This is the first time since they sold that I ordered the meatballs and a round pie. I am a meatball snob. The meatballs were out of this world. Not hard and not soft. Just the right ratio meat to bread. Loaded with garlic. They could have cooked the garlic a few more minutes, because raw garlic in a meatball... The round pie was probably one of the best I ever had, yes way better than the old Ancona. The Cesar Salad with breaded chicken cutlet, would probably have been delish if the croutons weren't wet and soggy and the chicken was browned. You have to figure something better to package the salad in. If it wasn't all soggy, I would have given it 100% read more

Haven't been to this pizzeria in many many years. I was in the area and had to stop in. Glad I did. After 15 plus years of not having Ancona it's still as good as I remember. Had a regular slice and a Sicilian both excellent. I let George the owner know how great it still is and he split a grandma slice with me which is outstanding. He makes it differently than other pizzerias. He uses Fresh mozzarella , old school Italian pizza place. Reminds me of growing up in the 70's. Will be back for sure read more

the guy always at the front is very nice and he tries to go as quick as he can with the lunch rush. a big issue i have with this place is that tables are ALWAYS filthy. i never want to sit down at lunch which i enjoy to get out of the office. the tables and seats are greasy and dirty from the last person. they really need to go around frequently to clean the tables. kind of turns me off from eating. the pizza is good nothing to call home for but its good. i wish the buffalo slices were a little bit more filled and they removed the blue cheese its a little runny. maybe just ask customer if they want on the side. read more

Being new to an area I have found that local eats that most people swear by are never my thing. I normally think it's mass hypnosis and nostalgia that fuels the love but this was not it. I walked in on a Friday night and there was a colorful cast of characters behind the counter whipping up food and conversation. It's a very old school no frills spot, lots of pizza behind the counter, it's freshly made, the smells the sounds very old school feel. I was told to order a Sicilian Pizza with pepperoni well done. It's not my usual first order from an unfamiliar spot but I decided to order with garlic knots. I sat in a booth and hung out while the food was made soaking up the atmosphere of this old school pizzeria. Soon as my food was up it was boxed I paid and off I went to taste it. I looked at it and noticed the pepperoni curling cans crispy the cheese plentiful. The first bite immediately I tasted a buttery bottom to a cheese and safe with some spice coming from the pepperoni. I don't know if it was the hunger but three slices later I called it quits! The Garlic knots were freshly bathed in garlic before I received them. They were a nice add on with the pizza. It is some of the best pizza I have had since moving here and I'm excited to go back for more. 5/5 stars! If it matters it's cash only so so keep that in mind when ordering. read more

I have been searching for good pizza restaurant around this area. I heard Ancona was under new management so I gave it a try. I ordered Grandma Pie. It tasted ok but we found the pizza sauce tasted like pasta sauce. It had a lot of sliced onions in the sauce. That was surprising. The bottom of grandma pie was really soft. The sauce was spilling so much and it was mess. And again it tasted like pasta. My family and I, all thought "what are we eating?" And we were all laughing. Ancona is now under new management! Bennie and Tony are the new owners! Bennie has over 30 years in the Italian business. The food is incredible! I have been a local customer of the restaurant for 35 or more years. This has always been rated the premier pizza place in all of Long Island. I went there the other day and asked if they could make me a Stromboli. Not on the menu! The answer was yes and it was amazing! In my opinion Bennie will make anything as long as he has the ingredients. The ingredients used are all top quality, no cheeping out! This is one of my favorite places togo for pizza when in NY. The service is always good, but it's the pizza that I love. They have a full menu and I just can't remember the last time I ate anything other then the pizza. You can get slices. Also they have a nice variety of pies, under cooked, so when they heat in the oven the slices are perfect and ready to go. To day we just had a large pie with mushrooms, spinach and broccoli. Been in valley stream for 15 years and anconas pizzeria was always the best . The place was renovated but is still fly infested and pizza are horrible not very precentable and all burned the crust very hard and no flavor to the sauce the new owners defentley dont know anything about pizza read more

Ordered pizza late around 830 large half pepperoni half cheese and you can tell it was the pizza they sell by the slice that was made for a few hours and just threw pepperoni on top... not fresh at all read more

A handful of people told me that I needed to visit Ancona Pizzeria so coming in I had some high expectations. Upon walking in it looks like your typical neighborhood mom and pop pizzeria which made me even more excited because it's typical those types of pizzerias that deliver the most delicious slices around town. A couple buddies and I ordered 2 pies: the Pepperoni and the Grandma Sicilian. The pepperoni slices were delicious - the little boats were filled with spicy oil that made each bite provide a nice kick to it. The grandma slices were spot on with just enough cheese and enough sauce to give you that perfect harmonization. There service was quick despite it being the lunch rush on Sunday which surprised me. One thing of note, it's cash only so come with cash in hand and they also don't offer delivery. Regardless, the hype is real with Ancona and they deserve all the praise they get for being arguably the best pizzeria in Valley Stream. read more

Takeout tonight for us! Heard Ancona had great food and in the mood for Italian gave it a try. Glad I did! I got chicken lemons (as written on the menu). It's chicken with a light breading and in a white wine sauce. There was a nice slice of lemon and a great sauce for dipping the Italian bread they included! It comes with a side so I chose penne with the option of cheese- get it!!! Omg the pasta was a meal on its own and the cheese was perfectly draped on top and oven cooked to perfection. 2.5 stars at best. First time trying this place since I work about 5 minutes away. Grandma slice was delicious with some flavorful sauce and the Buffalo chicken slice was also good just wished the chicken was a bit on the crunchy side. My issue is that the workers in the back with their masks not on properly. I won't be back til maybe the pandemic is over. Edited to add that this place is cash only. read more

This place is wonderful. Its been a while since I been to an old school style pizzeria. The owner (I think was the owner) knew everyone's name and I thought that was so personable. Now to the Pizza.... I ordered a Cheese pie and half Grandma half Cheese pie. Those Grandma slices......lets just say I went there a week ago and I am still craving their Grandma Slices. The sauce on the grandma slice was very rich and flavorful. The mozzarella used was amazing. The regular cheese slice was just how I like Cheese slices. If someone asked me "what's your favorite place in Valley Stream to get pizza?", I would respond ANCONA in the Village. They make the best heroes (subs), veal cutlet Parmesan, and pepperoni pizza. The crust is thin and crisp, a sublime experience. Each sauce is uniquely flavorful. The pepperoni curls up into little saucers and is delicious! My kids love the Sicilian slices. We ordered from this pizza place based on the 45 mins delivery. Around 6pm so fine - it's rush hour for food! The delivery then updated and updated and updated til we waited 2 hours. Then the restaurant cancelled our order. So at 8pm we are now starving and have to scramble to find an alternative. Appalling service. Don't take the order if you're short staffed or whatever causes you to let down a customer. read more
