You will have to take a walk to get to where you want to be. There's a break wall on each side and finally when you walk about a mile down you reach the end of the pier. There is always a variety of people fishing. I have caught my fair share of his share with my little guy anywhere from panfish to bass that could probably hold a record. This is kind of a secret gem but not too many people know about because it's kind of tucked away. It's great to pack a picnic grab your fishing pole bring your kids and enjoy a warm day and Summer by the water.

Poop bags if you're lucky. There is a gate attendant to take your money and enforce rules. You are not Allowed to swim or wade here, nor would you want to because it is filthy. One mile south is the Edsel and Eleanor Ford house, bird island, and the grosse pointe woods park. This is the southernmost public boat launch until Detroit. It's kind of hard to find, drive east on 9 mile until you can't anymore. Drive between fishbones restaurant and the Mobil And keep going. The decor is strange (the smiling tree...), but attractive. It's a hodge-podge of birdhouses, wall hangings, statues, and colored rocks that have been painted by Eastpointe school children. There's more than a few benches, and a good portion of the Children's Gardens is away from the road; this is a great place to get lost in a book rather than attempting to do so at a larger, more crowded place. Also, if you're anything like me, variety in places to read is a necessary thing. You certainly won't be bothered here!

It still has 7 pickle ball courts at this park, not too bad, but not as many as the main Pickleball court at Whittier. All pickleball players in the area know about it. There was pickup games that started before 3PM during the work week. My husband has been getting into this game of late. It takes some getting used to since it's not the same as tennis or badminton at all We got lucky and found one court, which I am told is quite rare. And we even found other beginners and were able to play one full game. We are learning baby steps, it's easier to get up to speed with this game as well. We were told by other more seasoned players that this park in the morning can be difficult to get on a court, as there are cliquish players that tend to hog the courts for the entire time they are there. No adherence or courtesy to other players that aren't part of this click. I didn't realize pickleball could get so contentious and cliquish either. It's for fun and getting a light workout, no?
