Allen (Owner) and Forest came by to see what I needed done and I was very impressed their professionalism. Forest had overseen the work on a daily basis through out the project. I hired Homes Reimagined USA to remodel my townhouse. The estimate was for $33,000, with the first…read morepayment being $16,500. The other two payments were to be made based on job completion. There were problems from the beginning! The remodel consisted of demolition of a kitchen, to include removing old cabinets and drywall because of water damage and mold. It also included demolition of an upstairs bathroom for the same reason. The wood framing of the downstairs kitchen and upstairs bathroom was to be treated for mold. New drywall was to be installed afterwards. The sub-contractor hired to do drywall work started in the kitchen, and put up drywall without treating the exposed black mold. When I asked Allen Coven, the owner of Homes Reimagined USA, if the wood framing had been treated he told me he didn't know. He then told me it had not. So I insisted the new drywall be taken down, and the mold treated. I took a day off work to supervise the drywall installers. They showed up with a bottle of Tilex bathroom cleaner to spray on the mold. In frustration, I called a friend that owns a professional demolition company for advice. He told me Tilex shower cleaner wouldn't work. My friend then came over with a special paint that kills mold, and told me the visible mold would have to be scraped off, and the special paint applied to the effected areas. My friend had to explain to Forest and me what needed to be done. I ended up having to do all scraping, clean up, and painting of the effected wood frame myself. This is work I payed the contractor and subcontractors to do. A lock box with a key to the house was put on the back door. The workers had a code to the box, and were to make sure the house was locked and the key secured in the lock box when leaving. I couldn't stay at the house during this process, but would come home in the evenings to check on things. One evening I arrived to a wide open back door. Even though I wasn't staying there, I still had expensive firearms, clothes, and other belongings upstairs in boxes. After that I called Allen, and put a stop to all work until he and I could meet in person. Also per the estimate, a dumpster for trash was to be placed outside. Allen then told me one could not be used because of my car port area not being big enough. He then assured me that he and Forest would not let trash pile up in the back patio, and would haul it away on a regular basis. That didn't happen until I complained several times. The plumbers hired to install the new bathtub and shower valves didn't do a good job either. They didn't line up the mixer valve hole, the bottom water spout hole, or the top shower arm hole for the shower head correctly. The guy hired to tile the shower didn't say anything to anyone when he installed the tile either. He tiled the shower walls and didn't say anything to anyone, about all three holes being off. I got super busy at work, and couldn't go by the house every evening. On one particular evening I went by to check on things, and found that some of the kitchen cabinets had been installed. Unfortunately, they were of poor quality. I later found out they were made in China. I would have preferred they be made in the USA. That, and the installers didn't line up a vent hole with a cabinet box correctly. You would think the installers would see their measurements were off, and make a phone call to Allen or Forest. But like the tile installer, they didn't say anything. That, and if Allen or Forest had gone by the job site every day to check on things, perhaps some of these problems could have been avoided. I repeatedly asked Allen for a cost breakdown. I wanted to know how much of the $16,500 was spent, and on what it was spent on. To date, he refuses to provide that. He did however, invoice me for the second installment. Long story short, hiring this company was a mistake!

