Typical pizza joint. Requested Penne alla Vodka with Chicken Parmesan. Penne came with a "pink" sauce, no Alla Vodka and Chicken Parm, although HUGE, tasted like frozen pieces of breaded chicken. Barely warm and a quick fix. Could only eat a sliver of it. Should have known better when called in order and they stated it would be ready WITHIN 10 minutes, especially ordering Chicken Parmesan. FRESH has NEVER been that fast. Plenty of parking, within a mini strip mall. One and done. read more

I used to love this place and I came there all the time with friends to get lunch and chill. Their food is great but their service is otherwise. We came in and ordered our food and went to sit down only to be told we can't have our coffee with us. This would normally be fine if they told us before we ordered or if their was posted signage but there was not. This has never happened before and I'm disappointed in them. This review is wayyy overdo! Marinara is one of those places that will forever be near and dear to my heart. Throughout the last two decades of my life that I've been eating here, I've always been really happy with the food, service, atmosphere, everything. The food is really very good and they have all the usuals that you'd expect from a pizzeria. Every slice is quality - regular, grandma, buffalo, Sicilian, you name it. They always have fresh slices even during "off peak" times - a lot of people come here so there is usually quick turnover with the food. The guys working behind the counter move fast and do not waste any time. Also, if they see that you're still waiting for a take out order that you called in, they'll remind the kitchen to hurry it up. Overall, great communicate among all the staff which translates to fantastic service. Much appreciated. I also love their chicken paninis, tortellini soup, and garlic knots. I have yet to try garlic knots that are better than Marinara's. Now lets talk about their chicken parm......... Ingredients are always fresh. Their sauce is something else. *currently drooling* My dad is the biggest critic because Italian/American food is *always* too bland for him but even he raves about Marinara's chicken parm. Also, the grilled chicken primavera is another favorite when I'm trying to be "healthy." So flavorful and comes with a lot of vegetables. I've come here for a quick bite to eat, takeout, or to dine in the restaurant section. I'd say Marinara is better than the Pizza Place (the other popular pizzeria in Hewlett) in terms of their kitchen food, restaurant atmosphere, and service. I would have given it 5 stars because the food was great as usual but it seems they are taking advantage of the pandemic to increase their prices. They added $2 to my tortellini alla panand a dollar to the sausage and pepper hero. Reading an earlier comment from another review and their food was increased also. This is most definitely taking advantage of a situation. Not sure if we'll be back or not and we've been long time customers. read more

I never wrote a review before but I felt compelled after my dinner tonight. I ordered a small Caesar salad w grilled shrimp-how could an Italian place ruin that so badly? I thought this is a universal dish we all know what to expect and what's not ok. First the small size salad w shrimp came to over $18. If it was good it's worth every penny. However what I received was definitely not grilled shrimp-it was rubbery, slimy, steamed maybe...I don't know but there's no way it was cooked in an oven. How could it not be that delicious grilled flavor w some lemon? Shrimp with the sear marks, just basic? FAIL! Also there were like 3 croutons, why? Be generous throw in a handful for the price and taste sake! Not even Parmesan flakes on top. Just very sad. I will not be returning. Dressing was ok. Focaccia bread was good. read more

After choking on a piece of hair in their pasta bolonese I found 2 more separate long hairs in the pasta. Lord knows how much more was in it. This place is truly falling off. I have eaten there a few times and the quality of food is definitely dying. I could understand a strand of hair being a mistake, but multiple longggg strands. What the hell!!! Are they not covering their heads while preparing the food. As required by law?!?! Not only do they need to tighten up but maybe it's time for the health department to visit them. I am very disappointed. I have been coming here for over 6 years and have only two bad experiences. Once coming in the early afternoon and getting a slice of old stale pizza. Went to Marinara for my 65th birthday. We were informed that they did not have waitstaff and all food was to be served in To-go plastic containers. We also were told that we would have to serve ourselves. Figured we'd stay anyway, food was good the one time we went there. Owner? brought out an avocado salad crushed into a small container. My friend commented that the salad looked terrible, which it did. Owner? looked at us gathered up the salad and told us to leave. Told him it was my birthday,said he didn't care and told us to leave. Food was fantastic. Service was great. Wife and I came here for our wedding anniversary. I had some fancy type of vegetable pizza with tomato basil sauce. I felt for $13.50 the pizza was very reasonable. I was able to shove four slices into my belly and then got full. My wifeorama ordered a house salad with added buffalo chicken. Like most places, it was delicious and my better half was quite satisfied. Unfortunately our dinner did not end well. They charge for refills on their soft drinks. I'm not sure if this applies to soda, but my unsweetened iced tea cost me $2.25 per fill up. This wasn't mentioned on any menu, by the waitress or anywhere really. I couldn't believe what I was seeing on the receipt. $6.75 for ice tea! That's a deal breaker for me. As much as I enjoyed the food, we will be driving to Garden City Park or East Meadow to Mama Theresa's for comparable food, slightly better meal prices, and most importantly: free refills. read more

