Mickey's seems to be well maintained and the staff is always friendly. Prices are very reasonable and if you add the putting green to your experience, you can use the grass range! There are some covered areas but most of it is in the sun. I decided about a month ago that I was going to try to learn golf I took my first ever lesson from Steve. He was great! There was a great balance of stories, explanation and instruction. I wasn't even holding the club correctly, so he fixed that right away! What a difference! You can find many trails, picnic areas, boat launches and nature reserve area. The trails are kept up nicely as well as the grounds. They offer so many picnic areas with tables and large grass areas for large gatherings. Another great offering here is the public wave pool open during the summer. I can't count how many times I've been here with friends and family. Next to the pool area is a tot-lot for smaller children to play. A surprise for me was the bald eagle located in the park. They have it by the Marshlands Museum and Nature Center. This is a wonderful learning experience and sight for any age. Annual passes are offered which is a great deal for frequent visitors. Otherwise it's $7 for a day pass.

There's safety town, with a bike path and small buildings that form a small town for the youngins to play. There's a HUGE sandbox, although it sometimes has animal droppings, so enter at your own risk. There is a large assortment of swings, both in quantity and variety. There are the normal swings and baby swings, but they also have the special needs children swings. There is also a large group swing. Off to the side, between the swings and safety town, is a toddler specific playscape. It's perfect for little ones. The main attraction though is the ginormous playscape. And while it's large, my 3 year old happily plays on it for hours, so it's not TOO big. There's probably 6 slides (I can only see 4 from my current spot on the bench), a rope bridge, swing bridge, hideouts underneath, and a variety of ways to climb up. There's also a scavenger hunt and other little activities, if you can keep their focus. There is a lovely splash pad here as well, but it's a separate location on Yelp. There are ample benches around for parents watching their children play. The ground is soft under some turf and there is a good amount of mature trees providing shade from the sun. Lockers are available and there are bathrooms. However, both times I've used the bathrooms, they've been NASTY. I'm sure I'm forgetting something, but you get the idea. If you're downriver and have kids, this is a must-stop-spot.

The day we came their internet was down so if you didn't have cash or buy tickets in advance you couldn't get in. The park was clean and well maintained and there's a ton of attractions to explore. This place was fantastic!…read more The tip I got and would pass on is to purchase your tickets online. The longest wait was to get into the parking lot, despite signs saying they were at capacity with the exception of online tickets. Everything was magnificent! They have lifejackets available. Bring your own chairs if you want a place to put your stuff and all the lawn chairs are taken. They have tubes to use for the wave pool and lazy River. Outside food is not allowed but I would recommend finding a way to bring it in because I would have purchased meals for my family at the concession stand but there were long lines all day and once it finally died down I realized why... they ran out of all the food-food (they still had bags of chips). If you're not going to allow outside food, you need to be able to accommodate guests! Yes, they allow you to leave and come back same-day but do I really want to get in my hot car where my skin sticks to the seats, while wearing a wet bathing suit just to find the closest fast food? No, not really. I would rather pack sandwiches and leave in the car or whatever. Plenty of people brought grills to set up outside the gates, so I would consider that in the future. There are so many awesome things about this place, that I look forward to returning next year!

We were lucky to visit arboretum during this time on our trip to Ann Arbor. The peony garden can be reached in two locations. The best parking is near Ronald McDonald House of Charity Ann Arbor. That parking lot gets you direct access to the garden. The other parking near Nichols Drive and go the entrance by taking the first right trail to the top and reach the garden. The garden has 28 bed of flower beds. Each bed has the name of flower indicated. During the blooming time, there are a lot of visitors. Parking may be full. The flower is beautiful and the pedal open wide and bright. I got my peony moment during my visit. Some flower has fragrances smell. So don't forget to smell the flowers during your visit.

There is a lot of green everywhere and soo many different flowers (especially the peonies before they were vandalized)!! We parked in the back where it is about a 15-20 min walk to the peonies. It was a nice and mostly shaded walk. We even saw a new bird (Great Crested Flycatcher)! I think it's only worth coming for the peonies but otherwise, it's free (unless you park in the front and then you have to pay).
