We absolutely love coming to Robert C. Valade Park. It's such a unique spot along the RiverWalk and there's always something to do. The kids have a blast at the playground, playing in the sand, and we usually end up hanging out inside for a picnic while borrowing one of the games they have available. There always seems to be a food truck around, which is a nice bonus, and the new barge serving drinks with its little seating area is such a fun addition. The bathrooms are clean and well maintained. Even in the winter this park is worth visiting because they have sleds available, making it fun year-round. This place keeps getting better every time we visit, and it's become one of our favorite family spots in Detroit. read more

Dia De Los Muertos 2024 Review: A beautiful Saturday along the waterfront. Limited parking available, with a paid lot just a short walk away. There was an Ofrenda set up to pay homage to those who have passed. There were a few vendors selling crafts (think day of the dead headbands, ponchos, etc...) There was an arts and crafts table for the little and someone giving away pieces of bread. The dancers rolled out in traditional Mexican dress and danced away! If the kids lose interest, no fear- there's a playground right there! Also, so is Canada... in the distance. A nice way to experience the riverwalk in Detroit. Pro tip: there is a brewery at the end of the block! (Atwater) read more

I love this park. The events they host are unique and fun. There's something to do year-round whether it's hot or cold outside. The playground area has sand so kids can play on the structures and also make sand castles. There's a sledding hill with sleds available on site for use (for free). There is an indoor area to either warm up in the winter or cool off in the summer. They serve food inside, though have never had the food there. There is a bar available with adult beverages as well as pop and hot chocolate. Great views of the water and Canada as well! read more

This is one truly incredible park right in the heart of the Detroit Riverfront and managed so beautifully by the Riverfront Conservancy! The Detroit Riverwalk and Detroit River as a whole is one of the most wonderful and unique places within the state of Michigan and I jump at any and every chance I get to spend time here. Valade Park is my new go-to given all there is to do here! There is a small indoor restaurant/bar area, playgrounds for the kids, and just so much space to walk along the river and soak in the views of Canada on the other side! There are high top firepits that you can roast marshmallows and eat s'mores over and just so much more. They often hold events at Valade and I recently came here for the Lunar New Year event! It was absolutely incredible and just one of many examples of what cool stuff can be held and experienced here! Valade Park has something to offer in each and every season throughout the year and I can't wait to check out all the wonderful activities and experiences here for many many years to come! read more

This is a great park to visit! I was impressed by it's beauty. There's much to offer along the Detroit River when weather permits. This park is spacious with plenty of seating, playscapes for children and lots of fun for adults as well. There is a nice view of the water. The shed there has bathrooms, and it's secure with park staff. The shed offers space for events of various types. Currently there is a bar with cocktails and Smokey G's barbecue. There were also food trucks parked on the street when I visited. It's adjacent to Chene Park, so it's nice for pregaming before concerts. It closes at 10pm nightly. read more

Robert C. Valade is the newest park along the East Riverfront and a good start point if you plan to take a walk or jog along the riverwalk. Free parking is directly across the park and restaurant area. I haven't tried any of the restaurants yet. I see that Geisha Girls Sushi and Smokey G's Smokehouse are at the park and a few people were enjoying their meal outside. The park has a beach, lots of chairs and benches, outdoor fireplaces, and a Sled Shed with free sleds in the winter. This is an underutilized park. Whenever I go for a walk there is hardly anyone here. The East Riverfront is beautiful and I plan to come here more often for walks in the spring and summer. read more

Situated on Detroit's Riverfront this park has a little something for all ages. Kids will love the play scape and sand pit. There are also games available inside the community space. Grownups will love the convenient parking (free lot across the street). Folks 21+ can enjoy the consession stand that sells alcoholic beverages. They also host a considerable amount of programming events during all four seasons! Definitely recommend it for all! read more

This is a beautiful and full park! So much to see and do, and the area is really beautiful. I've been to concerts at the Aretha Franklin Amphitheater, and it's always been a wonderful experience. I can't wait to go back! read more

A nice smaller section by the river front - this is actually my first time being back down there since they remodeled it and it looks great. Smaller parking area but they do have private parking necks to the area for $6 - we didn't really realize the free parking until the end. honestly I like this area a little bit more because it's less crowded but maybe because they're also was doing a little construction down there as well so that's probably why it wasn't a ton of people in this area. Plenty of seats available not too many shaded areas away from the food area - there seem to be a lot of bee activity around the bridge area near the water so be careful if you're allergic. Brand new park addition to the Riverfront from the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy. Bathrooms are new, clean, and well maintained. The beach and children's area are well done offering a lot of play opportunities. I really like the different musical instrument play stops. There is a covered seating area and refreshment area. Drinking g fountains and water bottle refill station to hydrate. There are many outdoor seating options with umbrellas to get some shade from the direct sun. Please stop in and enjoy the views of the river! read more

This park is 5 stars but when people are using the pavilion and playing their music for the whole park to enjoy and it's filled with obscenities it's a one star park. Music like this has a time and place and a park filled with kids isn't it. The ambassadors and bicycle cops ignore it which is disappointing. read more

Great place .Great family place to get together the food choices are good as well .St. Louis barbecue and Geisha Girl serve up mouthwatering dishes .The park is clean and well-maintained I highly recommend this park as a Gem of Detroit.I have attended several events at the park.
