Group of 6 of us went to Myst for our last night in Jim Thorpe. Food was very disappointing. I ordered shrimp and scallop hibachi and it was incredibly oily and greasy, and the portion of shrimp and scallops was tiny. My friend also got hibachi and felt the same way. My salad was watery, and the clear mushroom soup tasted very strange. I couldn't take more than a bite of either the soup or the salad. For my entree, asked the server if I could please have extra vegetables instead of noodles, and she said that there was a "language barrier" in the kitchen, so she didn't want to ask that. I thought that was an odd comment for her to make. My daughter ordered some sushi rolls and liked them, and my husband and our friend also liked their sushi; so maybe sushi is a better choice here. The place is small and to echo other reviewers, tables are very crammed together and you will bump in to other people just by moving around. The place is cool looking on the inside and outside, definitely an interesting vibe, and they have a full bar. We did have to ask multiple times about the status of our beverages (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic). My drink was not good, it was a sake/lemon drop hybrid type of thing and it was insanely sweet - I couldn't finish it. read more

My wife and I stopped here to pick up a takeout dinner as we headed to a cabin we had rented for three days in Blakesley, PA. I placed my takeout order at the bar with Ryan the bartender. He was friendly and helpful. I ordered drunken noodles with beef for my wife and the teriyaki steak dinner for myself. I explained to Ryan that we would like some extra Szechuan spice for the drunken noodles because most Pennsylvania Asian/Thai/Japanese restaurants do not make the drunken noodles spicy enough for our taste. I watched Ryan type in the order for the extra spice on his screen. He also asked how I would like the steak and I said rare, and I also watched him hit the "rare" button on his screen. I had a Yuengling beer and checked my email messages while I waited for 15 minutes for the order to be prepared. I then headed out to my car and drove the 30 minutes to Blakesley, PA. We had dinner shortly after we arrived, and everything was still pretty warm in the Styrofoam take out containers. I can give five stars to the portion sizes..... but that's where my good marks end. There was no Szechuan spice, in the takeout bag or anywhere in its contents. And without it, the drunken noodles were the most bland, dry, and unflavorful drunken noodles we have ever tasted. I wasn't about to drive 30 minutes each way back to Jim Thorpe to get the spice so we just toughed it out and ate about one 1/4 -1/3 of the drunken noodles and threw the rest of them out. I'd rate this entrée as a one star. The side salad that came with the teriyaki steak dinner had lettuce that was a little tired, but not horrible. I would rate the salad two stars The mushroom soup that came with the teriyaki steak was possibly the most bland unflavorful Asian soup I've ever ordered. I would rate the soup one star The teriyaki steak entrée itself was quite tasty, but unfortunately, the steak was not rare and one would be hard put to even call it medium-well done. If I had been dining at the restaurant, I would've sent it back and asked them to do it over. I would rate the teriyaki steak entrée three stars. Note to self... Always check the menu when you arrive at the restaurant for the correct prices. The menus posted on the Facebook page must have been old and the prices in them were significantly less than they are now in October 2025. A total cost (including tip and tax) of the two dinners and the one beer I had while I was waiting for the order to be prepared was $54.35 I rarely ever give poor reviews... But I have to be honest and truthful when I'm writing my reviews or they turn into "puff" pieces. I'm not saying that you shouldn't try this restaurant to see if you might have better success than I did.......But I will not be trying it again. read more

After touring the town, we decided to have lunch before taking the scenic train ride. The closest food spot to the train station and just a crossed the street is this sushi place. We sensed that it used to be a bistro bar that turned to a spot with option for real food. There was a line when we walked . We were on right timing to get seats . The food served to us did not disappoint. We enjoyed each one's choices. Sashimi, bento box, sushi, hibachi meats, noodles and rice were tasty. After walking and touring around the town of Jim Thorpe, me, my wife and our friends got famished, searched for a good place to eat on YELP and we chose to try this establishment. Upon entering the restaurant, I noticed that the atmosphere is great and phenomenal, lots of interesting decorations, mostly work of art that I assume is for sale as I saw almost all of them had a price tag. We were warmly welcomed by the staff and was immediately seated. I looked at their menu, they have a wide selection of food and drinks which I perceived is Asian-inspired. Table setting is casual, nice, clean tables and chairs. We ordered Sushi and sashimi combo, shrimp fried rice, shrimp hibachi dinner and bento box A with chicken. All were perfectly prepared, fresh sushi and sashimi, everything was delectable and palatable. I observed and noted that they give large portions and delicious, aromatic, flavorful food. Good value, special mention about their flexibility and being helpful with dietary restrictions and fast service. Staff was wonderful, friendly and accommodating. Great experience, awesome atmosphere, top-notch food taste, good value, wonderful staff, fast service, what more can you ask. It was just okay, The place is really small, the tables are crammed in where you have no room to move and constantly bumping into chairs behind you. The service was mediocre. Stopped in for lunch while in Jim Thorpe, interestingly dubbed the "Switzerland of America" because of its ski destination clout. Jim Thorpe's little main street has a bit of charm, with wine stores, gift shops, and cafes dotting the strip, along with some decent looking restaurants. I was with my large family and Myst easily seated the 18 of us or so and were really attentive with our table's various needs. I admittedly didn't have the highest expectations going in but the food wasn't bad. One reason I was skeptical is because they dub themselves a Japanese restaurant but have a ton of Thai food on the menu, and Japanese and Thai food are quite different. I've come to learnt smooshing multiple Asian cuisines onto one menu is pretty common in the suburbs and you know what, the execution of both cuisines wasn't bad. People at my table ordered pad thai, and it was pretty good. I largely stuck to special rolls though and wasn't disappointed. The place has no frills, but it felt clean, service was friendly, prices were right, and they served our large party. If passing through Jim Thorpe, it's a great place for a meal. read more

