Clean room, comfortable bed, functional amenities eg there were USB ports where needed, bedside tables, places to hang things, Kuereg coffeemaker and acceptable internet access. So this place has pros and cons. The Pros: location, very clean, decent comfortable bed. It's been redone with newer flooring, bed, closet, etc. Friendly staff. The Cons: This place will be in trouble in a few years if they don't get on a regular maintenance schedule. One lightbulb was burned out upon arrival. Not a big deal, but a suggestion would be for cleaning staff to have a checklist and give to maintenance maybe daily or weekly when they observe lightbulbs burned out, mold, rusted rods as I observed in my room. The air unit was old and noisy, but it worked. I wonder with the lack of maintenance the true air quality in these rooms, as well. I do want to see this place succeed and would stay again, but in a few years, it would be a hard NO if lack of maintenance made this place decline further. read more

This hotel from the outside I thought at first was a bit suspect. I checked in alone last minute cause I was meeting friends close by and didn't want to spend $300+ a night. The rating said "wonderful" which is better than good! I was pleasantly surprised. Location was amazing. It's on the old St Augustine side which I've never stayed but it's just one street away from everything and it's across the street from the marina and the main bridge. The room was spectacular, super clean and modern. Lights on the ceiling made a huge difference than just a hotel room. Gave it a unexpected flare. For the price, you can't beat it. I'd totally stay here again! Customer service was good too. Free parking is very hard to find in St Augustine hotels so that's a huge plus and savings. You can park and not touch your car the entire stay. It is pet friendly which I don't mind but so there's a lot of barking. It's not the quietest hotel with the door to the street and it was a busy weekend. That's to be of expected. If your looking for affordable in the heart of the action, yet clean and modern, this is a great place. read more

Bedbug bites hurt and they are itchy. Unfortunately, the pain and itching occur usually days after the bites, long after you've checked out of your fleabag motel. Bedbugs are very hard to see because they're expert hiders. We had them in room number 125 at the Marion Motor Lodge. We could tell by the scat, the tiny exoskeletons, and the tiny blood spots here and there. The most telling, however, were the bites in a row on my wife's back. Look it up. These are all classic bedbug signs. The worst part is that the owner made no apology or concession. After infestation, you have to bring your belongings home in an airtight container and wash everything or try to kill them with lavender or other such remedies. If you don't, there is a good chance you will infest your own home. Terribly inconvenient at best. painful bites at worst. Don't stay here, especially not in room #125. If one room has bedbugs it is a pretty good bet that they all do. read more

11/25-11/27/19 I was pleasantly surprised by the Marion Motor Lodge. I expected a typical motor lodge. Instead I found a beautiful updated hotel right across the street from the waterfront. Mac checked me in and was very pleasant. I got a room on the ground floor which is what I wanted so I would not have to lug my luggage up the stairs. Parking is included which is great for this area. The room was nicely decorated and very clean. There is a Keurig coffee maker, mini fridge, and microwave in the room. The only downside is the air conditioner. It is a wall unit and that does not really cool the room unless you said it to a very low temperature. Still, I enjoyed it so much here that I stayed for an extra night! This hotel is great. I travel with my French bulldog and husband. They were very accommodating to me and even changed my room for a better water view. The parking lot is medium sized, rooms are very nice and organized. Great front porch sitting area. Great inside recliners and bed. Nice bathroom layout. It is old building so lots of age showing. Would give zero stars but that is not an option. We just checked out 12/11/21. Our room's A/C was not working. When we pulled down our the blankets on our beds we discovered debris on each bed, hair and pubic hair! The management was less than interested in refunding any of the 423.00 we ended up paying. They blamed us for not calling someone right away, but it was very late when we noticed. It was absolutely disgusting and we couldn't get out quick enough. The floors were not swept, as there was debris all over those as well, along with a jewelry clasp. Just gross! Stay far, far away. Such a great place, I was hesitant to book a Motor Lodge but with St Augustine being sold out we took a chance based on pictures online. Location is great, a short walk to St George St and Castillo de San Marco. Booked a room with 2 queens and the room was very clean and comfortable. Linens and beds were comfortable and cozy. The only negative which isn't the the lodges's fault was we had a 1st floor room and whoever was upstairs came in late and was a very heavy walker which woke us. I would recommend an upstairs room if you are a light sleeper or bring earplugs. read more

This place is very classy, remodeled and ideally located next to a joint where you can get shrimp, grouper, and nostalgia from the Eagles cover band. I have stayed here three times. I like the corner room b/c it has a big window facing the bridge and port. But that room is smaller. Other rooms also have windows to the port. Just not as close. Look at the price on this hotel. Then look up The Inn at Camachee Harbor. My bet is that The Inn is priced slightly less. And also, it has balconies. Aim for Unit 21. You'll save money and wave to the yachts. read more

