Sent Mario's a complaint about dissatisfaction with a product this was the response: hello, I'm sorry you were dis satisfied and found your honey balls dry. We did not skimp on the honey to save money, that is simply not how we conduct business and thankfully Marios is not affected by the economy and find ourselves busy all the time. We made over 500 trays of honey balls for the Christmas and new years holiday & made them 5 days per week. This is the only complaint I have received and I took two home myself and did not find them dry. They are done in a large batch in a large bowl all mixed together in honey and then put in each tin. I apologize if for some reason your batch had a little less or you found them a bit dry. It is certainly not our intention to ruin any ones holiday treat. Linda Hill read more

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE !!!!! I placed an order with the bakery for a birthday cake for my great grandmothers birthday which cost me $ 600 !! Two days before the party that I had paid $38,000 for at the coral house I went to bakery to pay the balance for the cake and they make a mistake and over charged me, okay simple mistake but when I went back to the bakery to resolve this issue thats when the horrible customer service began. They did not apologize for their mistake and basically acted as if it was no big deal at all ! Then while in the bakery I got an alert on my phone that there was another deduction from my account so I asked the girl at the account what was going on and she walked away while I was in mid sentence waving her hands ( which i felt was extremely rude being so that I was a customer that was faulted) and went and got the manager LOU . He then explained to me that they refunded the entire amount charged and then recharged the correct amount, I began to then tell him that it takes 3-5 days for me to see that refund and how come the difference of what I was owed couldn't just be refunded to me , He got extremely upset and began to yell about what else do I want him to do( I was extremely taken away and appalled at the way he would speak to a customer who had no faults and caught a mistake that the bakery made). Next on the day of the party I received a text message from their delivery person of what the cake looked like and I was MORTIFIED !!!! The cake that was at the coral house was a black and white bumble bee looking cake that I did not order !!!!!! I then called Lou and he said oh its no big deal I will give you a $100 dollar refund for the mistake, no way would that be acceptable to me after I paid $600 dollars for a all white cake with gold accents. He then went and took the cake back to the bakery and told me that 1 hr before the party start time that I could come and view the cake so I went as he told me I could. When I got there he was irate and began to yell at me like a crazy man and threaten to destroy the cake and that I wouldn't have a cake for my party So I left and arranged with the corral house to have pastries and ice cream served since it would be impossible to bake a new cake for for 220 people in an hr so I figured there would be no cake. I left the bakery after being yelled at by THE MANAGER and once I got to the party I saw that the bakery delivered the exact cake from before only that he ripped off the black fondant and replaced it with butter cream which was too soft to hold the flowers so they had all fallen off and were on the table which held the cake, MY Family knew the situation that I had been put through so we left the cake to the corner and continued on with the party. My family or myself could not trust the bakery or the cake because what bakery could bake , decorate and deliver a brand new cake in under an hr so no one ate it. I am a completely understanding person that mistakes do occur but I CAN NEVER understand being treated as horrible as I was as a paying customer. Also I order a sheet cake that was supposed to be held in the kitchen and the manager of the coral house told me that it never arrived WHICH I PAID for !!!! I will never order from them again they caused a lot of un necessary stress and headaches and I don't believe they can handle the size order that I required. I will say that their pastries and SMALL cakes are great but never again will I trust them with this type of responsibility. I will go to some one else who has better customer service skills and knows how to treat people !!!! read more

I was recommend by my sister in law to use this bakery. It was my first time dealing with them and my last!! I paid in full for a speciality cake to be delivered to my fiancé's 30th birthday. Paid for the delivery fee and even received a confirmation in the morning (due to bad weather we were having that day). Long story short my cake was never delivered! Tried to contact them but they had already closed! They called me the next day only to make me seem as a liar! The owner stated there was a misunderstanding. Apparently, I told them I was picking up the cake! So why did I pay for delivery charge?!? Not once did they apologize!!! If In fact, I stated I was picking it up... Why didn't you call me before you closed? To ask me if I was coming for the cake that I spent almost $300 for?!? Their story didn't make any sense. Never again. read more

