I go to this park often. It is spacious. It is conveniently located in downtown Wayne and just a short walk from a variety of attractions and businesses. There are churches nearby, banks, stores of many types. The River Rouge runs thorough the north part of the park. It can be very beautiful at times. If you are visiting the river be careful, however, because the water is still of poor quality. Avoid contact with the water.
The park itself has pleasant walkways and is generally well lit. Avoid the river bank after sunset as there is no lighting down there. The playscape is rather large and in good condition. There is one 'bumpy' slide I do not recommend. For some reason someone coming down the slide can get up a good head of steam but suddenly there is a bump and twist and 'ouch!' is the next stop. You'll know which one I mean when you get there. It's the larger set facing east. The rest of it is great.
There are picnic tables scattered throughout the park. There is also an amphitheater. There are several events held here during the year so besides being a nice quiet oasis in the center of town it can be a very popular place and filled with thousands of people. read more
