Based on the reviews, I was worried it wouldn't be any good but honestly? I was so wrong. The super cheesy is one of the best pizzas I've had in a while. Marion's has been great over this past pandemic year with! Easy to order and get curbside pickup (Though I know this has changed now) and their pizza is the best! No other pizza tastes like Marion's. We drive 40 minutes to get there and 40 minutes back and it's definitely worth it. It has been a real treat and will continue to be! I appreciate the fact that you can get a gluten-free pizza crust, and I think the prices on the pizzas are very reasonable. Cassano's is better. There, I said it and I'm not sorry. A friend who hails from Dayton said this was the best pizza so I had to try it. I picked up a pizza on my way home from Dayton. I will say the restaurant is interesting. Very big and private dining areas which let me know it's good for parties. It looked almost like a pizza cafeteria. The customer service for picking up was exceptional, everyone was very nice and I was offered parm, crushed red pepper, and plates. The pizza sucked. The crust was cardboard-esque and the sauce was very generic. Also didn't know the squares could get so small. I paid almost $20 for a medium sized pizza but the quality just wasn't there for me. I would have probably enjoyed a Totinos' frozen pizza more. Heck, Chuck-E's might have better pizza. Won't be back...sorry. read more

Out of the norm pizza and it's great!!!! Who doesn't like their pizza in bite size pieces!? This location is huge and there's plenty of room for everyone so bring everyone!! There is an outstanding beer selection where you can get about anything you want. There is a a few on tap. I always, always enjoy my visits to Marion's. The manager here is a damn bully. He disobeys the law. He single handedly spoiled Marion's for me and I had been a fan for more that 20 years. The food was terrible: the pizzas were soggy and had no flavor. I usually love their sausage pizza, but not today! The supreme I had tasted like moldy gym socks (or so I imagine, never having actually eaten gym socks...). The garlic bread with cheese was hard and burnt beyond recognition. Marion's was a staple during my time as a student at U of Dayton. I was excited when they built the location here in Cincy a few years back, but have found I don't visit as often as I had anticipated. Marion's is good, and satisfies a particular pizza craving. If you are looking for a doughy pizza with lots of melty, stringy cheese, then you'll want to look elsewhere. With that being said, Marion's still has something good going on. The crust is thin and crunchy, almost cracker like. You'll never find yourself wanting more toppings, they've got you covered end to end. My husband and I always share a large (14in) and can finish the entire thing...maybe we are being glutinous? ;-) The pieces are cut in squares that are never uniform, and often bite size, which I love. I'm not a big sausage fan, pizza or otherwise, but I actually love the sausage here. It's not very spicy and is grated up super small; no large chunks. You can also order side salads and they have a few sandwiches, but you can't go wrong sticking with the pizza. When you order, there is one counter for food and a separate counter for drinks. You pay separately for each. Drink options are pretty wide. There is a refrigerator wall with bottles and cans of pop, as well as a decent beer selection. They also have a few beers on draft. You can order soft drinks by the glass (no refills), but I'd suggest paying the $3.99 to get a pitcher if enough people want the same thing because the glasses are small. There is a ton of seating, including an outside courtyard which is hidden if you don't know what you are looking for. To get to the courtyard from inside, you'll want to walk past the drink counter towards the refrigerator wall and restrooms and then you'll see the door. The indoor space is great for parties. Every time we go, there is at least one in the main dining area. They also have a separate, fairly sizable party room that can be reserved. The other unique thing at Marion's is they have a small game room to the right of the food counter. There are about 10 arcade type games; skee ball, video games, claw games, etc. Ages 7+ can be in the room. Marion's also has a pretty unique decor. Among the yellow walls are some painted murals to make seem like you are looking out onto the streets of Italy, and the carpet...well, I'll just let you go and see for yourself ;-) When you've finished your meal, you can leave everything on the table. The staff will bus it for you after you have left. Marion's gets four stars from me because it's a great family place, always clean, and has friendly staff. The pizza is tasty, but since I'm a pizza dough loving girl it's not my number one go to pizza joint. read more