So disappointed with the cake they made for my baby's 1st birthday. The cake slid halfway off of the tray, they didn't write happy birthday on the cake like I requested (it was written on the tray) and they wrote the wrong name on it! I will never come back here again. read more

I LOVE MARIO'S!!! They have made cakes for my family, from mine and my husband's graduation cakes to our daughters PTA pie sale and her birthday parties. Not only are their cakes DELICIOUS, but their ability to manipulate and decorate cakes are AMAZING. They have done everything from making graduations scrolls and caps, Barbie cakes decorated as Mulan to match my daughter's costumes, to their most recent three layer cake of chocolate cake with chocolate moose, white cake with chocolate fudge and raspberry jam and tri-color cake designed by my daughter to coincide with her Alice in wonderland themed sweet 15 (IT WAS AMAZING). They have always done an awesome job and as the previous writers stated their pastries are to delicious too. Mario's bakery is truly the BEST!!! read more

We just love Mario's Bakery!! Their breads are also delicious. Mario's is consistently good. Their pies and cakes are great. Their cookies, both the Italian and butter cookies are terrific. I buy the canoli shells and the filling; but sometunes I cheat and I fill the canoli shells with ice creams and it is also great. read more

Best Cakes Ever, and inexpensive . I used to go to Riesterer's In West Hempstead which is still on top but if you ever need something special or if you see something online Mario's will deliver and like I said the prices are right and even the cakes they have made are good, the cupcakes are to died for and they make great Tres Leche cakes unlike other barkers like La Sevillana who have old cakes and just add milk to make seem fresh but really isn't and sevillana only carry one type of cake so idk why they are called a bakery but anyways Marios is a must Have. read more

I went to Mario's to get a cake for my mom's birthday party- the order process was easy and the girl was very patient and sweet while waiting for me to select my cake. She was also very helpful in suggestions as I got overwhelmed with all the cake options. The cake turned out better than I thought, and completely exceeded my expectations. it was gorgeous and of course, tasted amazing (it was 1/2 chocolate 1/2 red velvet). All our guests at the party were impressed with the cake and kept asking where I'd gotten it from! So pleased! I will definitely recommend Mario's to everyone! read more

We have been going to Mario's for cakes and pastries for many many years. However this year the cakes have been horrible. Something has changed and it not for the better. The cakes are so dry and tasteless. We went in April for a special order cake and got a full store credit then ordered two more special order cakes this weekend and again so very dry like paper. Never again will I go there for cakes. I am truly disappointed and hope that they can get there old recipe or baker back. The owner or manager is not a nice person and is very short and rude to people. He needs to go. I will take my business elsewhere. read more

I have never posted a negative review of a local small business before, but I was so disgusted with this bakery that I feel obligated to do so. I ordered a cake for my daughter's 8th birthday party from them and it was truly the worst experience ever. They asked me what time I would like to pick it up and I said 10 am, which the girl who took the order said was NO PROBLEM. So when we showed up a little after 10 (with a car full of girls headed to the party), an extremely rude man, whom I assume is the manager or owner, was at the counter and said the cake was not ready and would not be ready for 45 minutes! The bakery was full of other people there to pick up cakes and they were all angry that their cakes were not ready either. What was so shocking was that instead of being conciliatory or apologetic in any way, he became ever more rude and belligerent, and even threatened one of the other customers by saying "I will smash your cake and then you'll have no cake for your party!" and "You're lucky you're older than me!" What kind of insane customer service is that?! So I finally get my cake, for which they charged me $55, and it was only a small sheet cake to feed 20 people. Just to add insult to injury, this was the WORST cake I have ever had. It was dry and disgusting. All of the kids handed it back to me saying "I don't like it", and none of the adult guests took more than a couple of bites of theirs. I've gotten much better cakes at my local supermarket bakery for half the price and none of the aggravation!!! read more
