Marination was an interesting place. I like this place. I want to love it though! I love fusion food. From their layout that requires you to go in through one door and walk the entire length of the place to get to the beginning of the line with the cashier, to the sometimes awkward exchanges between the people working (that you can't ignore because you're right there in front of them), to how expensive some of the food is for what you get (but I get it, it's downtown Seattle by all the Amazon buildings). The aloha tots are pretty much what I've zeroed in on. Everything else just feels so overpriced to me as I need to spend $20-25 to get full while elsewhere I can spend almost half that. read more

I worked down the street and find myself craving for some tacos with tangy slaw and their FIRE TATOR TOTS! I'm addicted to them. I usually get the Spicy Pork tacos or the Kalbi. They're both served with crunchy slaw and doubled up thin soft shells. Each taco is about $2.50 or $3 if you order online for pick-up. I love the seasoning they use for the tator tots, highly recommend it and if you think you might not like it you can get a pocket size for $2.50. A regular size is $5 I think. For me, I find 2 tacos with tots enough for lunch. Next time I'm going to try their plated lunch. I didn't see it on the menu while there but I found it online for mobile ordering? Still confused so I might ask next time. Anyway, great place for lunch. They have outdoor seating. Tables of 2-4 and there's about 5-6 tables in front. This is a great place to grab a quick lunch on the go. The place was packed on a Friday at lunch but I still got my food within 10 minutes of walking in. Ordered for pickup cause Covid, not sure if they allow people to eat in. Got the Spicy Pork Taco, Kalbi Beef taco, Aloha Slider, and Aloha tots. First off, the smell is sooo amazing. As soon as I got a hold of my bag I felt an animalistic urge to rip it open and devour all its contents right there and then but managed to control my impulses and got to my car. I completely threw out my plans of driving to a nearby park for a nice lil picnic setup and started munching there and then in my car. The tacos had great flavor, very complex layering of flavors with tender juicy meat and crunchy pickled jalapeños. The only drawback I would say is that the tortillas were very undercooked so it was a weird combo of very delicious food eaten on a thin piece of cardboard. Cook your tortillas thoroughly! The aloha slider was not doing it for me. Compared to the tacos, it was just very flat and uninspiring. Was bummed cause this was the dish I was most looking forward to. The aloha tots were, AMAZING. Delicious carbs topped with Korean spiced Katsu meat, chives and I think mayo? I can't recall but it doesn't matter because my tastebuds will forever cherish that epic mix of flavors. There's also standing room inside if you want to eat at the bar. The tacos sounded good, but I wasn't really feeling finger food after being on public transit, so I went with the kimchi fried rice with "sexy tofu" (yes, I refused to order it by name because it did not make me feel sexy saying it). Served with a sunny-side-up egg, green onion, and furikake. It was a monumental amount of food for one person! My husband and I could have shared one order and been satisfied. Absolutely love this spot! I went to the location in SLU but I hear the West Seattle location offers incredible water/skyline views too. It's on the corner of 6th and Lenora and has both nice indoor and outdoor dining. The staff is also very friendly and generous! I've been there twice and they've always given me an extra taco out of the blue. I've ordered the Beef Kalbi and Ginger Miso Chicken tacos and both were incredible. While they are loaded with toppings, the meat, sauce, and veggies blend together perfectly, so I highly recommend it. They are fairly sizeable portions too, so definitely great for sharing! A cute little shop with a lot of street parking nearby! It's very small inside with only a couple bar seating and outdoor tables, so we decided to just take it back home. After ordering, it took a while to get our food as they were busy making other orders before us, which certainly shows they make everything to order and don't let things sit. Everything is on the smaller side, but they fill you up without feeling too heavy. I really enjoyed both the spam sliders and the fish tacos! My cousin got the aloha tots to share with everyone and those were definitely very delicious, but tots always feel more oily to me than any other type of fried potato. I don't think I could order them for myself but will happily share with others! I'd like to try more menu items next time, but it's such a difficult decision when the items you already tried are so good and you'd go back just for those! Small space and smaller menu than makai location but decent enough selection to satisfy the hunger pangs. Went with the aloha tots which was hit the spot. Yo my friend has been trying to get me go to this place for like 3 years and something about him saying "fusion restaurant" turned me off every time. Some how I ended up stoned and car-less downtown and it ended up being either trying something new or going to McDonald's... I'm never going to choose McDonald's. Came by the downtown location of Marination for lunch the other day and we just beat the crowd. Entrance is on one side but you order on the other side, so the layout is a bit strange. Anyways, pretty straightforward menu so choose something and order it. My buddy was hungry as a bear, so he got 2 sliders and the kimchi quesadilla. He enjoyed it very much and was very full afterwards. I decided to get the "Aloha Tots" because I love me some tots! Tots all day for me! For 8 bucks, it was a larger portion than I anticipated. Good helping of crispy crunchy tots, with their Kalua pork sprinkled over it, Japanese mayo, fried egg, green onions and their kimchi sauce. Popped that egg yolk and I dove into it. Quite tasty and would totally get again! Super filling and I was only able to eat half of it. Definitely an item that you could share with others. Staff was friendly, they work hard to get your orders cranked out and will call your name when your food is ready. Not much seating, just some stools along the window. Pricing is pretty good for what you get. They have some Happy Hour options from 2pm-5pm as well. Glad to have come by and this place will be on my radar for lunch options. read more
