I just had the Hands Down best Lasagana i have ever had... BTW im 58. The noodles were hand made and very light. The meat was cooked to perfection. And the sauce ... OMG the sauce.. Mario's - Best restruant ever - Italian Near Me - Bronx, New York

The absolutely perfect restaurant for Italian. Spend the time to get to the Bronx! Service, food, and experience was one of the best!!!

Food was very good. Had the classics, lasagna, eggplant parm, chicken parm but no bread brought to the table and although the waiter said he was bringing fresh cheese to sprinkle on top ,it was never brought. Have to say though, the stuffed artichokes and breaded clams to start we to die for. read more

The customer service here is AMAZING!! The food was amazing and the server gave great recommendations. 10/10 experience. I definitely recommend this place. Especially if you value exceptional customer service :) read more

Mario's - Alla Vodka, meatball - Italian Near Me - Bronx, New York

We came to New York for a wedding and it was highly recommended to come here. We were not disappointed! We started the meal with calamari and pizza for appetizers. The pizza was one of the best I've ever had. I ordered the cappatelli mariana baked, my boyfriend got the lobster raviolli (which was bomb as well), and his step mom & dad both got the capatelli as well but added meat balls! So good, fresh & just great Italian food... They finished the meal off with 2 complimentary desserts.. WOW. The service here is just incredible. Will definitely be back! read more

Mario's - Capatelli was incredible with the Mariana sauce and baked! Great texture & flavor! Xoxo - Italian Near Me - Bronx, New York

Worst owners and worst restaurant on Arthur Avenue. Everyone was incredibly rude and arrogant from the woman at the door when I checked in up until the owner when I asked to speak with him regarding a discrepancy of being overcharged. After ordering a salad and requesting to add grilled shrimp to it, I was charged the full price of ordering a shrimp entree. My friend added salmon to her salad and was charged the full price of a salmon entree. The owner said "Well you ate it, didn't you? So what's the problem?" Completely unacceptable. Not only did they not politely handle the situation, they did not offer any sort of credit or discount. They will never have my business again. Telling all of my friends never to go back again. Emilia's and Zero Otto Nove are all better options. I have never been to a restaurant with such poor customer service or such little regard for the importance of treating your customers the way they deserve to be treated. read more

My friend and I came in here with high expectations and left pretty disappointed. We got our order to go. I got the fettucini which was very plain. I've had more tasteful pasta at Olive Garden. She got the salad which was pretty flavorful, but they also forgot to include her pasta (and we didn't have the energy to drive back and pick it up!). They gave us a good amount of sesame seed bread which was tasty-probably the best thing out of our food order! read more

This restaurant was recommended by a good friend and it didn't disappoint. My sister and I were promptly seated. There was so much to choose from on the menu. We chose escargot and clams oreganata. For our entree she had the osso bucco and I had the veal over spinach and a side of string beans. Everything was delicious and were treated to conversation with the 5th generation owner (Regina). She spoke to us like family. The rest of the staff were also friendly and very attentive. Our dessert was Tiramisu and it was to die for. I will definitely be returning and recommending my family and friends. Thank you for such a wonderful evening. read more

The food was good and the service was ok. But I don't recommend anyone to come to this place because the server was being aggressive about tip. Manuel tried to stop us from leaving the restaurant until we left enough tip that he wants. I understand tip is important but it is optional and ther server should be grateful that we tip. My first time visiting this place and I got rob by the server. read more

The food was not good. The gnocchi was not smooth, the ravioli was tasteless, the Caesar salad was drenched in dressing to a point where there was no crisp to the salad and it as overwhelmingly salty. A waste of $80. Never again. read more