We moved to Mason 2 1/2 years ago and live very close to Marions. We never tried it because every time we drive by the parking lot always looks empty. Finally decide to order a pizza. It was just ok. Came here for my nieces birthday party. And the good that I can say about this place is that they have big open spaces and party rooms that seem to accommodate parties quite well. I've seen this place from a far a lot in the past couple of years and I've wanted to try it. I'm always up for trying a new interesting pizza place. The pizza here..honestly..it tastes like the kind of pizza you get out of the frozen food section of the grocery store. I'm not exaggerating, that's exactly how it tastes. And not even the better frozen pizzas. There is noting unique or interesting about it. They cut it up into such small pieces too that it's kind of annoying. Can't comment on the service here as I really didn't deal with anyone one on one. I can say that my sister and brother in law seemed to be really satisfied with the experience so I'm assuming it was pretty good. We tried this place and it was really good. Very different than most places where they just had a thin crust, but it was really good. It is unclear when you walk in but you are supposed to go up to the counter and order your food before you sit down. Then you have to go to another counter to order your drinks. It was fine - not amazing pizza. Just okay pizza. I just can't get truly behind a pizza that has canned toppings. Seriously, it's not that hard to cut some mushrooms, onions and peppers. It didn't taste like anything. Very bland. And the whole line system doesn't make sense. It's just a jumbled mess and 2 too many steps. We recently moved to the area and several people had recommended Marion's so we gave it a try on a Friday night. It was busy. Not crowded but busy enough that we had to wait over 30 min. from placing the food order to our number being called. Glad we decided on a pitcher to pass the time. While waiting, I could not shake the feeling that we were in a set for Stranger Things and a demagorgon would bust in at any minute. It literally feels like you're back in the late 70s. The pizza tasted like Totinos. The little bits of sausage looked like maggots. Mushrooms were clearly out of a can. No parm or red pepper in sight. Garden salad was straight bagged lettuce, no cheese, tomatoes, anything. What a waste of a Friday night, we def won't be back. I did not grow up in Dayton so I did not experience Marion's until a couple years ago. I love this establishment because of its employees as well as the food. My favorite choice is the sausage and pepperoni. The sausage is ground up real thin which gets crispy in the oven. It is weird that you get your drinks at a separate counter but its not that big of a deal. They do have an arcade which the Kids love and allow adults some quiet time. read more

Have to say....first time trying, but among the worst pizza I have had the misfortune of trying/eating. Where to begin? They don't use a pizza sauce. They spread tomato "paste" on crust. Great place for sports team parties because it is huge and can accommodate large groups. I think the pizza is just ok and a bit on the expensive side. If you have a large group give it a try, but if it is just you and the kids there are better pizza options. They do accept credit cards which is different from the Marion's in Dayton which back in the day only took cash. read more

I collected the boxes and was about to leave when one of the employees ran after. He made us new pizzas to replace the ones dropped by my son. That was so nice. We will definitely be back. We tried this location two times; once when they opened and just recently. I just don't like their pizza at all. It's very bland, and the toppings don't taste very good. We ordered two large pizzas, one with 1 topping, and another with 4 toppings and it was $40+! The drinks are not free refills, although they sell large pitchers of soda for around $5. People with children seem to like coming here as they have an arcade in the rear. Many people seem to really like this Dayton chain, and their pizza. First time I went to Marion's was close to 15 years ago. I was in the area today and decided to stop in again. The decor looked exactly the same. Very dated interior that I think is supposed to be like dining outdoors. Tropical print type carpeting, fake trees, and lamp posts. Despite the dated decor it was clean and well kept. It's a very big place but this evening about 2/3 of the dining areas were blocked off. Staff was friendly. I ordered a small 9" pepperoni pizza and soda. The pizza was ok. I would say the thin crispy crust was the best part. I also like how they cut the pizza into tiny squares. The pepperoni was also good and crispy. The flavor of the pizza was pretty bland though, just not much flavor from the sauce or cheese. Overall it wasn't bad, it was just average. read more