The staff was probably the best part of our stay! Christa and Mandy were super friendly and ALWAYS helpful. If we had an issue or a question they were both on top of it IMMEDIATELY. The room was perfect, and the bed was so comfy. The pool was clean and open for the entire day. The hotel looks like it's had a recent update, and was super clean. We were right on the edge of the historic district, so not a lot of foot traffic or noise near us from people coming and going, but only a 2 minute walk to be right in the middle of everything! If I absolutely HAD to offer a negative it would not be about the hotel itself... There's was nothing to not like about this place. The only thing I can say is to be sure to pack your ibuprofen and your panties if you don't want to get back in your car during your stay. For some reason you can't buy most necessities in the historic district. If you don't mind driving, then the hotel is a great place to stay out of traffic and get everything you need within a few minutes. read more

Kind of had mixed feelings here for a bit last night. When we first checked in, I thought to myself that the room looked exactly like the photos, which it did since it looks like it was newly renovated. The shower itself in the deluxe king room was super small though, just enough room for one person. It was a nice shower though. They have a dispenser with shampoo/conditioner/body wash in the shower and one by the sink with lotion/hand soap. They also give makeup remover wipes. We only stayed one night and almost contemplated extending our stay because we loved downtown so much the first night. Unfortunately, we both had a little trouble sleeping; me because the bed was very firm and not comfortable for my pregnant belly and I actually woke up sweating a few times. One time my husband was up as well because the wall unit for the air was super loud and he had it set on 74 which kept going on and off; it definitely wasn't 74. It was a surprisingly cool night in FL so it was possible that the unit was trying to heat us up so once he changed it to 71, that seemed to be the sweet spot. Room got cooler and the unit didn't keep going on and off making that horrendous noise. Faith restored. I also got on top of the comforter rather than under it and that seemed to be a good cushion. Overall, I was very impressed by the location and the room was nicely remodeled. When we walked out to go for breakfast, the receptionist was very friendly. Despite our temporary complaints, I'd definitely recommend this motel for a quick stay. It's very central and we got it for a good price on Booking.com. read more

AVOID at all cost. Stay anywhere but here. Cheap strong Chemical smell is absolutely Unbearable we had to leave door open 2 hours just to be able breath. Bathroom and Shower are super tiny. Management is horrible. Kicked BOTH my bf and myself out at 8pm for having a verbal (non-physical) dispute with eachother. Completely ruined my birthday weekend. Didn't get to spend a single night there yet They Refused to refund us ANY money... and all this after I had just lost both of my grandparents too... I desperately needed a retreat. Instead we were forced to drive home 4hrs in the dark. Had to blare music whole way home just to not fall asleep at the wheel. When there is a verbal dispute between a couple that arrived together it is both completely unethical to kick BOTH parties out, (especially when you're aware they arrived in 1 car) And keep ALL of the money after kicking BOTH parties out (for a 3 day weekend when they didn't stay a single night) as I'm sure the room was resold for the rest of that busy weekend. We checked in and immediately found bugs on the hand towels and in the bed. Small thin black bugs along with some type of clear yellowish bug wings all over the bed and on the bathroom floor. We left immediately. The front desk clerk claimed she didn't know how to process a refund and that someone coming in the next day would do so. It's been a week, and no refund has appeared. We have disputed the charges with American Express and provided them with pictures! They will take care of it. Don't stay here! The clerk also said someone else had left our room abruptly the day before. Clearly, they did nothing to remedy the situation. Was not our favorite stay in Saint Augustine. The price was great but the bed was so hard we could not sleep at all. The AC didn't work well enough to cool the room and it wasn't even hot outside. PLS READ B4 BOOKING . IN DEPTH 2022 REVIEW : So me and my significant other booked a "Single Queen with Water View" in April 2022 . And let me just say if you're not used to the area it can be a bit confusing when you get there . I got turned around and had to drive through one way alleyways and tight squeezes . As a new driver that was intense for me . Also we got there around 4pm and the surrounding area and shops were still very busy and the parking lot is so small that it was full and I had to drive 4 blocks away and pay for the public parking and walk that same 4 blocks there and back to check in . During Check-in , they told me it was a double-room . I showed them the screenshot where the booking said "Single Queen" and they assured me the booking is a double Queen . So I asked if we could book the "Deluxe King" that was listed as available on their website , but they said it was unavailable and the only other room they had was a "Triple King" . They gave us a parking pass for the parking lot and we went to the st Augustine outlets after check-in so when we got back there'd be a parking space available (There was - 8pm) . They have a pool , which looks decent . There's smoking rooms available which I actually loved . And ashtrays at all the upstairs outdoor seating areas by the front door of every room . There was a beautiful community balcony with fake grass and tables and chairs . && Since it's by the water the view is pretty and the wind is perfect and there's twinkly lights on the railings and it's just so beautiful and relaxing (at night) . During the day it's a bit loud and crowded on the surrounding streets . But around 9pm the streets die down , and the horse carriage rides are still going , so all you hear is wind and horse hooves . So relaxing . The downside to this room was the hardwood vinyl planking was so dirty and gross . Idk if maybe it was just the last room to be mopped with the same water used on the other rooms orrrr maybe i just caught em on a bad day but I had to buy a swiffer wet+dry at the family dollar and even after going over it with a wet pad and a dry pad THREE times each , my feet still got dirty a good bit . There was no door to the freezer in our mini fridge . It was just - gone . The reading lights on each headboard didn't work nor did the LED lights trimming the bed frame . And after running clean water thru the coffee maker like 5 times (fresh water each time) it was still dirty . ALSO , the shampoo and conditioner in the shower seemed lovely at first . Claimed all natural ingredients . Loved it at first . My hair felt so soft . But then two days later my hair felt like STRAW . Really just dry and crispy . I recommend bringing some of ur own if u plan on washing hair lol . The water pressure was nice tho . There's a vending machine and ice machine by the office . Washer and dryer too I believe . Also , our TV was mounted so it was hard to get to hdmi port to hook up our fire stick . So if you plan on bringing a fire stick or something , not 100% sure it'll work out . The staff is really nice ! It wasn't necessarily a bad experience but it could've been a bit better . read more

