I'll give it to Brownstown, they really know how to build an excellent playground. My toddler is…read morealways asking for the "big playground" because it's the biggest around, that I know of anyways. There's safety town, with a bike path and small buildings that form a small town for the youngins to play. There's a HUGE sandbox, although it sometimes has animal droppings, so enter at your own risk. There is a large assortment of swings, both in quantity and variety. There are the normal swings and baby swings, but they also have the special needs children swings. There is also a large group swing. Off to the side, between the swings and safety town, is a toddler specific playscape. It's perfect for little ones. The main attraction though is the ginormous playscape. And while it's large, my 3 year old happily plays on it for hours, so it's not TOO big. There's probably 6 slides (I can only see 4 from my current spot on the bench), a rope bridge, swing bridge, hideouts underneath, and a variety of ways to climb up. There's also a scavenger hunt and other little activities, if you can keep their focus. There is a lovely splash pad here as well, but it's a separate location on Yelp. There are ample benches around for parents watching their children play. The ground is soft under some turf and there is a good amount of mature trees providing shade from the sun. Lockers are available and there are bathrooms. However, both times I've used the bathrooms, they've been NASTY. I'm sure I'm forgetting something, but you get the idea. If you're downriver and have kids, this is a must-stop-spot.

Great park with good, convenient amenities…read more There are bathrooms close by, lockers for storage, and a splash pad that's open Memorial Day through Labor Day. There is a large walled-in sand pit and a huge playscape that has lots of climbing and tunnels. Great free fun for the kids if you live in or near Brownstown Township.

They took a bad park and made it horrible. The park used to: Flood Have bad mosquitos 2 playgrounds Lots of run down equipment A walking path. They removed the playgrounds and replaced it with half of a new one that I could have built with 4 2x8s and some PVC pipe and plastic. They added a bathroom/dog wash that's been closed every time I've been there. A fence that splits the park in half and destroys the walking path. So now you have HALF a park that: Floods Has bad mosquitos Lost the walking path Lost the playgrounds Still has run down equipment. This city is horrible. This park is horrible. They should be ashamed.

It has a paved walking path around the perimeter and some playground equipment that is in dire need of TLC. They had an accessible friendly playscape but removed it at the end of last summer and are building a restroom pavilion. Avoid the park at all costs after a rainstorm during the spring / summer due to the mosquitos because they will literally carry you out of their park. We've also had a few run ins with dogs off leash which is frustrating. This park is slated for upgrades in the coming years.

They had tennis courts for pickle ball and a good open field for volleyball, corn hole and fowling. There were about 6 rows of about 4 side by side picnic tables under the shelter. We needed the shelter while eating since it down poured some today. There is a small parking by the tennis court and school, another on the other side of the playscape and a bigger one by the school, but it was under construction.

There is also a paved walking/jogging trail. The covered pavilions have picnic tables under it, but I do not think there are any grills. You will have to bring your own. The park appears kind of old and is relatively maintained. It could use some lawn care. The two play grounds are on opposite ends of the park from each other, along with the pavilions. One play ground has older equipment. The other new playground (by the high school) is bigger and has more modern equipment. It has a huge jungle gym with slides, bridges, and poles. There is also a set of modern swings, a set of regular swings, and a dome climber over there as well. The older playground has a very small metal slide (ouchhhh, on those hot summer days), and two sets of worn swings that have seen better days. As an added bonus, the park has a couple of restroom facility and paved paths that could be used for walking. They are not very long so you would probably get bored running up and down them. The baseball/softball fields are world class and have lights. I think they are used for Allen Park rec league ball mostly, but can be rented. The same goes for the inline-skate rink. The park is located in the backyard of Allen Park High School and I found it hard to differentiate what facilities belonged to the park and which belonged to the school. This is a nice park and definitely worth a visit or planning a special event at. Whether it be a baseball tournament, tennis match, picnic, party, or walking your dog. It has tons of stuff to do.
