Star Tuckpointing was recommended to me by a friend, and I'm glad I chose them. They were…read morestraightforward, honest, and fairly priced from start to finish. They took the time to explain exactly what work needed to be done, why it was necessary, and answered all of my questions, including advice on future masonry projects around my property. Communication was excellent, with clear expectations on timing, scope, and duration of the work. Most importantly, the quality of the finished work was outstanding. Highly recommend. 10/10. Peter and Voytek are the absolute best.

They take the time to thoroughly explain the options and provide a transparent and accurate quote up front, and they do excellent quality work for a very fair price. They have done many repairs for us over the years (stairs, re-caulking balcony, tuckpointing, re-sealing portions of the building) and recently (three years ago) did a complete tuckpoint/masonry repair/seal on our building, a three-story condominium. It is always a pleasure to work with them--they come when they say they are going to come, do the high quality work that they promise, and stand by their work after it is done! Would not hesitate to call them about any masonry issue. Very highly recommend Star!

I do not trust Bruno's work and will not hire them again. They tried to skirt out of a contract…read moreand also lied several times. They were under contract to spot tuck-point an entire wall but instead they only did the top of the wall and then claimed that the work was completed. When confronted about the rest of the wall, they repeatedly lied saying they did the entire wall and said that I was seeing shadows. Only after producing photos (I attached a few photos) of gaping holes did they grudgingly get back on the wall to complete the job. They said "ugh, I guess we missed a few spots" Unless you plan on babysitting them throughout the project, I do not recommend them.

They did some spot tuckpoint work at the top of the building but then used a vinegar spray to make it appear they had completed tuckpointing on the areas showing effervescence. The effervescence returned since they had not fixed any cracks in the mortar in those within a few months. We tried to work this out with them, but had to file a complaint with the better business bureau and now considering small claims court against them. I notice a review by Matty C on 8-3-20 that reports the same issue we had with them claiming to have done work and arguing with us despite the evidence of the building looking the exact same before and after.

The extra work was still done at a low cost, and they were very transparent about what was needed and why. The repair was quick, clean, and professionally handled. They added a bunch of roofing material to my roof hatch cut out making it much harder to fit the hatch on top of the opening. I had to end up cutting back a bunch of the extra roofing material to make it fit and hired a handyman to help me do that. They also left nails and garbage on the roof and in the backyard. They left a broken plastic tube that expels water from the furnace hanging over the side of the house where it was splashing onto us in the gangway. When I asked Nick on a Sunday to have someone come back and take a look at it he said someone would come look on Monday. I didn't hear from anyone until five days later on Saturday morning when Nick said he would come look at it. I told him I had already fixed it. To be clear, I think the tube got ripped in the storm damage, but they could have told me about it or at least not left it hanging over the side of the house if they weren't going to fix it. Communication was really bad too. They came out right before a downpour on a Monday and had to pause work in the middle of that. They were then going to come back the next day, but then told me later they would come back Friday. Nick told me his guy would come Friday morning possibly before 8am. I was surprised to have JR on my porch and calling me at 6:10am. I've never had a contractor show up that early and told him I couldn't disturb the 2nd floor tenants that early. JR said he would be back at 1pm. He came back at 8:55am instead without explanation and expected to be let in. When Nick and company failed to show up to address the plastic tubing situation, he said he felt bad and wanted to make it up to me. I told him he could send me back $100 for my time and effort addressing issues related to the roof job. I spent 2-3 hours of my time addressing roof issues (tubing and roof hatch), going to Menards, and spent money on a handyman. He has yet to reply and that was three days ago. The price was decent, but I very much feel like I got what I paid for and had to pay extra in both my time and money to remediate the project. I would not hire them again.
