I like to bird watch and saw a cool Wood Ducks in the water, a tree swallow, and a swan! You can also stop by the water (very close to the shore) in the short hike at least 3 times and see some turtles. And there are many chipmunks and some other birds along the path. And there are a lot of people canoeing or kayaking on the water.

Great park for distance running - when I was training for a half marathon, I would come here for anywhere from 3-8 mile runs. I actually typically like parking at the boat launch entrance off Geddes, but there is plenty of parking at the main entrance as well. It's just a little bit of a quieter entrance to the park. Over the last couple of years, they've had some fantastic art displays there as well. Very dog friendly, kid friendly, bike friendly, all of the above! Tends to be one of the busier parks, but for good reason.

I would like to share with you the wonderful people, Cherry and family that own this Livery and campground. I have camped all over the United States, and few campgrounds have family's so willing to make sure you have the best experience possible. This is rustic camping and very peaceful so much so id like to keep it a secret for myself, but that would be selfish and not fair to the owners not to share. The fishing is good also. I have caught many different types of fish in the River Raisin ranging from Pike to GIANT Catfish and everything in-between. Not to mention personal training on how to operate a kayak for the first time. LOL.... I can't say enough about this Livery and my experience's it's been truly wonderful, I'll see you this summer. That is what we get after paying over $11,000 for a boat in Michigan that has only been driven less than a handful of times? Think twice before going here and get a clear warranty if you do. They may not be there when you need them.

However, the person felt it would of been too painful to revisit since his partner passed. He was still under contract to pay the dues. He made an inquiry and received a subsequent letter that was in-humane in my opinion. There were no condolences, the letter was not even signed. It was cold and factual in underlying his remaining financial responsibilities. Wow, this is how you treat your members who have been in good standing? Wow, this is what we have come to? Money over people no matter what. I find this a sad statement towards an organization with a long history. I find myself at a lost for words. No, I would not endorse such an organization whose priority is cash over compassion.

Most of the employees are quite friendly & helpful (although today as I returned my kayak, I encountered a very grumpy, sassy one--hmph). Anyway, I love that they make it so easy for you to get out on the river on a nice day and get a good upper body workout. $14/single person kayak for 2 hours, which is enough time to make it to the dam on the still water trip and back (2 miles one-way). Not bad!

They kindly pointed us to the harbor master building by the pool. We walked by and we're very impressed with the beautiful pool and view. We walked around the building and didn't see the restroom door. We asked one of the young men working there and he walked us around to the side we missed and showered us the restroom door (clearly marked just opposite the harbor master side ) It was refreshing to be greeted by such professional and well mannered young man who didn't just tell us where to go but walked us there ! While we aren't members my husband and I were very impressed with the club, people and beautifully kept grounds !! Would love to return by boat to enjoy meeting with others at this club !

The…read moreclubhouse provided a nice place to hang out before we left for our ride, and I was quite happy to find a changing table in the restroom for the baby (because a go-fast boat does not provide anywhere nice to change a diaper). The drinks were quite tasty, the free popcorn kept me thirsty and everyone was friendly. Although I don't understand all the details, our friend says they have pretty good rates for docking a boat there for the summer (resulting in a 'membership'). He did warn that when the wind is blowing a certain way, the water around the docks gets very shallow, so you'd need to be very careful getting in and out from the lake in the shallow channel.

Instead it was a labyrinth of climbing and going in and out of wooden towers. It was difficult to follow along as I'm 6'2, 200. I barely fit in some of the spaces. But the kids had fun and had no issue at full speed. There is also a splash pad about 100ft away.
