A hidden gem and inexpensive place to stay in the North End of Boston. Before you book your room make sure you go to their website if you meet the requirements to stay here. I fall under the sea service Military (retiree) category. Location: the Italian North End of town. Beautiful. Reminds me of my days living in Italy. Church and Piazza right in front of the hotel. A few blocks from the best Cannolis in town (Mike's). The hotel is also on the Freedom Trail. Facilities: It has an older feel. Nice place to rest after weeks at sea or hours of walking the Freedom Trail. Room was good for the price. Had a soft Queen side bed and nice few of the Church Across the street. Full size bathroom. No USB ports so make sure you have a charger. Loved the complementary breakfast. Chef made the eggs straight from the flat grill to your plate. Coffee is self serve. Service: front desk gentleman made it a smooth check in. Also pointed us to a few of his favorite local eateries. I really didn't want to post this review (selfish reasons)....but remembered that I'm a Yelper and love sharing good experiences. Enjoy!!

Nice quiet hotel in great location in downtown Boston's North end. Minute walk to great attractions. Located on the freedom trail this hotel is actually next door to Paul Revere home and 3 minute walk to Faneuil Hall. This hotel is geared around Maritime sailers. Hotel has an in-house galley that actually provides meals and drinks. Rooms are not huge neither is the rates for the rooms. Here you can spend half of what a big hotel would cost. At the end of the day your just sleeping here while the days are spent seeing the city. Live laugh and ahoy mate!!

Mariners house, interesting place. Check it out.

I'm hesitant to write this review, because I like to keep this place a secret... The hotel is for merchant mariners: men and women who work at sea, including but not limited to afloat military personnel, maritime institution affiliates, and other professional seafarers and their families. Mariners House offers a variety of rooms. We stayed here two nights and it was perfect. The Mariners House is in prime location in Boston. We were able to walk to Little Italy right around the corner and have excellent coffee and pastries with out having to drive, look for parking and bear the crazy lines. I dont know if you know how dangerous it was for this foodie, to be right around the corner from some of the best pastries on earth. I had bakeries, pizzeria and Italian restaurants galore all around me and I had to control myself not to get too crazy about over indulging. Oh ya, about The hotel is adjacent to Paul Revere House, how cool is that. A historical landmark right next door. We shared walls right next door to history. We were located in a beautiful location, It was unbelievable to wake up and smell the Italian cafes right next door. Besides of all of the great eats next door, you can walk to all the land marks Boston has to offer: Boston Massacre site, State Building, the Boston Garden Arena etc... My husband was able to walk to a Celtic Game within walking distance. Besides of how beautiful the location is, the Mariners House serves breakfast at no charge. Just don't forget to tip generous. Because the staff works from a non profit and tips are generously accepted. Also, there is laundry on site. This is a plus for those who are traveling. And there was a little play area across the street for our little one. This place is inexpensive for a clean room with a clean bathroom in your room. This was one of the best locations I have experienced by far. I really felt part of the culture here.

The property has a fun 1960s vibe, with music front and center, turntables in every room, and a big selection of albums to choose from. Once you get past the all-black hallways, the rooms themselves are a good size, very clean, with effective HVAC, relatively quiet nights, and one of the better-designed hotel bathrooms, including actual shelf space for toiletries. Staff were solid, and the included breakfast is more substantial than the typical "free breakfast" offered by many hotels. Highly recommended; we stayed in a standard room rather than one of the converted travel-trailer suites.

The Verb is rock n roll / music themed that includes records and record players in each room; pretty interesting and nostalgic. We had two rooms with a view of the pool without balcony. My room was clean, smelled good, and was well-decorated. The room included all of the basics. The second room had a horrible sewage smell coming from the bathroom. We reported the issue to the front desk, and the staff member claim it would be repaired upon our return from our outing. Unfortunately, it was not resolved. The included breakfast hosted next door was very good. In addition, the breakfast staff employees were excellent.

There was a TV, safe, steamer, robes, Nespresso machine, fridge, complimentary Voss water (both sparkling and still), and lights and curtains controlled with buttons. The bathroom was very spacious with hand towels on both sides of the sink, which I appreciated so my boyfriend and I could each have one. Spacious room and closets. They truly thought of everything. I would definitely stay here again! I loved everything about it.

