Ok so I know this isn't a business, but I still want to review this underrated gem in Eastpointe…read more Spindler Park is a very well maintained, safe, and pretty park with three pavilions, a jungle gym for kids, a soccer field, a sledding/climbing hill, tennis courts, horseshoe courts, shuffleboard, and disc golf. They also have bathrooms in the summer and port-a-potties in the winter. There is a walking trail for you and your (leashed) dog that measures about 1/4 mile (I think). Plenty of picnic tables and shade, and water fountains by the bathrooms. At the if the summer last year I was lucky enough to catch the butterfly migration south and I must have seen a few hundred in the trees beyond the soccer field where the disc golf route extends. It was magical. Overall, a great, safe park to get outside and spend some time.

This park does not have as many features is the other Park such as Kennedy Park but nonetheless it's a great little city park. Like I posted in the photos during hunting season I come here and collect acorns for the deer. They're in the summer a lot of events are held here. Last summer my Cub Scout Pack 1909 had to camp out here I felt very safe and secure and there was even an indoor restroom available to use they also offer a nice Pavilion with electricity if you were to have a family reunions and or picnic here. There's also a nice little walking trail and even a huge pills to go sledding on in the winter if I remember correctly they do have a small play area for the kiddos as well. Nice place to go walk your dog and relax.

Turns out construction had Clinton River road shut down in the area of this park and honestly it didn't seem like any great loss. I mostly wanted a return visit mainly cause this place wasn't all that memorable apart from the bugs being really bad. I've taken to rolling with bug spray in my ride and thought I had applied it pretty liberally but the mosquitoes were still just feasting on me. I posted some pics of here last year but never bothered to review it til now so you know, what does that tell you? The trails here go quite a long way actually but aren't delineated well at all so it's hard to tell if you're on a trail or not. I mean, the park is a long winding strip of land that basically just follows the river so the trails usually do the same but sometimes they just peter off or look like they branch off in one direction or another with neither looking adequate. Canal Park is a little respite from endless suburbia but if you can drive aways Dodge Park is much nicer with a similar Clinton River setting and less voracious insect life. I kind of envy the person who came here in February. They did say it was a pretty warm day for then so I don't imagine there was a pretty blanket of snow over everything but a winter hike here does sound somewhat appealing. No bugs then! Construction should be done by then, too. If I'm out here when snow makes it look like a winter wonderland I might just give Canal Park another shot.

Also, right off the pathway I saw tons of poison. If someone was walking towards us, we had to scoot to one side but I did not step i to any of the grassy areas because of all the poison. Another major issue was the tons and tons of mosquitos biting us all over and our dogs. If you do decide to walk through the trails, be sure to pack some spray with you. Another issue we had when we came was this young couple swimming and they had their dog with them. They did not put their dog on a leash. It ran and jumped out of the brush and tried to attack both of my dogs. The couple were too busy making out and didnt even try to grab the dog. Just be aware of your surroundings.

I visited this park recently for a relax solo moment and for a afternoon walk I also found myself excited by how much I truly enjoyed it. The walking trails are well-maintained and also run alongside water, offering a beautiful view especially in the early evening. You'll find a walking, jogging, and even a relaxed bike ride. The natural landscape provides tons of photo-worthy spots. Number one thing is don't expect a playground or bathrooms at the entrance. it's clearly designed for people who enjoy quiet outdoor times. Me personally, my favorite part is for sure the serenity. It does not feel loud or crowded, it's a great place to clear your head, even journal, or enjoy some solo time. I would say one small area that can use some improvement could be better trail entrances, especially for first time visitors. I do recommended Clinton River North Park for a great park attraction, it's calm atmosphere and natural beauty. I truly believe it's worth visiting.

It's called the Tunnel of Lights with food trucks and hot coco stand. They even have a few igloos and multiple fire pits to keep visitors toasty. Sadly I wasn't a big fan of Memorial Park. In my opinion, this park is more set up for…read moreworkers/employees in the area to take their breaks, and enjoy the outside. If you want a pretty outdoor area to enjoy during your lunch, this is perfect! There are plenty of tables, and a small, short, path to walk along the river. I will note that I didn't notice any public restrooms in the area. If you are looking to hike trails, and feel like you escaped from the city into nature, this is not the place. It does have a couple spots with a beautiful view, but paths/sidewalks mostly lead you around the local neighborhood and business area. The graffiti tunnel is disappointing. Honestly, I feel like the city is missing out on a great opportunity to utilize the tunnel, it could help encourage community engagement with local artists, or maybe an art contest. Give the city the chance to re-design it in a yearly competition. It could even be specifically targeted for graffiti artists, if preferred. As of now though, it's just a bunch of ugly scribbles and insults written on the walls of the tunnel. I will say overall that the park was well kept and clean. You can find an available bike repair station, if you need it while passing through, and there is a really nice drop off for kayaks and canoes. The parking lot is small, but the park is tiny, so it works. There is a second small lot, just West of the park, that you can park in when using the drop off point. Overall, it's a pretty, small, city park. Great for a quick sit, but not for an adventure.