We tried Marion's Piazza this evening and we won't be going back. The pizza is thin crusted and very cheaply made. The dough is pre-made and you get a sprinkling of cheese and sauce (that you cannot taste) as well as whatever toppings you order. The pizza was way over priced for the quality and somewhat bland in taste. This place is like a Movie Theatre concessions atmosphere combined with a Chucky Cheese atmosphere. You can literally buy all sorts of movie theatre style candy (Raisinettes, Goobers etc.) while you go through the food line like at a movie theatre concession stand. Drinks are ordered separately at a totally different counter and they are priced just like at a movie theatre! The place is loud with tons of people sitting around cafeteria style. My wife commented that we could have went to Longhorn Steakhouse for the exact same money we spent here to feed four people. We were just looking for a quick bite before a movie and thought why not try it. I was overwhelmed the second I walked in the door, I mean this place is HUGE. It also includes a game room, which I'm sure for kids is great but oh my...it's THAT type of place. First, there was no direction in how to order. There are 3 different stations - a bar, a carryout, and a dine in. You had to order from one line, then stand in another to get a drink. Seems a little disorganzied to me, and time consuming. The menu seemed pretty simple and we wanted to try the Hoagy's versus the pizza, which maybe this was our mistake for not getting what they are supposedly known for but how hard is it to make a hoagy? Apparently super hard. I got the meatball hoagy and the boyfriend got the steak hoagy. We unwrapped the paper wrapping and I have never been so dissapointed in my life. It didn't even seem like real meat. Not that I was expecting a gourmet cooked dish from the place but would it kill ya to use real ground beef? The meatballs (if you can call them that) had a grey tint to them and were thinly sliced vs being round meatballs. The steak hoagy was just a frozen patty and the sauce was awful. I came here once for lunch soon after it first opened and was not impressed, but my friend from Middletown loved it, so I thought I should return some day, which my wife and I did - with a 25% off coupon - this evening. This time I had a small (9") Super Cheese Pizza ($11 before coupon), which comes with pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, onions, and green pepper. Crust is like Donato's, which I like. Pizza sauce was more like a weak spaghetti sauce. Toppings were bland and - other than the pepperoni and canned mushroom pieces - were chopped into very small pieces - strange, but I guess that's how "northerners" (i.e., Dayton natives) like their pizza. However, I was raised in the Cincinnati area, so this was barely a tolerable pizza. My wife had a Meatball sandwich ($7) with mozzarella ($0.75). Meatballs were sliced and bland - frozen meatballs have more flavor. The sauce was the same weak pizza sauce. The bun was a soggy mess. The extra cost mozzarella was almost nonexistent. My wife ate less than a third of her sandwich. We each had a large (24 oz) drink for $1.49 each plus tax and no free refills. They have both Coke and Pepsi fountain drinks, which is rare. As others have said, service is walk up to order and pay for your food, go to the drink counter to buy your drinks, take a seat in the "dining hall", and wait for your number to be called. Total bill was $20 after coupon, so I spent 20 bucks on a learning experience. I learned to trust Yelp reviews and stay away from places like this. read more

This is definitely one of the happening places in town, and there always seems to be a crowd. Came here with my family to check it out. It was packed on a Thursday night at 6pm. We tried the pizza and salad. The salad was pretty bad. It tasted like it came out of a package and the Italian dressing was too sour. The pizza was ok but not great for the price. I had green peppers, mushrooms, and banana peppers on mine, and everything tasted fresh. I would say that it could have used a little more sauce, but overall the pizza was decent. It was kind of annoying that you have to wait in a separate line for drinks, and they don't give refills on soda which I find crazy for a casual pizza place. There were definitely a lot of children here -- people hosting a birthday party in the back, kids running around screaming. This place seems like an ok place to have a family dinner with mediocre food, but I don't think I'll be back anytime soon. read more

