What a great park in the middle of the city! Saw a Skip Marley concert. There were people of all ages there including people with babies. Very family friendly. Next time, I'll know to bring my own chair. I paid $20 to valet park at Lumen. Next time, I'll eat at Lumen too!
Its beautiful! Im so glad Detroit has started using this space for events. Recently visited while goin downtown to see the lights and was pleasantly surprised at all the decor and new set up. It was set up for the Tree lighting, but Ive been for other events too. There is an on-site restaurant -Lumen. And since its cold. They have little heated pods for patrons. A beautiful space to spend some time.
I love this park so much. It's not very busy which is great and they have lots of seating. It's also so clean and they have phone chargers set up.
They've done a great job creating a little neighborhood gathering point here, on just about any day of the week. There are market days, family days, nighttime events, etc. We went for the Saturday Night Market. Parking was super easy because Lumen, the resident restaurant, has a $10 valet out front. (cheap!) Lumen also has a monopoly on all alcohol here so they are making it back.. The valet asked if we had a Lumen reservation but don't let that scare you off.. we did not and he seemed to indicate he was a valet for the restaurant only, but Lumen has bar service in the park. The Beacon Market at Night Facebook Event page indicated a "variety of Food Trucks" and vendors. By that, they mean, 2 food trucks, (vegetarian severely limited), and unremarkable vendors.. but they did have 2 great bands. The tater tot truck was very popular with our meat eaters and the other, Brass Kitchen, made the best fried brussel sprouts we have tried from Birmingham to downtown. (they also had a mushroom and cheese sandwich for the veggies, but we didn't try it.) There were games throughout for young and old and a general sense of community that is building downtown and attracting suburbanites as well. This place is a major plus for the area and we will frequent all events here to support it.
I love this park. There are always fun things to do and events. Lumen is also right next door and Republic is across the street. It's pretty with the lights, and there are games you can play, all for free.
Right in the heart of the Motor City was an Oasis of sorts. A beautiful park with views of the skyline and where you can get a quick bite. It was setup for a bike a thin. I don't know the exact name, but there were tons of vendors with free stuff and I got all the swag like a true yelper should. There was a outdoor movie theatre and a restaurant at this park. They definitely have lots of events and fun here. When I drove by they had people on peloton bikes and that's what drew me to this park. I'm glad I stopped by and I will be back the next time I'm in Detroit.
Beacon Park is a wonderful place with street parking, easy terrain (astro turf/fake grass) and beautiful views of the city. It is used often to host sponsored fun things to do. We have enjoyed fitness type of events there including outdoor yoga. We definitely will be back.
Such a great park right downtown. Came here for the Los Trampos installation. My daughter didnt want to leave! Very clean with public restrooms, and Lumen sells bottled water at the bar. Great place to spend a family day!
Well done for the Holidays! The park is beautifully decorated with lights. Make sure you get down here for nightfall to experience and take in Beacon Park all lit up. There is an excellent photo opportunity in a sleigh pulled pulled by lit reindeers. The shelter is extremely cozy and warm. Hang out, play a game, have a hot chocolate, and just relax in the middle of Holiday fun.
Beacon Park is a nice place to visit. There is a restaurant on site but it is not always open. One funny thing about the place is that the park area is furnished with astro-turf but the roof of the restaurant has actual grass growing on it! Cracks me up every time I look at the park - especially from afar. Today they had 'Los Trompos' there. It is an internationally travelling art installation. They are giant sit and spins. They are a lot of fun to ride in. They are also fun to look at. They are colorful and imaginative. The park is very nicely landscaped. During the spring and summer months there are flowers blooming nearly all the time. Spring is especially nice as they have a great Tulip display. Along with the restaurant on site there are usually lunch trucks. Today is a wood fired pizza truck. Yum! The park normally has a variety of attractions over time. Along with Los Trompos right now there is a tent installed with lots of pinball machines and other games. It's all free which is definitely a positive. Easy walking to hotels, restaurants and other attractions all around.
We've been to Beacon Park a few times for different events while on nights out in Detroit! This time, we stopped in for Sunset Sessions which ended up being the park set up with umbrella tables on the sidewalks and the turf area open with games throughout. A DJ played all night and lights were set up around the perimeter to allow play to be enjoyed all evening. The games set up included ping pong, life size jenga and connect four, and a container to help yourself to sporting equipment to have some fun with. This was a great event for families to attend, as well as couples looking for a laid back fun night. Beacon Park is constantly having fun activities and this was just one of many that I have attended that prove the strides Detroit is taking to bring the community together! NOTE: Be sure to check out the reflecting pools in front of the DTE building as well (pretty cool) right next to Beacon Park. You can easily find the park by following the "beacon" light that is lit into the sky at night!
Beautiful park, I enjoyed just sitting here and taking in the atmosphere. It is a lost smaller then I thought. But I would like to go back when there is an event, like a band or something. But it was still a beautiful day in the city. I think they do have vendors here also at sometimes unfortunately no one was there this particular day so I later walked to the river front.