This was the first time trying a restaurant in the Little Italy of the Bronx. We were late for our reservation due to a misplaced phone, but they were not that busy and sat us right away. We were greeted warmly and the staff was very attentive. Large menu with many options. Since there were three of us, we decided to order one appetizer and three main courses that we would all taste and share. The appetizer was an order of a dozen clams. The clams were large and looked great but they had no flavor whatsoever. We moved on to the three entrees. One was Shrimp Scampi, one was lamb shank and one was chicken Schiaparelli. We tasted the lamb shank first. It was cooked well but came in a watery, brown liquid. I make this at home and have had it in restaurants and it is usually in a thin, red gravy and very flavorful. It was served over pasta at my request instead of rice. It had no taste at all....we each took a taste and left the rest. We next tried the shrimp scampi . The shrimp were overcooked and tough and except for each of us tasting one, the rest were left on the dish. The last test was the Chicken. One of my friends said that was the best dish, but the other friend said the bread was the best dish. All in all, we did not leave hungry, but neither did we leave feeling happy with our dinner or satisfied. We all agreed we would never go back. You would think that staff would notice how much food was left and ask about it but they did not. We were very surprised as this restaurant had such good ratings on line. Prices were comparable to other Italian restaurants, but quality of preparation was lacking. Very disappointing. read more

Mario is a family owned authentic Italian restaurant. We had a large group and when we arrived at the time of our reservations they were ready. They started us off with a basket full of delicious warm bread with butter and olive oil on the side. Next it was time to place our order for drinks. I ordered the tropical martini which was prepared to perfection. For my appetizer I hesitated to order the pizza because I'm watching my weight hopefully go done verses up but I ordered the pizza anyway and I shared it. I love pizza and of course I was not disappointed with the nice thin crispy crust. Next I ordered the Gamberetti Fra Diavolo which was seasoned really well and went well with the side of pasta. You can't visit an Italian restaurant without topping off your meal with a hot cappuccino and thats exactly what I did. Overall I had a fantastic time - the food and drinks were great and the restaurant was clean. read more

Mario's has been around for 100 years. There really isnt much else that needs to be said. Great food and tremendous service. Regina does an unbelievable job of bringing a family feel to the restaurant. My recommendation get some pizza and calamari for apps. Then order 4/5 different entrees to try a little bit of everything. Do yourself a favor and enjoy this amazing place. Rest in peace Joe Migliucci your legacy will never die. read more

Solid Italian food on Arthur Ave, not sure if it lives up to the hype, but how could it? 100 yrs of operation and history. Yelp gave us a coupon for a free glass of house chardonnay which was great, thanks yelp and Mario's, service was great, and we enjoyed learning about the history. Check out the photos, everyone in NY has eaten here it seems. Oh, the food portions are enormous. It's really family sharing plate size, we could have ordered 2 plates and shared for the 5 of us and not finished it. So if quantity and leftovers are important (value for $ paid) this is easily 4 or 5 star rating. read more

The only reason I gace it 5 stars was that yelp doesn't have 6 stars !! i stopped in for a light dinner 2 weeks ago and as always the food was just incredible. The linguine with clam sauce as cooked perfectly and was flavorful from the first bite to the last. It is truly AMAZING that any restaurant can produce food this good consistently for so many years but I would expect no less from Mario's. Awesome food, polite and courteous wait staff and everything came out of the kitchen piping hot. it truly is the classiest restaurant in NYC read more

Service was superb from beginning to the end. Staff is extremely attentive without being intruding. Food was excellent from the complimentary spiced carrots and bread , to the main course. This was our first visit but definitely not our last. It's well worth the hour drive from CT and free valet parking was an added perk. Ambiance was nice, romantic but still family family. read more

I recently had the chance to visit Mario's on a food tour. This place is the real deal -- an Italian restaurant of Old NY. While everything was amazing, I'm writing this review to reflect on the pizza. The photo in Wikipedia next to "New York Pizza" should be changed to a picture of a Mario's slice. As a NY pizza snob, I believe this is the quintessential NY slice. The crust is so thin and crispy, yet folds easy for eating without breaking in two. The end crust isn't something just to hold into, it is an experience in itself. The pizza has the perfect amount of toppings -- a delicious, herb-filled, not too sweet sauce and real mozzarella. It was love at first bite. read more

Never disappointed during the two times I went here! This place is awesome. This time I dined indoors. Live music and clean place! Again, very good service! The food was very delicious! If you want to visit Little Italy (Arthur Avenue not Mulberry Street) I totally recommend this place! read more