1. Great location - park once and you can walk everywhere/ BUT.... 1. Booked second story, but got first story; 2. Could hear every step and stomp from room above; 3. Loud - people hanging out late at night loudly talking from right outside room; 4. No WiFi or at least no explanation of how to sign-on; 5. No maid service because our flimsy door hanger turned in the wind from Please Clean to Do Not Disturb and when we tried to get room cleaned we were told that we "missed" that opportunity; 6. No outdoor furniture for our unit; 7. AC is a wall unit - need I say more; 8. Toilet seat broken/not secure; 9. Shower is slippery and no bath mat was provided and towels are pretty small; 10. "Viewing" deck has outdoor furniture and such, but has also become an area to leave crap and building materials; 11. Outside our room was a either a new commode in a box or an empty box which never moved during the three days we were here; 12. Room was ok, but not entirely clean when we arrived - bathroom still had someone else's hair on the floor. I really wanted to give this place a better rating given it's location and the ability to walk everywhere, but the cons outweighed the pros this time. We visit St. Augustine fairly often and have stayed in various B&B''s without any issues. Unfortunately, this time we did not get much bang for our buck and rates were high because of Veterans' Day (i.e. $202) and you literally got 2 small bars of soap, a parking space, three towels, no WiFi, no maid service, bathroom that the had fixtures separating from the wall. I need to mention that it was extremely cool and unexpected that we received a $25 credit when we me mentioned late night noise issues and we were given great advice from staff regarding locking in your reservation on booking.com because of overbooking This hotel could not be anymore convenient because you can park once and walk all of St Augustine (Downtown), which is great since trying to park downtown can be dicey. Maybe if we had been on the 2nd floor the experience may have been more positive. read more

This is the 2nd time we've stayed here and we will definitely be back. The location can't be beat (on the water and you can walk to everything downtown) and it seems to be a family-run hotel in which the people truly care about taking care of their guests. From the outside it seems basic, but inside is upgraded and very comfortable. I love the modern, neutral gray/white theme (vs the usual floral-Florida screaming decor) and the rooms have amazing black out curtains to sleep through the sun-rise if you want! Shower is great, room is cool, and I can't overemphasize the friendliness, capability and professionalism of the staff and management. We will be back! read more

Blood stain sheets! I try to look for the best in the adventure, but after reading other posts, it seems to be a trend the head of housekeeping needs to address, and quickly. The stains were right in front of the staffs face, why would they continue to make the bed? Important: Management did the right thing for us. After reading a post from July about blood stained sheets, and other stained sheet posts, obviously something is a miss. The hotel is in the process of a remodel and it looks like they are stepping up their game to be part of the St Augustine hotel group. Best wishes. Older motel that has been fully remodeled. It is fairly inexpensive, clean and well furnished and within walking distance of historic downtown St Aug. Allows dogs but when we walked into the room is smelled very clean, no doggie smells. Hotel staff is friendly. Outdoor seating to overlook the water, which is directly across the street. Small to med sized pool, we didnt use it but it seemed well maintained. There is a mini fridge and microwave. The AC is a window unit but we went in June and it got very cold in our room so no worries there. My only complaint was that the bathroom windows were still the old accordion type and small flying bugs got in overnight. Please change those windows and it would be perfect. We will def be back for another visit. read more

