My boyfriend and I have eaten there at least three times in the past 4 years, on our bi/ annual trips to Jim Thorpe. We tried a variety of food there, but I think my favorite was the Bavarian Beer Pretzel served with Berwick beer mustard and gouda cheese sauce ($10 appetizer). Also their fries may not be the best I've ever eaten, BUT their ketchup is one of the kind! I am Polish, so I pay extra attention to the condiments I am served/ eat my meal with. It tasted smoky and very tomato-e. I forgot which sandwiches we had, but they all tasted delicious. Well prepared with complementing flavors. The price ranges between $11-$17. The bar also has a decent selection of beer, according to my boyfriend. We sat inside in winter and outside when it was a bit warmer. The restaurant is inside a converted firehouse from 1885, and it definitely looks unique. It is not a big space, but feels very welcoming and comfortable. You could bring your pets when sitting outdoors. Heat lamps are available in colder weathers. Although we do give a try to other restaurants in the town, this is hands down our favorite.

The staff highlighted an excellent visit to Jim Thorpe. Sage was so friendly and quick with everything giving great recommendations around town. We sat outside on the spacious patio with plenty of shade. We shared a few appetizers and would recommend the cheese steak egg rolls! My main dish was the Wellington and while it was tasty, I would try a different dish next time

Drinks and service were 5 stars. Food sucked. Chili nachos although loaded were too sweet for my taste, loaded with bbq sauce. Why? Don't know. Also store bought, bagged chips. Too much trouble to make your own. And the Philly cheesesteak eggrolls had almost no filling and came with tomato sauce for some odd reason. Maybe a queso or chipotle mayo would've made more sense. Then they started asking if we wanted anything else which is aka saying it's time to go when we failed to order more drinks or food.

The service was awesome and super fast. Place was pretty crowded and we were sat at the bar. This was the first restaurant that we went to for our weekend in Jim Thorpe. Everyone working was very friendly and seems to be having fun while doing a great job. We got the Spinach dip and the fish and chips. Both were very good the fish was super crispy and fries were hot and good as well. Spinach dip we didn't finish because it was a little heavy and very cheesy but it went well with the pita chips served with it. Very cool vibe in the bar and the music was great as well. I got a margarita and my girlfriend got a Moscow mule and we both loved them. If we are in Jim Thorpe again we will definitely be back.

While visiting Jim Thorpe, be sure to visit Marion Hose Bar for lunch or dinner. The service and food were excellent. You will find there is more available outdoor seating. Inside there are approximately six tables. My family and I ate inside with plenty of space. There is a nice bar area for you to sit and enjoy. There are fall themed cocktails and a variety of Big Ben sodas for you to order. There are plenty of bar food options. Some big hits were the French onion soup and pretzels. My family members who ordered the French onion soup said it was the best they ever had! Most of us ordered chicken sandwiches or burgers. My veggie burger was delicious. The special pasta of the day was the penne vodka, which had a great taste. I plan on returning the next time I visit Jim Thorpe. Thanks for the great meal and service!

Wow! My favorite in Jim Thorpe. We waited in line before it even opened. They had a line for the whole time we were there. They did a great job seating people and making sure the orders were taken and food came out promptly! We had the fries and then the beef stew over mashed potatoes Hot, fresh and delicious! Eat in or outside just a great place!

Our Hostess was a delight, and Kyle took excellent care of us!! We sat on the patio, and enjoyed the perfect Jim Thorpe weather!! My hubby had the Special which was a Jalapeño Popper Burger, he said it was fantastic, and he loved their Homemade Ketchup! I had the Marsala Melt, and it was so dang yummy, will be having it again! Perfect Atmosphere Great Drinks~ Yummy Food~Excellent Service We will definitely be back!!

Servers and stuff were so nice! Salad was small and the steak on top didn't taste fresh at all. Our side of fries was small, stubby fries rather than full-length ones. Wings were good and the cheesesteak egg-rolls were great!

The food here was some of the best I've had in PA. In the picture is the French dip and the bread was super soft and the steak was really great quality. I look forward to coming back. We sat on the patio and our waitress was super sweet and attentive and the environment was perfect for Jim Thorpe during the summer. We also got the chicken salad sandwich on a croissant bun and it was a big hit.

We visited Jim Thorpe for the day and planned on going here for lunch. Yes there is a line waiting to get seated. The inside is small. There is an outside seating area. The food was very good. We had these cheesesteak egg rolls that were excellent! We also had the " after school special " and the " chunker " and was delicious! They had a big beer selection but didn't really have any good selections to choose from. They need to have higher ratings beers " untapped " we really loved the atmosphere here. The service was very good. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because of the lack of higher rating beers available.

