They were resurfaced about 3 years ago and still look brand new. But, that is because they are completely unplayable. Whoever resurfaced those courts left air pockets that substantially effect play on all four courts. If you are a 3.0 player or above I would recommend finding another place to play. The problem for us GP Park residents is that they converted the Patterson Park courts to Pickleball courts leaving us without a playable tennis court in all of GPP. It is crying shame that those managing a park system like ours cannot find a solution to this problem.

I still remember as a kid swimming around the adult pool when it wasn't adult time and watching this bigger guy we all lovingly called Boblo boat swim around the perimeter of the pool by using his hands as wheel to pedal around the pool and do his laps. It was also the first time I saw the fool horror of the red Speedo from the slicked backer tall guy that would walk around proudly by the pool, only taking a dip to cool off some. This is where I took my tennis lessons as a kid. This is where I learned to fish over by the harbor piers. They have improved the community center and it's now a nice Tompkin's center and a great communal spot to watch movies. It's great for renting for parties and gatherings. I don't live in GPP any more but I have many friends that still do and thus I still am able to visit this wonderful park that holds so many fond childhood memories for me.

Love the fact they had gluten free options and a little bit of everything you can think of snack food wise. We got a cheeseburger and fries and a lemonade. We then ate lunch by the clubhouse and took a walk on the boat docks and up to the tower view area to see the lake better. During our walk we saw a mama duck with 4 babies and a turtle sunbathing! We had a wonderful time and highly recommend taking the kids there if possible!

Have a small beach area and a nice harbor. The pool is also a good size and they have a kitty pool area as well. Lots of picnic tables and places together with friends and family on the weekends or in the afternoon or whenever. I still come here every summer with my brother and his family. The kids still enjoy playing in the pool and adventuring around the park. There's lots to see and do. I wish they had the kiddie area when I was a little kid. There was an Ofrenda set up to pay homage to those who have passed. There were a few vendors selling crafts (think day of the dead headbands, ponchos, etc...) There was an arts and crafts table for the little and someone giving away pieces of bread. The dancers rolled out in traditional Mexican dress and danced away! If the kids lose interest, no fear- there's a playground right there! Also, so is Canada... in the distance. A nice way to experience the riverwalk in Detroit. It has two large playgrounds, one on each end. a lot of green area, some soccer fields, a splash pad and some baseball/softball fields. The side of the park off of Conant Street seems pretty new. They have a new covered pavilion, nice new playground equipment and still working on the the lighting and grass. There is also a lot of green space over on that side as well. The pavilion is nice and has picnic tables under there. The playground has wood chips on the floor and has a nice see-saw, a small jungle gym, a saucer swing and some regular swings. The Charles Street side is where the softball/baseball fields are located and the splash pad. There is also a couple of pavilions over there with picnic tables under them, a restroom facility and the soccer field. That side also has a playground. It has decent equipment. The splash pad is very nice and has a bench you can sit and watch the kiddos frolic. It operates from 11AM to 7PM, in season. The playground is lined with wood chips and has a swing set and a nice jungle gym with slides. There are benches there too. There is an area with picnic tables that are covered by a neat canopy a little further out from the playground. It is very trendy and looks pretty new and neat. You cant miss the bathroom over there it is very colorful. The fields seem well maintained and there are paved paths that make a decent walking/jogging trail. The park has benches and square picnic tables throughout. This is a pretty cool park. It is somewhat calm and peaceful and has a lot to offer. You can bring the kids to the playground, jog around, walk your dog, play in the fields, frolic in the splash pad or just kick back and relax.
