One of our favorite memories from Barcelona is eating at this local seafood spot. It is a short walk from the main beach area, but very much worth it to get away from the crowds. We passed by several packed eateries filled with waiting patrons, but was able to get a table almost immediately here. We had the razor clams, grilled sardines, fried eggplant, grilled squid and a couple beers for lunch. Everything is so fresh that it needs a little salt and a kiss of heat to make it delicious. I was recommended this place as the best seafood spot in Barcelona by a friend who studied abroad in Spain. It is definitely more of a hole-in-the-wall but loved by locals. The hours were a little confusing online, but we asked the store staff who told us they were open from 9-11 AM and 1-4 PM. Since we came earlier in the morning, the shop was not too busy. This was some of the best seafood I had ever had, I never even realized that seafood could be this tender and juicy. The waitress was very friendly and spoke a little English and explained the menu of the day. I would still recommend coming armed with some translator to help understand the menu. We ordered gambas (shrimp), mejillones (mussels), sardinas, and pelayas. Almost everything came with this lovely green sauce we could not get enough of and some lemon. Be prepared to eat around the bones in any fish you order. My favorite had to be the mussels. We shared 4 dishes among the 2 of us and left quite stuffed (3 would probably be filling enough). The dishes came out one by one as they were cooked and felt very fresh. Our bill came out to under 40 euros which felt like a steal given the amount and quality of the food. This is the place for non- tourist that tourist would like if they want to to tour in a locals only areas. I also came here because of Mark Weins youtuber who travel for food . We just happened to be in Barcelona as part of a European tour and looked up places to go by our favorite food vlogger. Yup , authentic and local alright. No upgrades since it's become YouTube famous 5 years ago and that's what so genuine about it . Old fans on ceilings and mixed matched chairs as well as wooden ice box in the back room . That's what makes it do charming . Google maps are great as it guided us to the non descriptive restaurant in a residential neighborhood. Only a small sign and a 1960 styled aluminum and glass entry door . Should note that they don't claim their Yelp account so the store hours aren't accurate. We can't at 830 am and the attendant told us to wait so we walked to a market and had coffee and to wait . The wait was worth it after getting to eat the prawns and fried anchovies. Couldn't eat more because we were already full food in eating breakfast at Pacis in the market. I forgot to order the local wine so if you come here , order the home brew . read more

After Mark Wiens featured this gem in his Barcelona trip back in 2016, I have bookmarked it since then. 2019 I made it to Barcelona and this was my one of my two favorite spots in Barcelona, perhaps one of the best seafood spots on my bucket list. First of all the atmosphere is incredible and authentic, Although you see some tourists here, mostly locals. Second the quality of food is insanely fresh and simple. nothing beats fresh simple seafood grilled with outstanding olive oil, lemon and good wine. I dined here twice during my four days stay in Barcelona. My favorite thing here was the grilled sardines, since It was the season, I was lucky to have fresh sardines here and I fell in love with them. the fried anchovy were incredible as well alone with the fried merkel. Another hit is the garlic shrimp, so simple so fresh so delicite. In addition, the fried peppers and eggplants are somewhat oily but good sides overall. Enjoyed the food here so much that we ended up visiting on 2 consecutive nights. Lots of delicious seafood at very reasonable prices. It tastes fresh, and has great flavor. Everything that we tried was really good. It has more of a local vibe, even though the customers did seem to be primarily tourists. We got there just before opening each time and there was already a line at the door. So my recommendation is to come just before 8 to avoid waiting. Will definitely return if I'm in town. read more

This place was our last dinner in Barcelona. This place is great. The yelp reviews and my tour guide's recommendation was spot on. Great quality and very affordable. A large wine is 5 euros and its the whole bottle. I tried drinking the whole bottle but left a quarter of it. The walk back to the apartment was painful and had me walking in circles. The seafood was fresh and flavorful. The fried anchovies was plentiful. The squid with salsa verde was amazing. Closed Mondays because fishermen don't work on Sundays. CC accepted. Very fresh seafood. We went around 8pm and the place was packed. While the two of us got the table right away, there were about ten people waiting outside around 9 pm when we finished eating. We had the fried white fish (couldn't catch the name) and grilled squid. The waiter wasn't very helpful in making recommendations ("everything is good" is the standard response to me and our neighboring tables). The dishes are raciones (full portion) and 1/2 portions (for 75% of price). Food is more fresh and cheaper than tapas bars you see lined up around more touristy spots. Oh beware. "The fruitas" dessert for one euro we ordered consisted of a single uncut apple lying on a plate. Strangely we were so satisfied with the rest of the food we just laughed it off. read more