As I read the comments comparing this to Larosa's, which generally would be considered the absolute worst pizza on the planet, it makes me realize that many people have no idea what pizza is supposed to be... especially when they compare it to NY style pizza (which, btw, Dewey's is NOT lol). I do feel bad they built quite a palace here and despite following the Field of Dreams mantra of "if you build it, they will come", their recipe has failed miserably here in Mason. The huge restaurant is almost always completely empty while next door BW3s has a wait for their below average food. Whether it is just the self-serve model or the deplorable pizza, this just isn't working. Let me start off by saying I'm a fan of thin crust pizza. This place definitely has it. My party shared a 13" pizza with pepperoni, bacon, and extra cheese - pizza was pretty good, I thought. Toppings edge to edge! Garlic bread with cheese was delicious - a sub roll split in half and smothered with cheese for $1.75, not bad! Pretty limited on toppings - I would've liked to see a buffalo chicken pizza, or even the option to add jalapenos or pineapple to a pizza. I was not a fan of the ordering process. Food ordered in one line, drinks in another. As others have mentioned, refills are not free, but sodas are available in pitchers. $1.60 with tax for a 24oz drink is about normal. I have no sentimental connection to the Dayton area, so I wasn't sure what to expect when I came here. My conclusion, though, is that more people south of Dayton should give this place a chance. The pizza is good, but I think that what I enjoy the most is the unpretentious atmosphere. The cafeteria-style ordering is straightforward (really not a hassle), and the food comes out quickly. Also, the staff members are polite and efficient in removing plates from the table. For a local family dining experience, it's priced better than LaRosa's, and the food is more delicious. Unlike most places, everything that comes with olives on the menu includes a generous portion! (Fellow olive-lovers: I recommend the deluxe dinner salad and vegetarian pizza.) I'd eaten Marion's up in Dayton when I was a kid and I LOVED it. My cousins and I would run rough shod over the place like the little hellions we were while our folks sipped beers in the corner. Back then EVERY pizza was an amazing taste treat and Marion's was super special because it's very kid friendly. What a difference a few decades makes. This place is for the kids. Realize that going in and you'll be fine. The pies aren't really all that great. As other reviewers have noted, the buying your drinks and food separately is a huge annoyance. But it's huge with seating and parking for several baseball/soccer/pee wee football/etc. teams at once and they have a game room so you can throw a hand full of quarters at the kids and cut 'em loose. One exception... sour kraut on pizza. SOUR. KRAUT. ON PIZZA. It's amazing. This is one thing that they really do right here. We live in a town with DEEP German roots so why is nobody else doing this? The kraut is the PERFECT foil to the fatty meats you get on pizza. The acidity cuts through and lets more flavor hit you right in the tongue! I know, I know. it sounds gross but if you find yourself here to celebrate your nephew's birthday or after your daughter's soccer game or whatever get a pie for the adults that is loaded with some meats and sour kraut. Trust me. After you try this you'll be begging your local pizzeria to start carrying sour kraut as a topping which means you won't have to put up with Marion's to get it anymore. read more

I'm a Dayton transplant so being able to get Marion's anytime I want in mason is like being able to go back to Dayton anytime I want. I grew up on Marion's and I believe it's one of the best pizzas out there. It's the only pizza I will get with everything on it because it's just that good. Stopped by on a Saturday right before close after a day full of King's Island. I've been suffering from withdrawal after being out of Dayton for so long. I felt bad since it was just before close, so we ordered our large to go. Now, I won't say this is the best pizza in the world. But it's very unique and extremely addictive. Thin crackery crust, wall-to-wall toppings, and pieces the sizes of postage stamps. And whatever you do, please get the sausage - the tiny, ground up pebbles covering your pizza with just the right amount of spice. For those who don't understand the two lines, a brief explanation: this restaurant is based on the same exact style that they have always been (since the sixties). People who truly enjoy Marion's love it as a nostalgia thing - if it were to change, there would be riots all over Dayton. Just be glad they at least accept credit cards now... That only happened just within the past few years. I will say it's not for everyone. And it's not the greatest pizza ever. But I would definitely choose it over most others any day of the week. read more

Never heard of the place before. Evidently it is popular up north. The Good: The pizza was great. I love thin crust. Sauce was great. Had one Cheese and one Pep. The Bad: Everything else. The place was a mad house. Kids running wild like they were art BDubs with a lot less room to do so. Tables feel like they are packed in really tight. If I wanted out of my chair I was bumping the person behind me. The ordering is horrible. Separate lines for food and drink. Not only is this bad if you have kids but the place is getting charged twice for credit card transaction. Seem like a lose lose situation if you ask me.