First I want to start off with that this is the second problem I have had with this restaurant. My family called in an order with the restaurant waiting on food just to come in and be told our food was given to someone else. Now you would think that our order would immediately be remade, well you would be wrong. I was told that they were calling the said person that they gave our order to OR (now this is a big part of the story) remaking our food. Now, here's a food for thought, it is ILLEGAL to give food that was already given out to someone else. We were told that our food would be remade or that the person would bring it back. After about twenty minutes, we were called on the phone to say our food was ready. We went back over to pick it up, mind you this would the fourth time we were going back and fourth to pick up food and we were told that no discount would be given to us, just to to be told that the person had brought back to food. They were assuring us that the food hadn't been touched or tampered with, but how could anyone know that. Again to state that it is ILLEGAL to regive food out that had already been given to someone else. We told them that we do not trust that the person hadn't touched the food and that we will not take the food. We were then told we would have to wait ANOTHER 30 minutes. We had to fully cancel to order and cancel a good night, with good company and were under the impression that we would have a nice dinner. This will be the last time that my family and I will be ordering from here simply based off the fact that they are not more careful with their orders and that there had been such a big issue. One thing I will leave anyone reading this review with is to make sure that you are checking that your food is fresh when ordering from here or if they are just regiving the food to you that had already been with someone else. read more

Unless you're on a first-name basis with a waiter here, don't expect service anytime soon. We sat starving for 30 minutes with zero acknowledgment, not even a drink order, while people who came in after us magically got their orders taken and drinks right away. The place wasn't busy at all, tons of empty tables, and waiters just strolling around like they're on a coffee break. The sad part? We actually liked the menu and were ready to drop a solid order. Love this place! Hubby and I have been here a few times and are anxious to try their lunch specials as they appear to be an exceptional deal. We've been there for dinner and we're very happy with the sushi. Expect to pay seven dollars for a draft however be sure you ask if they have any beer specials. Cheryl was our knowledgeable server who assisted up with the menu. We started off with the Crab Rangoon- delicious w a sweet dipping sauce. Loved it. Husband got the Tom yom soup. It has chicken, peppers and it's a creamy coconut milk base with tomato- it was splendid! I would eat that as an entree honestly. I tried the miso soup - there was nothing wrong with it but I should tried the clear soup recommended by Cheryl- I didn't care for the flavor of the miso. I tried the shrimp tempura roll. It was delicious. My husband tried the Kingston roll. That looked and tasted delicious. The interior features beautiful art work by local artists for sale. It's a more relaxed atmosphere. Went here on Saturday October fifth. The whole town was pretty busy due to the fact it was the first day of fall fest. Only had four hours to spend in town. Ended up spending almost 2 hours here waiting and eating and waiting again. Food was good I got the general tsos chicken and my wife got the drunking chicken noodles. Took way too long for the waitress to come over to take our drink order and she was no hurry to come back to take our food order. Once we ordered food it took way too long for our food to reach our table. In the meantime other people were able to order and eat before we even got our food. The waitress was not very efficient, walked passed our table 3 times with the bill and on her forth pass she finally dropped off our bill. We WERE not happy with our experience here but if we are ever back in town. This will be one place we will avoid. read more

Home run all around-- our Server Heather was a rock star!! With her help we selected a nice paced out lunch sitting outside with our small QUIET pup, she never said a peep. We put Heather in the spot with our questions and food selections and she more than delivered. Started with the pork gyoza, lightly fried, had a nice skin texture and flavor. Next we shared the pink lady roll (soy paper) yippie, we didn't have to ask as it comes that way. Taste better!! The ingredients were super fresh, really nice texture on the tongue We the. Shared their classic pad Thai with shrimp because Heather's dad loves that dish. We nod now as well. My wife had a glass of Reisling, not too sweet, and I had a local pumpkin brew.
