Wonderful anniversary dinner tonight. Hostess Annie made sure we had a great table. Server Dina was absolutely on point and attentive. (her desserts are tremendous). Missed our favorite bartender Jamie tonight who makes the best Espresso Martinis, among other wonderful mixed drinks, in the world. Jamie did remember our anniversary with a personal note- so special! Ribeye steak prepared perfectly as requested. Eggplant parm is ALWAYS a winner. Let's not forget the special Stuffed Artichoke app. Music on Thursday's made it an even more special celebration dinner. Great service and good to match. The owner is there all the time and you can tell he cares. Ask about the specials as they can be spectacular and very special. The restaurant does get a bit noisy but it is still intimate and conversation is not difficult. read more

Came with friends two weeks ago for the first time and loved the food so much my fiancé and I came back again last night. Their food is some of the best Italian food in the area. When we came two weeks ago the food and service was a 10/10. Last nights service was not great as our server seemed very new and inexperienced with the menu. Highly recommend the fried calamari, stuffed mushrooms & eggplant tower for apps. Our dinner was delicious as well. Hoping for better service next time but we'll be back soon! read more

Chef Gio consistently delivers incredible food, and the experience never disappoints. The Clams Organette (could be the best I have ever had), the Shrimp alla Barbara (OMG!), and the Chicken alla Gio's (dry chicken scarpariello on the bone with sausage and peppers - that's how it's done!) are can't miss dishes. The Bolognese is hearty and full of flavor, so good it could be enjoyed on its own, but it's truly exceptional when served with their perfectly al dente pasta. And save room for dessert! What truly makes Gio's deserving of 5 stars is the warm, family atmosphere that Chef Gio has created. Even on nights when the kitchen gets backed up, or the acoustics are a bit loud, those minor inconveniences are quickly overshadowed by great food and the fantastic staff. read more

We celebrated a friend's birthday at Gio's and couldn't ask for a better experience. It was our first time there, I've been wanting to try for a long time. From the moment we arrived we were treated graciously by Anna. The ambiance is quaint and inviting with a beautiful bar. Speaking of the bar the cocktails were exceptional with many great choices. As for their menu, talk about choices, so many great options including specials. We had an octopus appetizer special. The octopus was cooked perfectly, tender and delicious. We had the linguine with seafood in a white sauce (red was also an option) It had lobster tails, shrimp, calamari and mussels. Very large portion that was delicious. We had the veal Sorrentino that's on their regular menu. It truly was one of the best veal dishes I ever had, the best in the city. Also had the broccoli rabe that was so good. For desserts we had 2 different tartufo's, perfect ending to a great meal. Our server Nick was nothing short of fantastic. He was friendly and so accommodating. He made our experience even better. Last night was my second time visiting Gio's, and both times it was pure perfection! From the moment you walk in the restaurant has this vibrant ambiance with a stunning and classy bar. The restaurant is cozy but very spacious, I truly loved the decor. The staff greeted us and sat us promptly. Our server was Deena and I can't say enough wonderful things about her! She was extremely knowledgeable about the menu, the restaurant and the Chef. She truly made our dining experience extra wonderful! The food is definitely high quality and their pasta is home made super fresh and delicious! To start we had the burrata and figs salad and their steak tartare LOVED IT! For our second course we had the Maple Glazed Porkchop and their Homemade Truffle Paccheri topped with crispy pancetta truly Heaven in your Mouth! This place was kind of a Ying and Yang type of experience. I was part of a group which was not a good thing. Our waiter tried to sell us everything and anything under the sun and ALL of our food was NOT HOT. I loved their drink, wine, and beer menu because I NO LONGER order any alcohol without knowing the price. I felt their prices on wine were very high, so I had a tap beer. I would like to see other restaurants have such a nice and clear wine and beer menu because post covid, having a glass of wine at a restaurant has gone up 65%. I must say that their tap water was Fantastic, most certainly filtered, served cold, I LOVED IT. Too many places do not monitor their water that goes into their soup, pasta, soda, mixed drinks etc. The whole place smelled like the offensive fragrance they use in the bathroom, the entire time I was there. WHY the HECK use that typical commercial bathroom fragrance?? Why not keep fans on in the bathroom sucking?? That was a big turn-off to me and some of the others at the table. Another big turnoff was 35%, if not more, of the menu was MP, Market Price. To me, when I see that, it means, "Let the Buyer Beware" and you will be over paying. If they truly feel the need to do this, they should put a just printed list of items that are MP on the menu, or a post-it, telling you their prices. My waiter did not know any, it was a bit of a joke. The first half of us being there we were sweating and the place was very stuffy, the second half it was a little chilly and no longer stuffy, why did they wait so long?? The atmosphere is great. Service was very good, some food did not come out, you had to ask for salt, pepper, and ketchup that should have been on the table just after you ordered something like French Fries. The noise level is what it is. Entire staff was in the weeds the whole time but always accommodating if you can get them. I would go back if I lived closer but not as a group. If I smelled the bathroom when I walked in, I would walk out. My fish was a 6, a 10 if it came out hot. read more