Beacon Park is a pretty nice park to visit if you're looking for a break from the Urban Sprawl. Tip: Unlike most city parks, this one is surfaced with astro turf, rather than grass. That said, the restaurant here actually has grass on it's roof. During the warm months, there are a different types of blooming flowers decorating the venu. The park often has different attractions available at different times throughout the year. read more

Really impressed with Beacon Park. I attended Beacon Park's free one year anniversary Saint Motel concert and had a blast. There was a large stage where Flint Eastwood and Saint Motel performed, plenty of lush grass where people were standing to watch the band or sitting on blankets, and a large covered tented area with picnic tables. They also had an open air night market with a variety of food trucks, craft and local vendors, and outdoor games like Jenga, a giant Connect Four, and foosball table. They also had stands selling Griffin Claw craft beer and Lumen craft cocktails. I had the Lumen Elderflower Paloma and it was really good. Cocktails were $10 and beer and premade canned cocktails were $7. We also tried sweet potato pies from one of the vendors which were really delicious. Lumen is right at the edge of Beacon Park and was really nice with a fire pit and roof top where you could easily enjoy dinner and drinks and even watch the free concert from there. Republic and Parks and Rec is right across the street. They also did an interactive light installation with colorful moving lights projected onto the Grand Army of the Republic building during the concert. Saint Motel put on a great show and even came out in the audience. The show ended at 10:30 but the night market and vendors are open until midnight. There is a parking lot right across the street, however parking was expensive at $15-$20 during the show and dropped to $7 as soon as it ended. Lots of cool events are held here throughout the summer, free concerts, silent discos, family fun days, yoga, free outdoor spin class, and every Saturday night June through August they have their night markets with food trucks, vendors, and live music. Had so much fun here and definitely look forward to returning for more events in the future! read more

Free Family Fun Days on Sundays from 12-4pm! Bouncy house, inflatable slide, miniature golf, hula hoops, face painting, food truck, seating, and astroturf so you don't have to worry about your butt getting wet sitting on it! I'd give it 5 stars if there were real bathrooms instead of porta potties and if today's food truck sold drinks in addition to their delicious looking menu! read more

I go here every night on Saturday is when that giant Beacon shines up into the night light and Detroit. I have to say that this spot is my little personal Pizza Heaven in the middle of Detroit :-) they have vendors food trucks yard games table set up an open bar that you can purchase awesome cocktails and amazing basil lemonade it just tasted mine. The first time I attended this wonderful event it was just me and my hubby. The next time I decided I'm bringing the whole family. And it was worth it everybody was equally amazed and it was very neat finding all the new Detroit vendors. Detroit kid was there so was a couple other various local Detroit screen printing companies. Everybody there was pretty much local to the Metro Detroit area which I give a lot of respect to because they're part of the Stitch work in our amazing diverse community. There's literally something there for everybody. And the best part it doesn't start till 7 p.m. I'm not a morning person so this totally worked for me I believe it goes on from 7 p.m. to midnight all the way down to the AstroTurf and the lighting it's the best place I've ever been to in the evening to shop mingle and to sit back and have a cocktail and enjoy people-watching don't miss this event trust me. Five stars in my Yelp book I will be back :-) read more

Beacon Park is a new installment in Detroit, and has truly multi-faceted offerings. ComePlayDetroit and other organizations intend to host various sporting leagues there. Watch or participate in Yoga, Frisbee, Badminton and more. Enjoy a unique dish or a familiar favorite at one of the Food Trucks. Delight in an adult spirits from one of the vendors. Window shop...okay actually shop...at one of the awesome vendors throughout the Market. Dance freely or bob your head discreetly in musical approval of a free, outdoor concert. Play...try to win...Giant Jenga or Giant Connect Four. At night, enjoy the Disney-esque light show on a nearby building. If living nearby, make this a regular stop. If you live not so near, make sure to put this on your to do list. Walk to one of restaurants, storefronts, bars or nightclubs within 10 minutes or less. Safely park for $5 nearby or free if you're savvy. Bring the kids, friends, family or date. Check out their website for more detailed info. Be sure to check out the daytime vibe as well the nighttime vibe, which have different activities. read more
I think they did a really good job on this park and the location of it. Right off of downtown by the DTE energy building. Right by a new upcoming area of Detroit that everyone wants to have a nice park to enjoy being at. Not a park that has swings and slides and all that but it is good walking park and sit down park and joy couple beverages while enjoying a beautiful day. I like how they made a an upstairs part above the bar where you can actually sit on the grass and enjoy a different view of the city. I think this will become one of the popular destinations for people to check out just because it is so different from all the other parks in the area and new life to the city. It was cool to have the light up Teeter totter's they had here for the grand opening which made a little fun for adults to enjoy something different and that's what I love about Detroit they always do something a little bit different throughout the seasons. I hope the city does more changes like this throughout time and bringing new parts new ideas in the city so people get excited to come downtown and actually want to be there. read more