Tom was 1 of 4 estimates we received for the job. His prices were right in the middle of the other contractors, but he was the most knowledgeable, and gave us ideas for design. I have never left a bad review but this contractor did such a horrendous job that I would give them…read more0 stars if I could. I guess that's what I get for going with the lowest bid. Due to severe water damage the bottom 3ft of sheetrock on our first floor had to be completely replaced with new baseboards and wainscoting. 1. They went in my garage and used my equipment on multiple different occasions (ie. my drill, compressor/nail gun, ladder) despite me reminding them they were not allowed to use my tools each time. 2. From the start of construction Tom knew they could come only after 3pm on week days. He said that won't be a problem. The contract estimated it would take 7-10 days to complete the job. It took a month and the job was never completed. The delay in schedule was because they no showed us several days in a row. Each time they apologized and promised to put in extra hours but then on the fifth no show they tried to convince me to hire someone else to finish the job because "scheduling is just becoming an issue because we have a lot of other jobs- it may be better for you to find another company to finish the walls." I finally got them to agree to come back the following Saturday to finish the job but then they no showed me AGAIN and as always there was no heads up or explanation. 4. They left a 10" hole in my drywall and when I asked them to cover it they nailed a MDF panel over it instead of patching it properly. In other areas they just packed on compound (instead of laying mesh) resulting in major cracking. 5. The plumbing in the bathroom was not damaged from the cold freeze so it was not touched by the home owner. They broke the water valve to the toilet so they told me they would repair the plumbing. They did it incorrectly and then never reattached the toilet that they removed. 6. Baseboards were left loose and unattached in multiple areas. They only put caulk in a handful of spots (probably in attempt to hide the bad cuts). The mitered cornered were incredibly sloppy and on rounded corners there were supposed to be bullnose corners which wasn't done 7. The wainscoting looked like they played "find a stud" with my nail gun- it shouldn't take more than one nail to secure an area and there were up to 30 holes in some areas which completely destroyed the panels. 8. Tom no showed for the final walk through and then refused to reschedule with me. Since he wouldn't meet with me, I had to resort to sending him photos (which I have attached to this review) to express my concerns. I asked him to send someone out to fix these issues and he refused. Since the job was never completed by them, I personally had to go out to purchase the materials to finish the job. I'm just glad I know enough to be able to do the remaining work myself, a typical homeowner would have to hire a new company to do it. They very well may respond to this because no company wants a bad review staining their reputation but I urge you to disregard what they have to say. We gave them ample opportunity to redeem themselves throughout this ordeal- their word is untrustworthy and their actions are unreliable. *update* reviews have not been posted on any other social media by me. Less than 1 star. We moved into our new house ~2 years ago…read more The builder contracted with this company to install our "custom" surround fireplace. Around 6 months after we moved in, we noticed small cracks starting to form in front, at which point we alerted our builder, who proceeded to do nothing about it. Given all of the other issues we were having at the time (small kids + work), and the builder going bankrupt, we ignored it until we no longer could. It became apparent that the structure was slowly coming off the wall as it was not properly secured to it during installation. We also measured the columns holding the mantle and found these were different sizes (off by 0.25 inch), hence the leaning effect we noticed. Not knowing who the company was, we started researching places, accepting our fate that we would have to swallow the cost to replace. We found Cast Fireplaces Inc. after a google search and toured the showroom. We even shared our story with one of the associates who appeared to be "moved" and even offered us "discounted designer" pricing (this isn't really the case - it's their standard pricing). We opted to move forward with the replacement after selecting the design. We then noticed we were uncomfortably being asked to pay the full price urgently (apparently their installers were busy, and this needed to be paid in full ahead of the install so they could get us on the schedule / the next day). The first question that came to mind was, how could it be this quick if it were truly custom. The next day (right after payment) the installer showed up, with the fireplace in 10+ pieces. For context, there should max be 5 or 6 depending on the complexity of the design. Having the gut feeling something was wrong, my husband immediately stopped the installer from tearing down the old structure. He was (fortunately) able to get a response from our bankrupt builder that this company was the same company who installed the original. The associate (who was generally nice) apologized for the mishap. We asked how she missed the fact that this product was theirs when she came out to measure. She'd openly acknowledged that whoever had originally installed structure had not appropriately attached it to the wall, hence why it was falling off, and that the columns holding the mantle up were not the same size. She offered to have the structure repaired for $1000 as it was "now out of warranty" (which is only 1 year), and they would not honor the fact that we have evidence of the problem from before the 1-year mark. Apparently, they do not stand by their work. Needless to say, we could not move forward in good conscience knowing all of this. Would recommend avoiding this place unless you, too, would like for your surround to potentially come off the walls one day - see photos attached. Needless to say, we're trying to get this replaced before it falls on one of us.

The slabs began to discolor drastically after 2-4 weeks of use. This is due to a manufacturing defect where 'micropits' exist in the slabs due to resin not being fully impregnated in the slab, allowing bacteria to grow and debris to accumulate. It look months of repeatedly contacting Hilltop to get them to come view the issue. Once there, the Hilltop manager in Houston acknowledged the defect (because this slab was made on their "cheap Chinese machine"-- his exact quote), but stated 'they offer no warranties or guarantees' for their products and attempted to shift responsibility to the fabricator who installed the slabs.
