So, here I am at 2:30 on Saturday. Keep in mind the business hours are until 4 on Saturday, but, alas, no one is here. They haven't been here for the 30 minutes I've been waiting. Of course, I've called and been assured someone is coming to give me my dress, yet I continue to wait. I called on Wednesday- more than a week after the dress was promised to be done- to inquire about the status...it wasn't done. Ok. I ask if I can pick it up Saturday afternoon. The answer is yes. But, here I stand waiting... Update: finally got the dress after waiting an hour in the heat and it hadn't been steamed. That's not the end of the world, but I provided more than the requested amount of time to complete the work, then had to wait an hour outside for someone to just open the door AND it's not steamed. The work done to the dress was fine but nothing amazing. I wouldn't go back. read more

Brought my Italian Michael Shannons that were on their last limb here. Wear every other day trading black for brown and running around a hotel property. Put them through some heavy use. She ruined my leather jacket. I asked her to add a zip to a pocket and she stitched the zip on the outside of the leather instead of opening the seam or cutting the leather and stitching it on the inside of the leather and then seaming it up. Only an idiot would install a zip like this on a a pocket. It was the lazy easy way to do it, yet she charged nearly a hundred dollars for this. read more

I came to her about a month before the wedding, and she walked me through everything from where to buy the right fabric to the height at which she would cut the material so it would complement the pencil skirt. There were about 3-4 appointments from initial conversation to final fittings. Marie is a sweet woman and talented seamstress. I waited 3 years before deciding to alter a vintage pink dress. Because it was very beautiful and delicate, I wanted to simply have it hemmed shorter and taken in on the sides to fit my frame. Marie's alterations, however, are a nightmare! Instead of using side seams and taking the time to take it in on the sides, she altered it in a way that left a LINE DOWN THE MIDDLE in the front and back. This highlights the crotch area and as the fabric is light, the heavy seam bends inwardly in the middle in unseemly and unflattering ways! No skirt or dress should EVER have a line down the middle. What this indicates is that either Marie's is not well-versed in techniques and does things incorrectly or that Marie is extremely unprofessional in her craftsmanship and ruins clothes beyond repair. This is such a blatant mistake and I would not take my clothes there again for fear of more mishaps. read more

Very disappointing. I went in to get a bridesmaid dress taken in by an inch. She says it will take about a week, but she'll let me know when it's done. A week goes by. I had to call to ask if it's ready...this is unusual. It's three days before the wedding and the dress is now about two sizes too small!! Her stitching may be good, but her professionalism and measuring work is below sub par. At first, I was very impressed with the work completed by Marie. I asked her to remove the sleeves from one dress and make the sleeves bigger on another. She completed this work, and it was excellent, so I asked for more. I asked for a cleaning service on one of the dresses and for another to be altered to fit me. There was some miscommunication about the cleaning service - Marie called and quoted me the charge. When I said I could not afford it she said, "Okay, well how about if I just charge you what he charges me?" This makes it sound like she sends out the cleaning and then charges the customer for doing that - but, if so, the difference between the two prices was around $100! For one thing, I'd prefer just to go to a cleaner if she sends it out as well but, for another, I think $100 is a bit steep for simply sending it out. In the end, I got the "wholesale" price and the dress was impeccably cleaned, no harm, no foul. But where Marie really lost three stars is that she did a poor, unfinished job on altering the other dress to fit me. I learned from another seamstress later that it wasn't altered properly from the start. Then the seam wasn't complete, with the zipper still sticking out. I did not realize this until it was too late, so I had a friend of mine fix it. It took her several hours over two days to fix Marie's mistake on this dress. I don't understand why she would call me to say the dress is complete when it wasn't, and I can't believe she would charge me the full cost of the alteration for something unfinished. Even if she had said, "I'm sorry, I was not able to alter this dress properly," and charged me half or something for what she did do, okay, but she gave me the dress and charged me as though it had been totally completed. I didn't try it on that day because I had been to her for a fitting the week before - she did not even ask me if I wanted to try it when I picked it up the last day, and now I know why. I was very impressed with my first two orders, but so disappointed by my last experience that I will not be returning. Even if a seamstress isn't fantastic, I'd prefer someone who can admit their mistakes and/or limitations to me rather than someone who has me pay for something incomplete while stating it is finished. read more
