You can find many trails, picnic areas, boat launches and nature reserve area. The trails are kept up nicely as well as the grounds. They offer so many picnic areas with tables and large grass areas for large gatherings. Another great offering here is the public wave pool open during the summer. I can't count how many times I've been here with friends and family. Next to the pool area is a tot-lot for smaller children to play. A surprise for me was the bald eagle located in the park. They have it by the Marshlands Museum and Nature Center. This is a wonderful learning experience and sight for any age. Annual passes are offered which is a great deal for frequent visitors. Otherwise it's $7 for a day pass.

My case for Oakwoods is that it is less crowded and has a great nature center with a hawk and owl. Often I travel to the park to simply walk the trails going thru the forest listening to music. Usually get to see some deer in the back of the trails and at dusk many deep come out to dine. Also I have seen some wild turkeys too. For the horse riders inclined they have a horse trail, although I have never visited this section of the park. If your a biker/cyclist I highly recommend parking a Willow Metro Park and biking from Willow to Oakwoods and further down the DownRiver bike trail system.

I've ridden the Connector several times, but I've hiked it as well for conditioning, and enjoyment. There are 5mi of trails thru hardwoods, an ancient sandbar, and scenic overlooks along the Huron River. Of the three parks, Oakwoods is by far the best for hiking. The Connector paved hike-bike trail within the park is 3mi. The meadows you pass thru are impressive in their own right. There's also the new 11mi trail connector that runs thru Flat Rock all the way down to Lake Erie Metro Park. The trail head for the 11mi connector begins a 1/4mi west of the Nature Center parking lot. These connector trail segments are part of the Iron Belle Trail system. Oakwoods also has an excellent nature center, with a rescue Red-tail Hawk, and other exhibits. I recommend giving Oakwoods Metro Park a try.

This past weekend, we attended the Bash at Bishop, which they host every year, and we had an absolute blast. It was the perfect way to kick off summer with bouncy houses, face painting, balloon animals, fun games, hot dogs, snow cones, and cotton candy galore! My little ones were especially excited to check out the fire truck, ambulance, and police car and even a race car! They couldn't stop smiling. There were also prize giveaways, live music, and a band playing to bring the whole community together. And the best part? It's all FREE. Just an incredible event at a park that already checks all the boxes for our family. Even without the event, Bishop Park is a gem we visit regularly. Can't recommend it enough for families looking for a fun, clean, and scenic place to spend the day.

Younger children won't be able to fully utilize the space as some monkey bars and larger step ladders are the only way to access some of it. The second area is for ages 2-5 it looks like and was actually pretty cool. They had a slide, some musical toys like built in drums, some plastic slide toys and a much smaller climbing ramp. They also have a few swings.

Such a great place to visit whether it's for a hike or a bike ride through the lush trails or a nice picnic. Regardless of your choice you can't go wrong or be disappointed. It cost $10 a car for entry and $8 for the pool. We were there for HOURS! (Trying to tire out a 5 yr old lol) There is this great slide that didn't make me sick that led into 4 inches of water so you have to hold the little ones. There is also a couple of basketball courts to play with in the water where both small and big kids enjoy playing. The water park we went to was for small children no more than 4 feet. Was not aware of the wave pool until after we left and I looked at the map. Lol. Well I hope to see you guys there. Until then my friends keep YELPING!

For being a Metro Golf Course, it's decently kept…read more Our golf group brought us to this park golf course, as it is not too far from Canton or far from my SIL's work. It's located not too far off from 94 and by 275. Not a far jog from home for us either. It was a nice for us and not a hot day for golfing. Its $16/pp for walking 9 holes or about $25/pp for a cart. Our foursome wanted to get in a walk. It's one of the nicer metro park courses I have been too in a while. The holes are pretty easy though. The course in general was quite open and there is not a lot of foliage or obstacles in the way. Allows for any kind of swing or slices.

If you time it right, you'll be treated to the beautiful bells of St. Mary's Catholic Church chiming out the hour. Take a stroll across the covered pedestrian bridge. It is screened and fenced in so safe for all. Bicycles can be walled across. When the river is running fast you can stand in the middle of the bridge and get your brave on! Its exciting. The park features plenty of trees for shade, restrooms, playground equipment and picnic tables.