This place SAVED my life!!!! I visited St. Augustine for the lights with my family and left several things in my hotel room, the Marion Motor Lodge. If you have never been to St. Augustine (which I had not) amazing place to stay. The staff there found my stuff and this amazing Pack N Post place called and boxed up my stuff and sent it to me in Chicago right away. Medication and an expensive camera.....so needed and so appreciated. Happy Holidays to these amazing people in St. Augustine Florida and to their amazing businesses. I've traveled a lot and NEVER have people been so courteous and caring. The hotel is in a perfect spot for seeing the lights and restaurants galore within walking distance. Being on the first floor in the updated rooms was a bonus. We traveled with our daughter and her 6 month old baby and both rooms were perfect! The large refrigerator and microwave were a huge bonus for us. The staff at the front desk was helpful and accommodating. They also took the time to give us a map and explain the best parts of the city. I appreciated the professionalism, but the kindness there far outweighs anything they could have done for us. We made.a last minute trip to St. Augustine to see nights of lights. We needed a place to stay for one night with our two dogs and we wanted to be in the downtown historic district. There was a lack of availability but MML had a few rooms available. I read the reviews and took a chance. Glad we did! Yes, the parking lot is cramped but who cares, you only need one spot. Check in was easy, front desk very polite. We had a 2nd floor room with a view, there is a common area also upstairs next time I will do the first floor will be easier with the dogs. Room was clean and tidy and no carpet, which I liked. Bathroom was tiny, but had everything you need. We also enjoyed the coffee maker in the morning. My only negative, and it wasn't their fault is there were people talking outside of our door at 2:30 am which made our dogs bark. I would definitely stay here again. They are renovating like crazy. Super modern rooms now, while keeping some of the original charm which is saint augustine in a nutshell. The view and location are outstanding!!! I was pleasantly surprised by my room at the Marion. After spending the day in Saint Augustine, I decided at the last minute to stay the night and to be honest, I chose the cheapest option I could find online at the time. From the outside, I wasn't really sure what to expect but every part of my experience was five star. The woman checking me in was pleasant, helpful and accommodating. She recommended checking out the second floor balcony or the pool and even asked if I had eaten or needed info on restaurants. Then, the room itself was beautiful. It looked newly renovated with nice floors, comfortable and clean furniture, and honestly the nicest hotel-bathroom I've seen (granted I do usually go for the cheaper option). Location is perfect with a view of the water right across the street. They even let me leave my car in the parking lot a few hours after I checked out (I had to ask and this was in early May so I'd imagine in the peak season this may not be possible as the parking lot is rather small). I would absolutely recommend this place and will stay there again. read more

Another bonus is that the hotel is no more than two minutes away from the main Saint Augustine's town square/ plaza. We stayed here Easter weekend. Upon arrival, we found toothpaste on the sink, hairs on the sheets and toilet, and blood on the light switch in the bathroom. I went to the front desk and asked if they would remove the blood since I didn't bring sanitizing wipes. The girl at the front desk retrieved Mr. B(?) who appeared less than thrilled to have to come and wipe off the blood. The sheets smelled like dirty clothes and there was a faint odor of stale urine in the bathroom. The location is the only thing this place has going for it to be honest, but next time we will stay farther out if we have to. The price for what we experienced is absolutely absurd. This place offers an amazing value for what you get! My room cost $79 out the door and was recently renovated. Online reservation was easy and check in was a breeze! The staff was very friendly. The pool looked very nice. I think the biggest asset this place has going for it is location. While other hotels are in the down town historic district there price tag is well over $100 and sometime much more. The hotel is located right next to OC Whites which is one of the towns famous restaurants and watering holes and right across the street from the bay. Amazing Bridge of Lions views! Tons of outdoor lounge areas if you just want to take in the city. I would say this place is perfect for quick impromptu weekend trips, guys/girls weekends, and personally I could stay here for a week very easily. I stayed here for business and was very happy. One small draw back is the lack of breakfast but for the price, you can't beat it. If you're going to come to St. Augustine you want to stay down town. The Marion walking distance to basically everything and stumbling distance from the bars at the end of the night! read more

We are here during one of the coldest days in St. Augustine, January 2018 .... fortunately, the unit heater in the room works well. This hotel is in a great location on the water and near almost everything you want to see and do. Most of what is in the room is relatively new. The primary improvement would be bigger and nicer towels. Coffee is available to be made in the room. The hotel has a great staff! read more

The only reason this hotel is getting two stars is because of the location. We were able to walk conveniently down town. HOWEVER, as soon as we walked in the room there were stains all over the bed. The housekeeping didn't clean the room at all and when we asked for towels she handed us damp towels that were just wadded up in her hand. To top it all off, there isn't a lock or a place to swipe your key at the pool. We watched a homeless man walk in the gate, jump in the pool with all his clothes on and walk right out. When paying for a room, the least I expect is cleanliness and security. Unfortunately, we didn't experience either while staying here. read more
