sour, frosty drink made with unripe mango. I wouldn't go out of my way for this restaurant, but it's a solid spot for an indulgent Chinese meal if you're visiting Manila's Chinatown. I had a good time at President Grand Palace, and do not regret the bird saliva soup.

The waiting and the service? Ummmm I don't think it's worth it. A friend and I went on a Wednesday morning (10am?) and we were second in line...which ended up being a 30 mins wait. There was a huge party inside -- I know, at 10AM -- and not enough staff. And the one waiter that took our order -- let's just say with all of the waiters you need patience. Because you will only get their attention like 3x total during your meal. Once our waiter sat us down, we didn't see him for another 10-15 mins. Then when we finally flagged him down and began to order, for one of the dishes we wanted, he was going to leave us to check if the dish was still available, but we advised him to take down the rest of our order before leaving us, because who knew when we were going to see him again. Turns out the dish he was going to check if it was still available was still available -- he didn't inform us until literally he brought the dish -- and I wish he told us that the dish was big enough for 4-5 people because there was no way 2 people could finish that when we also ordered a bunch of dishes. One of our other dishes also didn't come, and when I brought it to his attention, voila, he brought it out to us... after we got the check. Alright, so here's what we ordered: - Siopao asado: freaking delicious, but you don't have to get this here. Any Eng Bee Tin sells this!! - Adobo Tofu: this is fine, nothing too crazy -- not really adobo sauce, more like tofu in chicken feet sauce - Kiam pong: no peanuts, straight up just rice with soy sauce -- but better - Fishball soup: oof, this slapped! I would order it with noodles next time, but this was so freaking good. - Lechon kawali: you can't mess up lechon kawali, and they didn't, so this was good. - Lo misua: this feeds 4-5 people so beware!!! It's a freaking huge portion! This is the dish that our waiter wasn't sure they had enough of, so this may sell out by evening - Pork and Shrimp siomai: I think the hardest thing was to find Cantonese style siomai because there's also a Filipino style siomai -- this was the Cantonese style ones I love this place, I think the food is great. Again, I do not think the waiting and service is worth it, though. The place is small/medium, but the wait for anything/everything is too damn long. At that day, we decided to order the second best-selling dish: the Char Kway Teow. It's much like Lamien Guisado, equally flavourful and good for the tummy. Then Ric thought of ordering some seaweed soup. At 100 pesos, it was yummy. Think of Miso Soup with seaweed and scrambled egg, that's what it is. The flavour of the soup is comforting and tasty. To top our lunch meal, we took on some squash hopia (photo below) which didn't seem and taste like hopia for 50 pesos per plate. It was a surprise, as far as I am concerned. It particularly had a hint of squash, and its texture is similar to fried tikoy. I liked it!

It doesn't need yelp for people to find it. It's common knowledge in this town where to go for the best lugaw/jook. My grandparents and parents have been coming here for years. Their bola bola lugaw makes headlines on my friend's Facebook/IG/snapchat posts. Their noodles (all made in house!) are what people seek when they come to Binondo. Their siomai and siopao are so lipsmacking delicious and will fill your belly with so much goodness that it doesn't compare to anything I've had Stateside. I will anticipate and salivate over Ling Nam's comfort foods from now on until I've had it again. Ma, kelan tayo uwi sa Manila? P.S. shoutout to Manong Manny who's worked here for 36 years =)

Ling Nam brings back so many delightful memories that I would love to relive over and over again. When it comes to Beef Noodle Soup, I really think Ling Nam does it the best. You see, there are many kinds of Chinese Beef Noodle Soup that all play with different versions of the broth. This one in particular is much likened to the Fookien style of cooking. Not too strong nor too light soup. Hard noodles, soft meat and a whole lot of beef broth. It's a hearty and full meal on its own. But when you're here, make sure to order a side of Siomai topped with kalamansi. This dish goes well with your noodle soup as you drink every last bit of it.