Ok so a local brought us here and for good reason, it's a locals secret to the most fresh, amazing seafood we've ever had. They don't speak a lick of English but have an English menu. They serve the house wine by setting a bottle on your table and you get charged for what you drink (if you don't finish the bottle like we did both times). The whole bottle is €4,50. The red is really good, the white is decent. Get the gamberi(prawns), best shrimp of our lives. Don't ruin the local secret but don't miss it either! read more

It's a straight seafood - you order a plate of fresh grilled or fried fish, some mussels, prawns, squid, etc and everything you get is gold. Went to the place with high expectations, but we were very disappointed. First and foremost, the seafood we ordered were not fresh. We had fried calamari, sardines, small squid and others. We had much fresher food from elsewhere in Barcelona. If want fresh, then this is not the place for you. Go to La Paradeta Sagrada Família. Second, the place was so loud that we couldn't concentrate in eating. It had some type of a low and loud rumbling drum noise that bothered me a lot. Didn't like the service either, but we can't complain too much as the price is cheap. If you like crowded space and above average seafood, then this is an okay place to go. read more

Ambience: very downscale, very local, definitely not touristy. A trumpet/accordian/drum jazz combo came in while we were eating fairly early on a weeknight, very loud for the small venue, very fun. I really wanted to love the joint from the moment we walked in, but... How can my fellow Yelpers possibly rate it at 4 or 5 stars? Service: indifferent to nonexistent. Pan con tomate: tasteless, on soggy cold bread. Special garden salad: lettuce/chopped tuna/hardboiled egg/olives, undressed, uninspiring. Sardines: good sardines, but not well prepared and not well presented. Gamboni (shrimp): very fresh, best thing we ate by far. French fries: lukewarm, not remotely crisp (in a city where frying is generally fabulous). Cost: 15 Euros per person, which would be a bargain if the food were good, but I'd gladly pay more for decent food, and that's easy to find in Barcelona. I'm sure they had other good fresh fish, but nothing about the cooking made me want to give them another chance. read more

Nostalgic place with good quality food. Been there 3 times and I can say I will keep going. The mussels are exceptionally good and the rest of the tapas are great. You can have tapas of seafood, fish, meat and veggies, and also burgers, chips and some other devils of fast food. Good atmosphere, reasonable prices and good customer service. No fuss, neighborhood restaurant with fresh food at a great price. Tip: they serve wines by the bottle. My fiancé and I didn't know this so I ordered white and he ordered red. We both ended up drinking a bottle each. For 5 euros we thought the wine was by the glass. Luckily the wines were light so we were able the finish. The fried tomatoes and eggplant dishes were delicious! We also had the sardines and the big sausage. The big sausage was so flavorful. The grilled sardines were just meh for me. Also had the grilled shrimp. The flavor was very good but didn't enjoy the peeling of the shells. For 2 bottles of wine, eggplant, tomatoes, sardines, sausage, shrimp, flan dessert and two cappuccinos the total bill was under 50 euros. We went back a 2nd time for dinner and ordered the grilled peppers and small hake fish which was much better than the sardines. They open at 8pm on most nights at dinner. Arrive 30 mins earlier as there will already be a line for the 8pm seating. read more

Can Mano is a nice family style hole in the wall restaurant in the middle of the many narrow passage ways in Barceloneta beach. Although the restaurant is tiny, you will quickly realize why this place boasts in its delicious simple spanish homestyle flare, and popularity amongst locals. They serve wine for just 5 euros. Yes, upon asking for a red wine, you receive a whole bottle for just 5 euros. And that is exactly what I recommend. Come here, get cheap beer / cheap wine with friends and have yourself a time over delicious food. Definitely order the fried or grilled calamari, fried aubergine (eggplant), and shrimp. The fried dishes are not overly breaded, nor are they too oily in that annoying way. All were absolutely great. The dishes come out quick, especially the fried ones. Come here to have a good time with friends, laugh a bunch, and enjoy the friendly / family atmosphere. read more