French Onion Soup
Dave C.

Great food and very good service. We went for lunch on a Thursday and they were still busy. The Soup dumplings were great and the serving size of the Bavarian Pretzels was larger than expected. The children's chicken strips was a huge portion of chicken. I would highly recommend this place. The French Onion soup was a big hit!

We visit Jim Thorpe annually and were excited to try this place given its vegan options. When we entered the restaurant, the set-up was a little confusing. They did seat us pretty quickly though, and the service was probably the only positive to this experience. My husband and I both ordered cocktails; he had the Manhattan while I had a special vodka drink they were offering that day. Our drinks were overall fine but not anything special. My husband's Manhattan was very basic tasting. The menu and the food were the worst parts. The menu is unnecessarily long and phony sounding, like they are trying to be quirky but just come across as fake and condescending. There's extra, unnecessary description of the food that makes the menu difficult and frankly annoying to review. We ordered the bread teaser as well as the hummus. The pesto and the hummus were basic store level quality. The bread was definitely undercooked. For our entrees, we ordered the Cleopatra salad and a pasta dish. The salad tasted fine enough but it was basically just romaine lettuce with a very light dusting of nutritional yeast, vegan cheese, and a very low amount of chickpeas/protein. The pasta was an absolute travesty. It was extremely oily, flavorless, and bland. To top it all off, the food is extremely expensive! They have absolutely no business charging that much. The interior of the place is also a waste of space. It doesn't make any sense that it calls itself a pub. There's also stupid decor everywhere, including a sign that says "no" leading out to an employee-only location. I guess that's supposed to be funny but just comes across as condescending. It's a shame that this place has such a good location with Jim Thorpe and apparently can make a pretty penny serving subpar food and weird vibes. Don't waste your money.

We found this place because I was looking for somewhere I could get a beer and walk out and around the town of Jim Thorpe (I believe they allow it here). She allowed me and my girlfriend to sample some beers that she thought we would like because we were hesitant and what to order. We got the sangria sour beer and the white ale which were perfect for us. We also saw online that everyone loved the smash burger so we had to try it. We added truffle fries for 3 dollars which was so worth it. Some of the best fries we have ever had. Also I think we decided it was the best smash burger we have ever had. We both have never tried bacon jam and we were a bit hesitant about the pimento cheese as well. I think my favorite moment from this trip was sitting at the bar here and eating this meal. I ordered shrimp and scallop hibachi and it was incredibly oily and greasy, and the portion of shrimp and scallops was tiny. My friend also got hibachi and felt the same way. My salad was watery, and the clear mushroom soup tasted very strange. I couldn't take more than a bite of either the soup or the salad. For my entree, asked the server if I could please have extra vegetables instead of noodles, and she said that there was a "language barrier" in the kitchen, so she didn't want to ask that. I thought that was an odd comment for her to make. My daughter ordered some sushi rolls and liked them, and my husband and our friend also liked their sushi; so maybe sushi is a better choice here. The place is small and to echo other reviewers, tables are very crammed together and you will bump in to other people just by moving around. The place is cool looking on the inside and outside, definitely an interesting vibe, and they have a full bar. We did have to ask multiple times about the status of our beverages (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic). My drink was not good, it was a sake/lemon drop hybrid type of thing and it was insanely sweet - I couldn't finish it.

Unfortunately, there was a strong cold draft at floor level, leaving our feet uncomfortably cold throughout the meal. The hostess was sweet and greeted us with a smile. The food service was unremarkable. Our waiter was not particularly friendly nor personable. The drinks were a weak start. The red sangria was poor. The bourbon cocktail was an odd mix of bourbon, apple cider, and other elements--an awkward, Frankenstein-style whiskey sour that simply didn't work. Worst of all, both drinks were served in thin plastic cups, which immediately cheapened the entire experience. I ordered the falafel sandwich and specifically requested a toasted bun. It arrived not just room temperature, but cold. I sent it back, and it returned burning hot... the bottom soggy... literally too hot to pick up... with no browning or color change, clearly microwaved. Microwaving is not toasting. At that point, the sandwich was inedible. I removed the bun entirely and ate just the falafel, which was dry and largely tasteless. At this point I knew coming back to this restaurant was a mistake. Food timing was another issue. The dishes took roughly 45 minutes to arrive after the drinks, possibly longer. We were all getting annoyed and what started out well when we first walked in turned negative. I wasn't impressed on my first visit years ago... and this second visit confirmed it. Between the poor drinks, cheap plastic cups, ridiculously long wait (with no explanation nor apology), and careless food execution, there's no reason to return.
