Everything was fresh...perhaps a little too fresh...lol We were interested in getting a lobster dish and the chef brought the whole live lobster to the table to ask if that was the one we wanted. Marina Bay seafood restaurant on the Barcelona Shoreline is a true gem. While it is in a tourist area, it is not a tourist trap. The seafood here is absolutely fresh and top-notch. The menu is creative and the quality is exceptional. The service, especially Our friend Albert S is absolutely outstanding. It is the best service of any restaurant we've experienced in Barcelona. We ate at Marina Bay three times in 14 days and each experience got better and better and better. You must make sure to try the Krystol bread with tomato. It is the best tomato bread in all of Barcelona in our opinion. And we have tried it in so many places we lost count. They offer true Spanish style seafood, but they also serve sushi with a Flair. The sushi is Perfection. and, we experienced some of the most delicious oysters from Normandy, perfect, salty, briny creamy delicious oysters. Absolutely completely fresh and so clean. The wine list is excellent, good quality at fair prices. There is simply nothing bad to say about this experience. Marina Bay restaurant is a dockside restaurant in Port Vella. The views of the docks and boats can be seen from both levels of the restaurant. We decided to have my wife's birthday at this restaurant. The service was very good. Our server came by often to see how we were doing. My favorite dish was the garlic shrimp. The shrimp was cooked to perfection, the butter garlic sauce had the right ratio of garlic to butter.... not too garlicky. The sirloin steak was broiled just right as ordered ... medium rare. The steak had flavor of wood our charcoal which gave the flavor of the meat a nice smokey flavor. The grilled salmon was cooked just right. The meat was soft and flaky, not hard or over cooked. The restaurant gave my wife a complimentary dessert for her birthday. This was a great gesture. Overall, we enjoyed our eating experience at Marina Bay restaurant. I would revisit Marina Bay if were ever back visiting Barcelona. read more

My first day in Barcelona and I knew I wanted Paella! My friend and I were walking to another restaurant and stumbled upon Marina Bay. The smell coming from the restaurant was sooooo good. We looked at their outdoor menu, saw they have Paella and decided to eat here instead. We were immediately seated. It took sometime before the waiter came over with menus. It took time for the waiter to do almost everything hence the 3 star rating. We ordered Seafood Paella, fried calamari, tomato bread & Cava Sangria. The Paella was amazing & came out so fast that I was shocked. The calamari was ok, not the best I've had in Spain BUT better than the states. Cava Sangria is always my thing when in Spain & theirs was very good with a great balance of fruit and Cava. I had to ask for the tomato bread 3 times before actually receiving. I recently visited Spain and decided to look for a local place that served excellent seafood choices. Marina Bay popped up with high reviews and I had to try it. I was pleasantly surprised. I sat in the rooftop area with was perfect for the dinner that my friends and I were having. That's also a great spot to watch the sunset or look out over the marina during any time of the day. we ordered the seafood paella and it was excellent. Awful - that just about sums up our meal here. As a part of a 27-member group tour, the menu was arranged by our tour guide. I don't know want the deal was between tour managers and the restaurant, but the horrendous meal was inedible, starting with the rock hard days-old cold bread rolls. When we asked for butter, the waiter said they don't have any. We asked for olive oil - they handed us a bottle. First course was a Spanish potato pie which was good - that's the one star. The paella was the worst I've ever had - brown soupy rice that was both under (hard) and overcooked (mushy) topped with a few microscopic mussels and a few dry and overcooked shrimplike things that had small claws which were most likely frozen crawfish. Absolute worst paella in any continent I've had paella. Last course was a little scoop of something white which looked like vanilla ice cream but which turned out to be lemon ice cream or sorbet - server didn't specify. This was just ok. The curious thing was that the staff was rushing all over the place and seemed distracted, but they never presented anything edible! To start, I made a last minute reservation for 15 people here and they were able to accommodate! The larger tables were available around the kitchen and the design made guests feel very comfortable! It felt like you were eating at a beach house! To start, we had a potato dish that came with spicy mayonnaise, house salad, cheese board, and croquettes. They were all delicious and paired nicely with their beer selection, San Miguel. For the main dish, I shared the seafood paella and they will ask you if you want shell or no shell, so make sure you let them know. The paella came with prawns, crawfish and mussels in large flat pan dish. I shared it with a colleague of mine and it was delicious! The rice was coated in sauce and the seafood complimented the dish well! They will also ask if you want to take a picture of the food. Ha! Also, I appreciated their front entrance which has a display of their most popular seafood dishes and they also have an open kitchen. Twice a year we are in Barcelona for a long weekend and without fail we always have at least one lunch here. 3 years ago I took this restaurant for a tourist trap. After our first meal here, we were so wonderfully surprised. I can recommend any thing off the fish menu. Pair it with a nice, lightly sparkling bottle of blanc pescador from the region. Tourist trap, ate here because it's on Devour's food and tours best paella in Barcelona list. If this is one of the best Barcelona is in trouble. Made reservation online, this was good. My advice while visiting, do homework ahead of time because good restaurants can be booked out 3-5 days in advance, we missed out on eating at a lot of recommended places by not doing this. We ordered the grilled padron peppers and cava sangria to start. Peppers were fine except one jalapeno snuck in on the plate that gave my wife a spicey surprise in one bite. The sangria was good, lots of fresh fruit in it, but maybe I don't understand what cava sangria is because there was no bubbles or expected carbonation in it, seemed like they used white wine instead of cava, no idea but cost more. Our main was Seafood Paella for 2. Rice was ok, maybe, seafood was was way over cooked, the shrimp were barely edible. The service, very mediocre, our wait staff sat off in a corner for 10 minutes chatting with each other ignoring all the upper level tables, I had to flag down. For the price expected much better quality and service. I gave it a 2 star instead of 1 because of nice view on bay if you get upper level which we had. Would never recommend this place, disappointed in Devour recommending this place. Located in Port Olympic, facing beautiful Mediterranean sea. Numerous pictures of various celebrities that once in a while have dined there are decorating the walls inside. I saw my favorite Ronnie Wood there, on the picture unfortunately, not alive. We usually reserve a table at the terrace upstairs to enjoy this gorgeous view of the beach and Barcelona's nightlife from above. They specialize in Mediterranean cuisine. What I love the most -their seafood. Unlike in some restaurants in the neighborhood it is never frozen there as well as fish - always freshest and delicious. The paella mariscos is amazing and my favorite in town, at the moment. It is so delicate and juicy, full of savory seafood. That's order for two minimum. Octopus is great. The menu is pretty typical all in all, but you'll find everything that you're looking for. Once we even had a turbot, it was a catch of the day. But be careful with Pimientos del Padron. That peppers are yummy, mild and soft, but occasionally there might be one or two really spicy. The wine selection is not very rich, but quite enough to find something to one's taste. We usually take Albariño or local Catalan chardonnay by Jean León to accompany our "food from the sea". Good for families and friends. There are tourists of course, but not that much as in other beach locations and the waiters are really attentive, polite and complaisant. A place obliging to come back. read more
