It has two large playgrounds, one on each end. a lot of green area, some soccer fields, a splash pad and some baseball/softball fields. The side of the park off of Conant Street seems pretty new. They have a new covered pavilion, nice new playground equipment and still working on the the lighting and grass. There is also a lot of green space over on that side as well. The pavilion is nice and has picnic tables under there. The playground has wood chips on the floor and has a nice see-saw, a small jungle gym, a saucer swing and some regular swings. The Charles Street side is where the softball/baseball fields are located and the splash pad. There is also a couple of pavilions over there with picnic tables under them, a restroom facility and the soccer field. That side also has a playground. It has decent equipment. The splash pad is very nice and has a bench you can sit and watch the kiddos frolic. It operates from 11AM to 7PM, in season. The playground is lined with wood chips and has a swing set and a nice jungle gym with slides. There are benches there too. There is an area with picnic tables that are covered by a neat canopy a little further out from the playground. It is very trendy and looks pretty new and neat. You cant miss the bathroom over there it is very colorful. The fields seem well maintained and there are paved paths that make a decent walking/jogging trail. The park has benches and square picnic tables throughout. This is a pretty cool park. It is somewhat calm and peaceful and has a lot to offer. You can bring the kids to the playground, jog around, walk your dog, play in the fields, frolic in the splash pad or just kick back and relax.

We thankfully found a spot on the street but one biker's car got parked behind closely so they asked us to move up a little (we parked in front of them) so they could load their car. During the warm weather months there is a snack bar with a covered patio area. As an added bonus their is a bike rack with bike repair tools available, restrooms and a stocked soda machine on the patio area. The park is well maintained and clean. In the warm months this place turns into a small waterpark with a schooner-themed splash pad featuring water cascades and "kid activated" water cannons, wind chimes and many other interactive features. I visited this place during the colder months so it was pretty dead, but tranquil and peaceful. Nice to just sit on the waterfront and watch the river. In the summer it looks like this place would be bustling, post COVID of course. As it is now, it is still a cool place to hang out, ride your bike and catch a run. All in all, I enjoyed my time at the park and look forward to visiting again real soon.

And inexplicably, there's also an old cannon. But what really matters is the DIY skatepark, built in an unused tennis court Burnside-style, asking forgiveness vs. permission (does any tennis court ever actually get used anyway?). It's a mix of rough concrete over cinder block and wood forms, interspersed with a bunch of other wooden boxes, benches, bars, banked walls, etc. It's got a giant crack running through the middle of the flatground, and the metal edging that serves as coping on all the boxes and paved ramps/quarter pipes is sharp and sticky. There's a crazy pink pump bump that barely meets the ground. Extra plywood and cinder blocks strewn by the edges. Parking blocks set atop an irregular spine, and an almost-smooth bank/quarter (a lot of the transitions here are to be found nowhere else). It's punk as fuck, and totally gnarly. The park might be free, but the price of admission is blood. Be prepared for a burly street session, trying not to constantly eat shit. I love our smooth-as-butter skatepark in Ann Arbor, but I also love this brutally-hardcore Ypsi setup. Hurts so good!

This is the same park that usually hosts the Shakespeare in the park every year, except this year. It's most tranquil by the dense trees since there are less clusters of people in those parts. :) Come and get a much needed respite from the house and enjoy a bit of nature with a picnic at this park and a bit away from the playground area, if you want some quiet and peace. Look for the Zero Mile Marker on the ground - Seven Mile and Eight Mile are precisely seven and eight miles from this spot, respectively. It was originally a militia drill ground back in the 1800s and the First Michigan Infantry Regiment departed from Campus Martius in 1861 for the Civil War.