Gio's is an all-around winner! Nothing disappoints! Northern authentic Italian deliciousness. Consistent! This is my weekly local go to. Reservations are most likely needed for a table; however, you may grab a spot at the lovely bar. The patrons are friendly. Anise & Adam behind the bar are gentlemen, Gio (the gem) makes you feel like family, and Matthew delivers the verbal dessert menu, (many of which are homemade by Gio himself), spectacularly. However, most of all, I go for the food. From the baked clams, the eggplant tower, the artichoke hearts oreganata, the grilled Caesar salad a must try, don't 'leave without trying the amatriciana pasta, the chicken Milanese, any of the veal dishes and the fish is fresh as can be. read more

The food and service here is EXCELLENT, the atmosphere is Manhattan like, and very beautiful. As for the taste of the food, is is totally excellent. And really a winner. Located right off of the Atlantic Beach bridge. Try to come on a week day, as it can get pretty crowed on weekends. read more

I really wanted to love this place but unfortunately it was terribly disappointing. We arrived on time for our reservation (party of 10). We were seated promptly. We did not have a server for at least 30 minuets. We got up and went to the bar to get cocktails to bring back to the table. When the server finally arrived she did not know much about the menu. I asked about the mushroom appetizer and she said she's never seen it or tired it. We ordered 2 large fried calamari, both platters were soggy calamari rings, no crisp at all and the portion size was small for the price being charged. Ordered the creamy polenta, it was polenta squares, not creamy. We all ordered entrees. 2 were sent back because they smelled bad (not fresh). The others were lack luster and again small portioned. We were seated inside, the acoustics of the dining room was intolerable, there's nothing to absorb sound anywhere so voices just echo and bounce around making the room obnoxiously loud and nearly impossible to hear the person speaking next to you. We ate here last Saturday with the entire family, thankfully we made a reservation because when we got there it was packed. We started with apps for the table. We ordered calamari, baked clams and Caesar salad which were all delicious. For dinner we did some individual dishes and some family style. The chicken parm and penne alla vodka was delicious, my mom is still raving about the veal Marsala and even hid it so my brother couldn't eat her left overs. My husband, dad & son shared the pescatore and said it was delicious as well. And as for my dish the Salmon alla Veronica ...it was out of this world...it has become my pregnancy craving and i cannot wait to visit again and get it. I can't say enough great things about Gio's! The food so amazing! The service phenomenal! Some of the must haves in my opinion is the grilled cesar which I add fried avocado too, the eggplant tower, spicy paccheri, veal chop valdostano, and the salmon allá Veronica! There's so many more but those are my favorites! The atmosphere is amazing and the decor is so nice! It's so inviting and you feel like part of the family the way they make you feel! Gio is always there in the kitchen but always pops out to check on his customers and says hello to everyone! The wine selection is amazing and the Gio's signature cocktails are all made with fresh ingredients and all sound delicious! While the food was good the price was like being in the city it's way over priced for the area. Again it's too dam expensive I would much rather have gone to the city if I were to spend as much as I did. Perhaps next time I just might, or go to Merrick where there is a very good Italian restaurant there and far less expensive. read more

I recently had dinner with my family at Gio's of Atlantic Beach and only have good things to say! We didn't have one bad thing on the menu and we ordered quite a lot of food! We shared the a salad and calamari to start- calamari was tender and absolutely delicious. We all shared a bunch of things on the menu and nothing disappointed us. Of the things we had I would say the gnocchi melted in my mouth and lamb chops super tasty. We also had the pasta Bolognese which we will definitely be having again as it was so delicious. Love the ambiance, staff were super friendly and helped us pick great options to all share as we wanted to taste a little bit of everything. Good place to go with friends or family for some great food and well crafted drinks. I would definitely recommend coming here. This will now be a new spot that we frequent often! read more
