Bread with tomato, croquettes
Nikki G.

Went here based on a recommendation from the hotel concierge and it was amazing!! House white wine was crisp and a large pour. The olives as an app turned me into an olive lover. The black rice croquettes were crispy and had a really nice texture. The tomato with bread had a delicious olive oil and perfectly baked crust. We split the fedeau(basically a seafood paella but with noodles). It was large enough for two people to split and the cuddle fish in it was so fresh. Price was affordable for a nice seafood dinner out & service was gracious and quick! Decorated super cute & took reservations.

Definitely one of the nicer restaurants in Barcelona, would highly recommend if you are with a big group. Great paella and the sea crab was also amazing. Right on the water with a fantastic view as well.

My friend and I were traveling in Barcelona on students' budgets, and we wanted to have one nice seafood dinner in Port Olímpico. After reading many reviews on Yelp, I went with El Cangrejo Loco and it was the right choice! January is obviously off-season, and many of the restaurants along the Port were close to empty, if not so. Outside every restaurant stood an eager worker trying to beckon us in, which is annoying but typical in the touristy parts of Barcelona as we learned. It was tough to avoid these pushy people as we made our way down to El Cangrejo, which is the very last restaurant in line. There was no one standing outside to try and lure us in and we took this as a good sign. The hostess sat and brought us menus, and though I had to ask for the "Menu My Way", she brought it to us (They had English menus, hooray!) There were no hard feelings when we wanted to split it, which is great because it was both plenty of food, and actually affordable for us this way. First came the olives and tomato tostado. These were both very tasty, but we were just getting started. We chose the mile-feuilles of smoked salmon and tramezzini bread, which was gorgeous in presentation and equally tasty, especially the roe-type cream that came with it. Next came our hot appetizer, the seafood croquettes. These were TO DIE FOR. I seriously would have been happy to eat a dozen of these golden brown, perfectly fried balls of creamy crab heaven. Then came the paella parellada. This was our first paella in Barcelona and it was amazing. A perfect amount for two people, it was bite after bite of chewy paella nirvana (even to my limited knowledge of the dish). It contained a few different types of shell-free seafood, though the shrimp was a standout. Finally, the hostess recommended for us to try the Catalan custard cream, which is like creme brûlée. I usually don't go for custard type things, but this was so light and fluffy and flavorful that I devoured my half instantly. The bill was 25,50 (pre-wine) as promised. My friend and I both left full and satisfied, and El Cangrejo Loco was definitely a highlight of our trip.

Good sangria served like the finest wine

The beach view is the best thing about this restaurant. The food is average (and overpriced) but the view made it worth it. It also shines in comparison with the other places nearby. Service is like a fancy restaurant. The sangria is served in a carafe after the waiter let you taste it (as if it were a fine wine). Unfortunately, we were given a fake 20 € bill as change. The waiter gave us a new one after we showed him the blatant defects on the note. He apologized repeatedly afterwards.

I came by a recommendation from a friend and sometimes recommendation from friends aren't worth a darn. I ordered more than 10-11 dishes and mostly they just tasted salty or average. The live fish was the best dish, even though, it was the most expensive. Our waiter, sucked and couldn't understand us. He spoke English but Indian or something and he was hard to understand..

In the mood for trying out different paellas we hit this place in Port Olimpic. Nice terrace, very shaded, good service. Paella was pretty good but I still have my other favourite spots in town. Either way, glad I tried it.

Everything we had was awesome. Try the buñuelos de bacalao. The Arroz Negro is an all time favorite of mine which they did great!

Great salmon.near the water but not the best view. Good view of docked boats but I wanted to see water. Still very good.

This restaurant was literally right next to our stay in Barcelona--skipping it felt like a crime,…read moregiven the rave reviews. So, on a rainy afternoon, we gave it a shot. We arrived just after lunch opening and were the first customers. The guy at the counter was... efficient. He simply told us to pick what we wanted, tossed it in a bin, and that was that. No explanation of pricing or preparation methods. When we asked how they'd cook it, he casually offered "fried or grilled." Obviously, we chose grilled--why fry fresh seafood? We picked two giant prawns, two octopus tentacles, and two fish (since hubby can't have shellfish). He asked if we wanted salad or soup--reviews hyped the soup, so we went with that. Then he handed us a receipt, told us we were order #3, and sent us to the bar. At the bar, we ordered two sangrias and a water. The bartender asked if we wanted bread and sauce. Sure, why not? We assumed they were included. Surprise! The tiny baguettes cost €0.50 each, and the mystery "house sauce" (a questionable mix of thousand island and horseradish) was an extra €1. We only realized the charge when we saw the total: €73. Oh well, too late now. Then came the food pickup experience--chaotic, to say the least. The server practically barked at us to bring our receipt, aggressively crossed off items, and handed over soups and octopus, crammed onto a greasy tray. No effort at plating, just food haphazardly dumped onto plates. The second round--grilled fish and prawns--was more of the same. Now, the verdict: Soup (5/5) - Delicious and reasonably priced at €6. Would order again. Bread & Sauce (0/5) - Not free, not worth it. Hard pass. Octopus (€31.80 for two tentacles, 1/5) - Overpriced, greasy, and drowning in molten salt. Basically, eating a sodium bomb. Grilled Fish (€10.50 & €8.50, 3/5) - Decent, but unnecessarily oily. Grilled Prawns (€5.59, 0/5) - Mushy, not fresh, and borderline inedible. Final thoughts? Not worth it. With so many incredible food spots in Barcelona, why waste your meal quota here? If you want quality seafood, go to Cervecería Catalana--we spent €5 more, but a meal a thousand times better. Spend wisely and eat like a king.

I've had fried anchovies before but this was too heavy for us - Octopus: This was a bit oily but but not as much as the anchovies. Potatoes were nice and soft and absorbed all the sauces. - Small Clams: My favorite dish out of all we've ordered. Although the clams were small, the sauce it was cooked in was delicious! [Service] - Line up, order what you want, some seafood have various cook styles so they will ask you which you'd prefer, pay, find a table, and pick up at the pick up window once your buzzer goes off. [Ambiance] - Mainly indoor seating with 2 tables outdoors [Overall] - Would come back again as I love this kind of seafood eateries! Will definitely try other dishes next time as well

Hands down, a must-visit when you're in Barcelona!…read more Make sure to have Google Translate ready so you don't miss out on the freshest seafood. We must've ordered eight rounds of the small clams -- the kids couldn't stop eating them! They were perfectly sweet, with just the right touch of garlic and butter. The mackerel was incredible -- it literally melts in your mouth. And for the carb lovers, the buñuelos de bacalao were unreal -- fluffy, light, and something I could eat every single day. Of course, the squid was fantastic too... but honestly, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu here.

The only dish I wasn't a big fan of was their octopus as it was a bit chewy and I didn't love the flavor. Service: Don't expect the most attentive service as they're pretty busy and things move pretty quickly. However, staff are very nice and welcoming. Atmosphere: Pretty much a hole in the wall and nothing fancy. A few tables inside so I would recommend getting there as early as possible as you may have to wait a pretty long time to get a table. Space is very small so expect tables to be very close together and not a lot of room to pass through when going to the bathroom. More suitable for smaller parties.