On the surface, this hotel presents as polished and upscale, but over time it became clear that it is a full-on Monet--looks good at a glance, but the closer you get, the more issues appear. During my stay, I was required to move rooms three times--once voluntarily after an upgrade, and twice due to serious maintenance issues, including a sprinkler-system flood. In subsequent rooms, I experienced repeated heating failures, inconsistent hot water, and even a shower head detaching during use. The heating issues were ongoing and never fully resolved. On multiple occasions, my room dropped to 66-67 degrees despite the thermostat being set to 80. Even after maintenance visits, the room never consistently warmed beyond 75 degrees. On the morning before my departure, I woke to cold air blowing again, confirming the problem persisted through the end of my stay. Management follow-through was disappointing. Promises to check back or assist were not kept, and communication was inconsistent at best. While beverage credit was offered, it did not come close to addressing the cumulative disruption, lack of rest, and stress caused by ongoing room issues over nearly seven weeks. The saving grace of this hotel was the weekday bartender, Rebecca. Monday through Friday, she greeted my colleagues and me with genuine warmth, professionalism, and grace after very long workdays. She was consistently excellent. Unfortunately, that level of service was not present on weekends, and our group ultimately chose to avoid the hotel bar until Rebecca returned. That said, I do want to acknowledge Shirley, Wendy, James, and Nate, who were consistently kind, professional, and helpful, as well as the valet staff, who were always efficient and courteous. This hotel may work for a very short stay if expectations are modest. For long-term or extended stays, however, the operational issues, lack of follow-through, and inconsistent hospitality do not align with the image or price point the property presents.

That time due to everything going on in the world with minimal travel we enjoyed a cheap rate for an entire weekend with probably the best view offered for the hotel of TD Garden as well as the Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Memorial Bridge. Which I know it's just a bridge but it was a nice sight for an in-city view. This most recent stay was due to a concert at TD Garden my wife and I were in town for. Which I will say if you are looking for a place to stay for an event at TD Garden, good luck finding a better option than here! Check in staff and valet workers were friendly and greeted us with a smile. Rates were very reasonable for end of summer and with a concert so close. Room was smaller this stay around and our view was more of just a building with a small glance of TD Garden if you looked to the side. Overall a very clean room and still a good amount of space. Can not think of any complaints for our stay and would stay here again. They offer valet parking and anytime we needed the car it was quick to get it back. Inside the lobby/first floor they have plenty of seating and what they dub "The Bistro" that offers breakfast, dinner, and full bar and I believe Starbucks drinks too. Location wise it is quite ideal, obviously if your activities/work is in this area of Boston. Besides TD Garden it is also close to North station along with plenty of food and drink options. Personally for a morning coffee or matcha I say check out Blank Street Coffee, then food wise I would say take a quick walk to the North End or closer try Tavern In The Square. Definitely a hotel worth looking into while visiting Boston!

We were on our way out to Fenway, so the friendly gentleman at the front desk was kind enough to give us walking directions after he showed us around the guest spaces and our room. Room: 5 Our room was impeccable with impressive personal touches and attention to detail. Little things like Fiji water, fresh soft towels (and a black towel for makeup), full array of toiletries, and a welcoming comfortable firm bed. Despite having alllll the things to do in Boston, I was excited to get back to that room and that bed, and I slept like a log. I like a good bed when I'm traveling and I would never stay at another place if I had the option. My favorite aspect was having a separate bedroom and living area (with pull out couch). All things comparable, I've stayed in a thousand hotels, I've traveled Boston thoroughly. This will be my go-to forever. Whether traveling single, as a couple, or with my kids, I will look at 284 first and foremost. Kid-friendly: yes! I would definitely stay here with my kids (ages 9, 11, 13). There's a kitchenette equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, cooktop and a nice area to eat. It had a sofa and a small flat screen tv that you can adjust on a mount. The layout was good for our needs. The issue was housekeeping. At first glance there were some crumbs in the kitchen and a few hairs in the tub , and dirty kitchen items. The environment was beautifully decorated for Christmas, like last year, and I had to take some pictures to have as desktop wallpaper on my computer. We had a very nice time and the selections on the menu were impressive. I went with the carrot cake chai black tea, mainly because it had pumpkin pie kinds of spices and vanilla rooibos. It tasted wonderful, like an autumnal tea, and all our teas came in beautifully decorated tea pots, apparently from Australia. The Four Seasons also does this interesting thing where they give you a liquor that fits with your tea order, to be added if you wish or drank by itself. I had a sip of mine and from someone else's, a bit strong for me but a bailey's one was alright. I'm fine with just tea myself! As for the food, this year's high tea was one of the best I've had. The menu was different from last year's, which was great too but in my opinion this seemed like an upgrade. Some of the food items included pieces of salmon in a little pastry, mini lobster roll, peking duck crepe, curried chicken croissant, a beautiful deviled egg, vanilla bean and brown butter scones, an eggnog tart, and a Santa hat shaped raspberry pastry. We even got some alternate options for a lactose sensitive person, so that's a great plus as well. The atmosphere was elegant and calming, and the service was great.