Best in the Bronx The pizza man has been making pies here since he was 14 and doesn't seem to be leaving anytime soon . And why should he? He's likely making the best in the Bronx. Like Totonno's of Brooklyn, it's nearly impossible to compete with their level of greatness. The crisp, yet pliable crust takes all, but the salty sauce and transforming flavors come at you as you bite through the cheese. This pie hits all the right cylinders. They removed the coal oven decades ago, but the crust remains as one of the city's best. It's incomparable to any other pizza maker's. Unfortunately it's not explicitly offered on the menu and therefore discouraged because of the low per-person price. It's better to order one at lunch time when the restaurant isn't busy and not as the individual pizza on the menu. Whichever path you take to get past the gatekeepers, you'll probably find it not only to your satisfaction, but among the ultimate elite in NYC . Opened: 1919 Distinction: King of Arthur Ave. Pizza not on the menu. read more

Awesome food, awesome host. An Arthur Ave mainstay, that is a must try. The heated tent, the authentic food, the superior service, and the warmth of the owner Regina, made our experience memorable. We will definitely be coming back, and so should you. There are so many reasons why Mario's has been around for over 100 years! We knew from the moment we sat down on a rainy beginning of January 2021 night, when they started us off with warm, fresh baked bread, that we were at the right place, and this was going to be a great night. We have been to enough restaurants on the Avenue to know Mario's is a real contender! They really know what they are doing. read more

I came to Mario's with two friends. The hostess was very friendly and sat us even though our whole group wasn't all here. She chatted with us for a few minutes which was nice. A bus boy came over quickly with water and bread for the table. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. The food was very good! Somewhat on the plain side but very tasty. I got the chicken a la Mario which was chicken parm but with a layer of ricotta. Highly recommend! I ended the night with an espresso martini which unfortunately was just eh. Overall, a very good dinner. Will be back! read more

Decided to check out Mario's Restaurant after reading such great reviews from yelp. Low-key, comfortable vibe. I will have to remember to get Fried Calamari again next time I go to Mario's Restaurant. The staff were very professional and helpful. Mario's Restaurant I hate to like you. read more

Mario's Restaurant you are simply fantastic, I had a wonderful experience here today. It's kind of the place to go in this neighborhood. The good news: attentive service, delicious and plentiful fresh bread, generous food portions, the wine list included good by-the-glass choices. Free parking, with validated ticket, in a lot about 1 1/2 blocks away. The restaurant made it easy to share dishes (we were a group of five). The mediocre news: fried calamari was made from large pieces of squid that were a little rubbery. Caesar salad was over-dressed and so arrived a little wilted. The main course specials were not very special after all, and we wished we'd kept to the regular menu for our entrees. Shrimp parmesan was the best of our entrees. The much-praised cappuccino comes in a tall cup, pre-sweetened, and with a cap of whipped cream. Desserts were okay. Mario's food didn't wow us; there are better choices on Arthur Avenue. read more

I was very disappointed with my meal. The restaurant was lovely and the service was excellent. The chicken parmagian was not good. The chicken tasted rubbery. Someone else said it was grizzly. The salad also did not seem very fresh. The dessert, Tartuffo? , was good. I would not return. read more

I know this place is an Arthur Ave institution and you gotta take it for what it is -- a hustle bustle kinda place that churns out solid food without much flair or attention to detail. So when I went the other night, both my friend and I didn't have the highest of hopes, but were still turned off by their lack of attention. Maybe because we were a table of 2 on a Saturday night, and were surrounded by tables of 6 or more (= higher bill) but our waiter took 20 minutes to even come over to us and take a drink order. When we did finally get his attention, he completely rushed us and seemed annoyed that we asked a few questions about the specials (not all of them included a description). I wasn't expecting the meal of my life here, and our rigatoni a la vodka and shrimp oreganata were solid, but zero thought was put into presentation. To top it all off, our waiter literally threw the check on our table as he walked by and then had the gall to come back and tell me he preferred the tip in cash if we didn't mind. !!!???? Who does that?! We left full, but unimpressed. I'd definitely look for a quieter spot with less fanfare and better customer service next time I'm in the neighborhood. Especially if we aren't a big group. read more

I tried the lobster ravioli, a salmon dish, and Chicken Scarpariello... seriously amazing. The waiter was great, our Josh Cabernet Sauvignon was a perfect addition to the night.