We were a little skeptical at first to visit this restaurant but am I glad we took the risk! The restaurant is located in a small strip mall and I drove right past it looking for it. We went in and didn't realize it was a restaurant because in the front half is the pizza shop. Once past the counter, we were seated and by the look of things they're pretty popular. Once we had our bread, we were sold. Light garlic focaccia bread and Italian bread. The focaccia was great, my fiancé and I ended up fighting over it and taking some back to the hotel. I was worried about portion size as I've noticed in NY sometimes you pay big money for 3 bites of food, not a problem here! I ordered the Penne Madeira and my fiancé had the Rigatoni Fiorentina, BOTH were huge portions and absolutely delicious. We were pleasantly surprised with our incredible meals. I stayed at a hotel by JFK last night. Surprisingly, the food choices are very limited. My friend and I went here to get a combo pizza. It was huge. You can choose between Sicilian and Neopolitan. Sicilian is thick and rectangular, Neopolitan is thin and round. We chose the Sicilian. The crust was far too thick for my liking. The sauce was pretty flavorless and there were far too many vegetables that were cooked far too thick. The meat toppings were very good though. Overall, I was very disappointed in this pizza. I came to NY hoping to get some good pizza. I know that this wasn't NYC but I was still very disappointed. The service was very good though. The servers were very nice, prompt with ordering and bringing food out, and keeping water refilled. read more

Their sicilian is my personal favorite, and mirror's the traditional Gino's sicilian (or rather should I say the Original, traditional, Gino's pizza you would find at the Gino's in Elmont or Long Beach.) Every meal starts off with complimentary bread and they're always fresh. I always like to order their calamari--- it has the right amount of crisp to it. Yesterday when I ate with my family I shared a buffalo chicken brick-oven pizza. It's a little spicy, so I recommend asking for some blue cheese to dip it in. The size of the pizza was perfect for the both of us. My dad ordered a chicken roll and it was GREAT. For dessert, I decided to get a tartufo, which is ice cream with a chocolate coating. It wasn't too sweet surprisingly and the portion makes it shareable. This place always has great customer service and the bus boys are very attentive to tables so once you're done with your plate, it'll be removed in no time. Stopped in here on Saturday while heading to Cedarhurst and was very plesantly surprised. I ordered two slices and a Coke, but when he told me the pie would be out in a few minutes, I quickly changed my order to a Sicilian and a Grandma. Both had great crust...and I mean great. It was good to the point that I actually looked at as a child might examine an exquisite booger they just picked. The Grandma slice had a tangier sauce - possibly a result of the cheese. Again I had the Penne Madeira and it was just as flavorful as the first time I ordered it. I really like this place. Penne Vodka was delicious. Their bread is so delicious. The buffalo chicken, OMG... Was visiting NYC with a friend and he asked me what kind of food did I want to get. Growing up off East Flatbush before moving down to Florida, I didn't want Jamaican, Chinese, or Steak... I wanted a SLICE! Marinara did not disappoint at all. The crust was perfect, staff friendly and helpful and great interior. My only regret was because it was kinda late, I was getting it to go (Even though I did have a slice there) was that I didn't actually sit down and enjoy the ambiance. It's sad to see how this restaurant went down, from being one of the best restaurants in five towns with delicious pizza and Italian food to having some of the most repulsive food in town (this does not apply to their pizza). The pizza is still delicious, but everything else is subpar now. If you got to marinara, go for the pizza only, which is delightful. However, this is a full-blown restaurant so this review is based on their entrees and other dishes as well. If it was only a pizza shop, I would give them five stars. Entrees: They have watered down, flavorless risotto that is softer than tapioca pudding, the calamari arriabata (which used to be one of my favorite dishes there) should be renamed calamari acidic vinegar. The calamari fritti is now served soggy with too much salt. The salmon is over cooked and tough then drowned in a sauce that tastes more latin than Italian (I like Latin food too, but not mixed in my Italian food). The desserts are uninspiring. If you want a really shitty subpar meal that's not fit for human consumption, go to marinara. read more

Pasta- 4/5 Good pasta and entrees for a pizzeria! I go here only for the entrees and pasta. The entrees and pasta are much better than their pizza. Service- It varies from time to time, but overall it's good. Nothing worth complaining about. If you are in Hewlett or the Valley Stream area it's worth a try for their pasta and entrees. read more
